Satcover's sister company Satellite Direct who once appeared on watchdog went into liquidation last week. Another company in the same group is called "something tv" (Play TV UK was the original name for this company) if you cant get through to Sat Cover maybe try going to something dot info. Just found this thread and I can also report £65 direct debit taken "in error" instead of £6.50 back in April. I have spoken to them 3 times since and have been promised a refund twice and a cheque but needless to say nothing has happened. I have now cancelled the direct debit so we will see what happens next. Its a bit of a shame as I have had engineers out a couple of times for repairs and had good service.
Looks like I will have to pay the extra and go to Sky Protect £8.08 per month unless anyone else has a good satellite systems insurer.
.........................
Just been back to my bank account and found a brand new direct debit called PLAY 08716641400 set up in past few days so it looks like they are still at it. Needless to say I have cancelled this one as well and will be looking EVERY day from now on.0 -
I don't understand all these deductions. As long as the original direct debit is cancelled by the account holder then it cannot be 'resurrected' by the payee. If it does then the bank is in error and would give a refund under the DD guarantee.No free lunch, and no free laptop0

Thanks to all for this I to have had £6 taken in July. Had account with them years ago. Cancelled, but they have re-instated a new one with an end date of 9999! Abbey have invoked DD scheme and refunded money. BUT they advise they cannot put a note on to stop further attemps. Also the fax No. 01243554624 is out of service and the phone nos. 08702240442 & 08702 245777 are "temporary out of service". Off to write to trading standards, ofcom etc.0

Really glad you got your money back whitebeard. I have heard from various sources now that Satellite Direct (Satcover) have gone bust. Thats not to say though they wont re-surface under another name in the future. I am still checking my direct debits every day just to be sure!Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If anyone wishes to get in contact wiv them, the number we have just got through on is 01243 200150. They have done exactly the same to us last Dec and we have only just found out!
PlayUkTv / Something group / SatCover are all the same company and warnings are up all over the net, I would advise everyone to change insurance companies!

[FONT="]Hi peeps,
Just followed a link here from Digital Spy, you may be interested in this item on a local Sussex site:
[as a new user I can't post a link, but if you google "500 Sussex job losses threatened - Satellite Direct UK" and follow the link to the 'doctorwatson' site you'll find it]
Good luck to everyone having problems with these companies.
EDIT: That link takes you to the homepage at doctorwatson.info, click on the forum link and you'll find the item in the 'West Sussex forum'.

Hmm. That telephone number is on Satellite Directs website as the number for Satellite Direct. Who are in administration and have numerous complaints against them (including on this forum) for direct debit fraud. If you don't get any luck there, I would still call Documetric. The buck must surely stop with them.0

I had 2 year agreement with these people which expired last month. I've just had them on the phone to me asking for my card details again (fortunately the card I used before has been replaced) so that they can take £40 per year from me for contunued cover. I hadn't a clue who the bloke was and certainly wasn't prepared to give him my card details. He wasn't very happy.
Has anyone any advice on a decent company to use for satellite equipment cover - do sky do their own sceme? I feel I need something in place.ELITE 5:2
