  • Time for a quick update me thinks!!

Total amount owed to date now stands at £49508.02 so still slowly dropping. This includes a business loan which at the moment is still be paid for by business income. So when i take that away from our personal debt the total is £40766.99.

Have been chipping away at the CC's this month. The virgin cc is coming down nicely....on 10.03.10 it was £2869.06, it now stands at £2597.84....so thats an extra £271.22 paid of in just over a month. Really hoping to have this card dead and buried by this year!! along with another 1/2 of the smaller ones if possible.

Life is good. The debt is there but its alot more manageable now and budgets and spreadsheets have been a godsend....if a little obsessive. Its very exciting looking at the amount of money we one day will be able to save.

Have managed to get a car insurance quote for £366 which im happy with!! its valid until 22/5 so i will buy it nearer the time.

Not much else to report...have had to put the heating on today...feeling a little bit chilly now that the sun has gone back into hiding!

Hope all is well in debt free diary land!!

    Hi

Sounds like you are doing OK.

All my Endowment money has gone now - boo hoo! Mind you still have £500 of it in ISA but am trying to forget I have it so I don't get tempted to withdraw it.

Today is sorting out day so hopefully will find a few things for Ebay for later on. My eldest two girls are at my parents until Sunday so just got DD3 to look after so hopefully can get lots of stuff done.

My car insurance quote was £346.13 with More Than, I did a search with compare the market and moneysupermarket and they all came up with much higher quotes so stuck to More Than. They still had an accident on my Schedule as pending so rang up to query that and the case was closed so they reduced my premium to £311.13 so am happy with that, although when I rang up on Friday to pay the stupid guy didn't do it properly and the money didn't come out of my bank so I rang up today and they had no record of payment, so had to pay again, just want the money to come out ASAP so I know what I have left is mine.

Hope you have a good week. Hope your daughter is doing OK.

ooo sorry im still alive!!!! cant believe my last update was 14/4...yikes!!

    anyway here is the update:-

I have a job!! This now means that after paying bills and food etc we will have a dispoable income of £595!!! woo woo!! So i think the first goal is to now get rid of 2 of the smaller loans we have which come to around £1500. One will be gone by june and the other august...thus giving us a little more breathing space of £107 ish!! The £595 disposaable income could be £850 so long as work comes in to cover the business loan. So all in all things are looking good over here.

So far now in 2010 we have paid off a total of £5476.39, so now i have a job im hoping this will increase at a faster rate!!

To think that 12 months or maybe even less we were just about keeping our heads above water...todays situation is fantastic. It goes to show that even the large figure debts can be sorted and controlled. I feel like there is light at the end of a long tunnel now.

Haven't ebayed for a while...as with working fulll time its hard to find time for everything! But am hoping to get rid of a few of DD's things soon when i sort her room out.

I am in full swing of payments now and have a lengthy calender set up for 12 weeks in advance so i know where the money is going and making sure its in the right place.

Everything is good good good. We still have £48818.74 of debt to pay off but we are doing it, and life is a little easier than it has been in the past.

Hope all is well in everyone else's journey. I promise to get back to posting more often.

Great news about the job - you kept that one quiet but well done. So glad it is all positive there for you and you are still going strong on the debt front. The 12 week calendar sounds a brill idea too. Enjoy the rest of the weekend - hope you get some sunshine. Look forward to more posts.

a quick update is needed me thinks!!!

well the debt is still slowly reducing....off the top of my head it now stands at £47000....thats with everything!! we now have a nice saving fund too...which is what i always wanted.

I know some people would say use the savings to pay off debt....BUT .... i really feel in our case its important to have something at least to fall back on.

i do keep meaning to post more on here...and i will i promise...but for now all is well. We had a huge amount of debt which day by day with effort is decreasing...and without he wisdom of this site...probably wouldnt have! so thank you all.

  • well here is to me starting my diary again!!

To make a good start I have just paid of the smallest CC we have in full! £373.45 less on the debt front!! woop woop!! That gives us an extra £13.00 a month elsewhere.

Have done a new snowball calculator and our DFD is showing as August 2013!! But im hoping with a little bit of extra effort we can beat that. Although 3 years will soon pass by Im sure.

Our disposable income each month is slowly creeping up so im hoping to use that to our advantage and pay things off slowly. Im going to pop it into a saving account until it reaches a level where we can pay the lowest bill off in full. I think that way it will give us motivation.

Next target £520.84 to Black Horse!! This will then give us an extra £55.08 a month to use elsewhere. Wish us luck!! :D

Have now got a sealed tin on the go again. Im going to use that as christmas money. Going to keep popping money in until december the 1st and then crack it open and count. whatever is in there is all im using for christmas.

    hope everyone is well.

  • well, OH's over time pay landed with this weeks wage so we are now one loan down as I have just settled the Black Horse Agreement. £520.84 gone and £55.08 better off a month!! whoop whoop!! Between that and the cc paid off yesterday thats a nice £68.08 a month more in our pockets!!

Been out with OH tonight for a meal. Not very MSE but i figured we deserved a treat!!

Next target £684.75 for the next smallest loan. :j
