Has anyone else had problems with these people, would be interested to know as I have had a direct debit taken from my bank today for £56. This direct debit was set up and cancelled 4 years ago, but they have managed to put it back into bank today. Luckily, because i am so on the ball with our money at the moment due to lack of funds, the bank have refunded the money and have put a note on our details that this direct debit is not to be set up again.

i have just been looking at my online bank statement and they have taken £6 from my account today. i cancelled the dd with the bank about 2 years ago after paying them for about 3 years and then one day my sky box wouldnt work so i rang them to be told by a woman that she could only pass on a message as they were too busy and she was just helping! i never received any call back from them and started to wonder if they were dodgy seeing as i didnt actually remember receiving any sort of communication from them over the years and had no paperwork to confirm anything. i have spoke to the bank and they have just said they will cancel it but i need to contact satcov ltd aswell. after putting in their name on the search engine it looks as if they are definitely dodgy.0

They are not very reputable from what has been said on the search engine, the same thing happened to us. Luckily the bank did give us our money back and has now put a note on the screen not to accept any direct debits from this company. The bank gave us a phone number for them as this information is with the dd but having rung it numerously there has been no answer do the same with your bank because i have a feeling they are going to crop up again if not stopped.0

I have just been debited £95 by this company.I stopped dealing with them years ago but they have simply instituted a new DD without any contact with me.My bank has put me in touch with their Fraud department and I am invoking their DD guarantee.Hope for quick result.Just off to report SatCov to Trading Standards.0

I have just phoned the number for Satcover Ltd (0871 6641400) and the automated answer was "Hello thank you for calling The Something Group,to improve our service to you the office is closed for 15 minutes for staff training"!!! What!!! I found a DD for £65 taken out of my bank today and it has taken me over my overdraft limit so I'll get a huge charge too grrr. I went to my building society (Nationwide) to find out what it was and the only information they could give me was the address of the company, not much help, but I found the phone number after a bit of a search on the internet. Incidently I phoned 15 minutes later and the message is still the same. Help.0

Same story here. I cancelled my direct debit with Satellite Direct (Satcover) last December when they "accidently" took £65 from my account instead of £6.50. My bank re-imbursed the money and I wrote to Satcover cancelling the agreement. Then yesterday I happened to check my direct debits and noticed a new one for Satcover which was not authorised by me. I cancelled it immediately, phoned the bank and they agreed not to set up any further direct debits for this company. Fortunately it seems I was able to stop them before they took any more money from my account. How can they re-instate a cancelled direct debit without further authority? These people are complete and utter crooks.

If my bank had set up a DD without my authority then I would expect them to refund me and compensate me. How can a third party reinstate a DD after it has been cancelled? No free lunch, and no free laptop0

I too have been a victim of this, they took £65 out of my account 4 days ago, and after 37 mins on hold managed to get through to Satellite Direct who told me this week there has been a huge computer malfunction and lots of ghost records and ddms have been created. She advised I could be refunded but it would take a month, so I said I would go to my bank as they will get the money within 48 hours! I have cancelled the ddm and hope this does not happen again.
Number for them is 0871 6641400, if you can be bothered to be on hold for that long.0 -
I too had a policy with these people over 6 years ago, which I cancelled and thought no more of, until last week when I checked my bank and they had re-instated the DD and taken £65.00!.
After speaking to my bank it was made clear to me that even though the DD had originally been cancelled with my bank (6 years ago), because I had not written to Sat Cover to inform them to remove my bank details from their system, they had the right to take money from my account whenever they liked. Thankfully I have now got the money taken back from my bank, under the DD indemnity guarantee.
I contacted Sat Cover and after lots of excuses about the system being down and no-one available to help me, I eventually got an answer... They had set me up with a new policy for an address that I had not lived at for over 4 years and claimed that I had signed a new DD Mandate on 12 June! Anyway, after lots of shouting and threats of police and fraud investigations, they are now admitting it was their mistake.
You must watch out for these people - write to them immediately and cancel any old DD's you may have had. For interest, I also have another tel no for them - 0870 2240442. Hope this helps someone... :A0 -
I have just discovered that £65 has also been taken from my account via a Direct Debit that I did not authorise. I have sent my bank a message asking for an explanation and also left a message on Sat Covers website but will phone them in the morning.0

we had exactly the same thing - fortunately they only tried to take £6 and I was straight onto HSBC who I have to say were excellent - the payment hadn't been sent and they reversed it and have put a note on to say that they should not reinstate. I had already seen posts on the internet as I googled the direct debit reference and when I spoke to HSBC was very clear that it was a fraudulent transaction
This happened when they rang years ago and told my husband they were Sky - I then got home and cancelled straight away so we never paid them anything and did not ever have cover but they must just have reinstated
If you have ever had any dealings with them then I would advise that you notify your bank immediately about this scam and make sure they will not accept the direct debit mandateBack to comping!
