    Debt-free and Proud!
    Hi debtbgone,

I've just come accross your diary and I love your positive and determined attitude! It seems like you have come such a long way since yoru LBM, well done!

That is a brilliant idea about finding out what you have spent and paying them off one at a time. I am definitely going to try and hunt some of my old receipts out.

I'm subscribing to cheer you on! Good luck xx

  • HELLO!!

Hi Katy!! Thanks for joining me on my debt busting antics!! Its always nice to see fresh faces....makes me wanna shift more debt.

Well i can now say "no more christmas presents to buy!! .... bought my final ones today.....2 presents both reduced down to £4 each and then something from boots which i used my points to buy.

Also today...i have purchased 3 sealed pots!! all reduced down to £1 in BHS. The only down side being they were decorated with footballs so i have nicely wrapped them in sparkly wrapping paper leftover :rotfl:. I have one for £2 challenge, one for christmas 2010 and one for rainy day funds!! oooo how will i choose which one to pop money into lol.

My jiffy bag from envirophone arrived today so i shall send that off later today and look forward to recieving that cheque after chrimbo!

Had a busy morning really so far....managed to do a bit of cleaning but am now going to have an hour or so focusing on our money, or lack of it ha ha. We will get there once we get rid of these evil cards! The loans dont bother me...but the cards . I am even more determined to get rid of them after finding out what is on them. I know its our own fault...but at the time we needed them to survive. I remember doing food shops with them because we didnt have money for food.....things are definitely better now and i am looking forward to the day when they are gone.

Have done my sratchcard so thats now standing at £7.15.....yey!! Going to pay us some wages later tonight once i work out how much we need for bills this month so hopefully the next week will be a flurry with debt paying!! cant wait to see the figure come down some more!!

Also have a few items to list on ebay. have decided i will not touch my paypal account (unless an emergency) until at least june 2010 and see how much builds up in there.

Anyway enough from me, im off to look at numbers.

  • So i am already for xmas now!! did final food shop today so everything is sorted now!! :j

Decided against paying off the lloyds loan early as they were adding money to it if we wanted to settle early....so i will just wait until feb now. It will tie in well with the water and council tax free months in feb and march.

Loving the next week or so as (apart from christmas) the big loan payments go out so i can update my sig and see a big difference. I think i worked out i will be at 5% of my target of 20k by december 2010!! not bad ey!! Am so hoping to get to that target!! but will happily settle for 15k!! Besides for the loans naturally coming down, i am hoping to kill 3 credit cards (at least).

Am very much looking forward to the new year and a new lifestyle of healthiness and wise spending. Minus credit cards.

Will prob not be on now until after christmas...but cant wait to come back and update the diary!!

Have a wonderful christmas everyone!! See you after the big day.

  • Hi there

You are doing really well. I am seriously tacking my debt on 1st January, will be working out exactly what I owe (I also have 7 credit cards). I also have £48 on Very so will pay that off first.

Will have to subscribe to your Diary as I keep missing your updates and they do give me lots of encouragement to get myself sorted out.

    Have a Happy New Year.

  • Happy new year!!!
Just a quick log on for me....updated my sig and am pleased that so far on the 20k challenge for 2010 i have paid of £1012.11!! just another £18987.89 to go lol!!

Hate January as its just as expensive as december, what with car tax, mot, service etc!! ah well life goes on and we certainly won't die from being in debt!!

I have made myself a little table to record min payments on cards and interest charged for each month...i am hoping my watching both columns go down in terms of amounts that it will motivate me to keep overpaying. Have overpaid 1 card by £150 this month and so far it will save me £5 off the min payment and also £6ish off interest added back onto the card.....not bad.

Since my LBM just under 8months ago i have paid off 16.24% of the debt!! I am hoping by my 1st year anniversary as a DFW i will have paid around 20% of this debt.

Hope all is well in cyperspace.

  • Wow, that is a great amount to have paid off. I have 7 credit cards all coming in at different times of the month so is hard to work out how much interest is being added and how much I'm paying off, every now and then I check them all online and work out the total I owe.

I'm Ebaying like mad again, not doing too bad so far but would love to do even better.

  • Hey TMD - thanks!! yeah i do feel i have done ok since xmas....especially as jan is always a nightmare of a month...with tax bills, car tax, mot etc. Like you we have 7 credit card...but also have loans so a large part of the payments are the standard monthly ones...but they are now all interest free so we see big chunks come off each month! The credit cards will get there slowly...im aiming to clear the lowest one at the mo. Mainly because last month i paid £15.14...of which £15.13 was charged as interest!! Shocking!!

Its a free listing day this sunday on ebay!! So i may pull my finger out my bum and put some things on there. Sold another book on greenmet so thats another £3.00 off the bills!!

Going to spend an hour tonight on organising the debt. i drive OH potty but i feel its for our own good in the end! I hate the debt we are in and would do anything to get out of it.

Back later with a plan of action!! I feel i need one at the moment!!

  • Hi diary!!

I must do better keeping you updated on my progress on here! i bought myself some pen and paper and most of my scribbling go on there now!

Have updated my sig on here.

    Today i have
-paid £81.68 of my virgin card.
-done a new soa (although a little difficult as income is now weekly rather than monthly)
-done a new snowball and am going to try and stick to it!

Looking forward to feb and march as no water rates or council tax!! yay!! March also sees one of our loans come to an end!! So thats a good thing too!!

Am going to spend more time tonight organising and seeing if we can cut things down. Have found we can get our elec & gas down by a further £19 per month so need to sort that out asap!

Got to dash now as i have sooo much to do.
    Back later. x
  • Afternoon all.

Today i have had abig clean out of the office and tidied things up!! It was well needed! Have updated my sig and am pleased with the progress....albeit it small!

Today i have made a payment off £53.90 to virgin 1. It is the first one in the snowball that needs to go so attention is on that now.....bit annoyed as i was focusing on another card but im going to give the snowball my trust.

That means just another £977.27 until card one is gone! The snowball told me that this would be clear by january 2011...but i am pleased to announce that i am already at June 2010 in terms of figures and so the date this card will be gone will be sooner!!! by hook or by crook....i want to move onto the next card!!

Naughty me....blew my scratchie total on a few games of bingo!! It was only 60p....but guess im 6 days further back to getting £10 out now...never mind.

Waiting for £3 from greenmet to land in my bank....then will pop it off the old virgin card!!

Have car mot at the end of the week so i am hoping all is well with it and it doesnt cost us anymore than it needs to.

OH went food shopping this week...and impressively cam back with only spending £31.60!! I think i will send him more often!

Anyway back to look at the figures for a little longer before i do a bit of cleaning.
  • back again!!

well after logging on to my bank account i saw they were offering me a 0% transfer for 6 months....so ive applied for the remainder of the virgin (1) card to be put on it. So we shall see how that goes! Last time they said no...but i have cleared alot from the card now so maybe they will allow it. It will mean my focus will be shifted slightly from that card and focused on the next card...also virgin...known as virgin 2! There is a far larger balance on this one £3357.74 to be exact! We shall wait and see how the transfer pans out. But until i hear from it i am now going to make any payments to the virgin 2 card! Starting with the £3.28 i just whacked off it.

Anyway thats my chat for today!
    See you soon
