This company has now taken our money twice. In January this year they took a one off payment of (£49.99) without authority. This was finally returned to us in June this year as a cheque, which bounced - no surprise really!!!!!! They promptly took another sum as a new direct debit (£49.99) again without authority. Our actions are these: we are about to go to the bank and lodge a criminal complaint about this company and consquently the police in order for them to have a proper account of this company's activities. Our advice - at the very least - is to go to your local police station with all the relevant information you have on this company and make sure you get a crime number. We are now owed by this theiving company £00.02 short of £100. Don't let anyone fob us off about who's responsibility this is - our data has been used again after we had cancelled all financial dealings with this company. This itself is a crime.0

I don't understand how they can take a direct debit (assuming you have cancelled the original one). If so then your bank is 100% responsible and should refund the amount taken immediately. No free lunch, and no free laptop0

Hi
My mother in law has found that Satcover have helped themselves to £65 from her bank account.
A few years ago she had Sky and then a year or so later found that Satcover had dipped into her bank account and taken about £60 via a DD, we assume that Sky had passed on her details although we can't prove it. Anyway she got the money back from the bank and didn't realy think about it again until last months bank statement came in and guess what...... they've done it again... £65, not a huge amount of money but too much for a pensioner to write off, surely this is theft. Maybe the bank will pay the money back but this outfit need sorting out.
A quick look at the Web reveals that this company has been doing this for a long time, they have also been in trouble with the ICO (Information Commissioners Office) for illegal unsolicited marketing call and numerous complaints about taking money without permision, why are they still trading ???? They need to be shut down..0 -
the company has no money satellite direct was closed down they are now called sat cover they have not told customer they have change their name managing director has been done for tax fraud and the companys asset has been frozen the only way they get money is going into your bank account and since satelite direct here anymore u be lucky to get your money my advice to everybody is to keep away from them:money:0

Hi,
I also have just had a DD taken from my Abbey account (23rd June) for £6. Abbey gave me the number 0870 2240442, which is actually for a company called Retra Insurance. They are now contacting Abbey (and the very best of luck to them as well!!!) as they are very unhappy with being associated with this bunch of shisters!
Surely this company are now getting beyond a joke and serious legal action needs to be taken against them (Sat Cover not Retra ;-))
Is anybody out there preapred to take on these scum? Watchdog, Rogue Traders....

I got thro to Sat cover today who have taken over from satellite direct supposedly last week so I was told, I got thro on phoning 01243 200150 press 2 for customer services. I spoke to their supposed customer services manager and was told I should believe them when they say any monies would be paid back by the end of august as the new computer system will be up and running by then. Of course I should write to them to claim back any interest on the money taken or phone calls made. Believe them!!!!! I said... number 1 why did you still have my details on file when I never set up a DD with you... we are allowed to keep records under the data protection act for 3 to 5 years in case of any queries... not so said I.
Number 2 why did you commit fraud by taking an unsolicted payment... it was a computer glich he said... we have got rid of Satellite Drect's computer system... that's clever I said in that case how can you be looking at a record of mine on your screen with the number I quoted you from the DD that was taken...no answer just the 6 weeks time you will get your money back...
I will be writing to Trading standards and my bank has noted the details to investigate altho it has a lot of DD's taken so hopefully will take this up. and to the office of communications concerning the data protection act.
I haven't lived at the address they have on file for 2 years and do not own satellite equipment anymore.:mad::mad::mad:0 -
I have had the same thing happen with them taking £65.00 instead of £6.50, finally managed to get through to them yesterday and got the story about their new system going in and I would get a refund end august. I got a bit suspicious when she said 'we have a new system going in then EVERYBODY will get a refund' having come across this thread it confirms the suspicion I had that they have done this alot so I'm not too optomistic about getting money back, have asked bank to claim back don't know if they will be able to.
On my statement this month it shows the payment as having been taken by PLAYTV, they have a web site but very scant info on it, has anyone heard of them? Searched on whois.com but have withheld their details. I suspect this is another scam company they have set up...0 -

Yes, I googled playtvuk and already warnings are flashing up all over the web. Their website has no contact details and they seem to have a similar mo. I believe its almost certainly the same company.
I am now checking all my direct debits on a daily basis just to be safe.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0
