Hey people. Im thinking i need a bit of guidance. I posted on here a few months ago with an aim to start losing weight and now further down the line, have achieved nothing. Im trying to eat healthily have joined a gym. Im going about three times a week at the moment (aerobics on a Tuesday and gym Thursdays and once in the weekend) Im not sure if this is enough. I have considered joining slimming world and have found a group near me and was wondering what other peoples experiances of SW are. Is it worth it? I am very busy and hardly ever have time to myself - Could i join SW online and get the same results, im not sure if i would benefit more by having the group motivation.

My sister is with SW and it works for her, when she sticks to it. Atm I think she's more off it than on it, due to holidays etc. If u feel u need group motivation, join in the chat here, very friendly and encouraging. Pretty sure there are a couple here who have done or are on SW too. So i shall !!!!!! and let them talk to u

More - I am a SW member. I joined a few months back lost my first stone then felt I had all the info I needed to continue on my own, I didn't think the group was all that important. I then spent 3 months only ever staying the same if not gaining. I joined a new group 5 weeks ago (I moved house) and I now know the group is more important than you think. I've lost 7lbs in 5 weeks, the most successful I've ever been! The group gives me motivation, determination, a slight pang of guilt when needed! and my consultant is on call everyday should I have a complete wobble to keep me on track.

I use the SW internet tools too. I track my progress and there's a massive sense of achievement when I can build my graph with that long sloping line! The Syn calculator is used almost daily in my house and every once in a while I read the stories and letters to keep me going. The recepies are wonderful!

Although the online subscription is more expensive than going to group and you miss out on so much! Go for the group! :T

More, I don't do SW but just want to say that I have done online diets in the past and have lost a bit then lost the plot and gained and yoyo'd all over since I joined RC group I have consistently lost weight (nearly 4.5st since Oct07) which I don't believe I would have managed without the class support. Its a case of finding something that suits you I think, what works for one won't for another iykwim. Good luck with whatever you decide.

Well its weighin for me tomorrow so am planning a good day
exercise dvd at home with my mum then exercise class tonight (will do ironing when I get in from class to avoid the munchies!)
    Food wise,
    B - ready brek
    L - Gammon & veg
    T - chicken salad & potato

What do you all do to avoid the munchies?? all tips welcome!! x

  • More -some great advice re SW -I alwauys lost better with group attendance, even though I found the evenings tedious at times - and don't jut go for the weigh in, you need to stay to class to start building friendships in th group if you can as that helps the motivation. Hwever - if you have us too that is twice the support.

Hope you are feeling better today kpc.
dmv - are you on target to finish your uni work in time to have acomplete break before year 3 starts? Hope you feela bit better this week too.

Well done mazza for another 1lb off and the size 14 experience:T:j
Some else has dropped a dres size too but i can't remember who - but excellent news.
Mazza - I echo what has been said re daughter but you soun a supportive mum, so when the time comes, maybe at least she'll have you to turn to for motivation and inspirtion. Poor girl has been through a lot hasn't she. Has she had a counselling over that situation? That is a lot to cope will at any age let alone 18.

I am very pleased with myself that i finally got out on my bike yesterday:j. I was very slow , especially with westerly headwind and didn't get very far, but i was out for 40 mins which was a start so very pleased with myself. I would love to build up my strength gradually but can't and won't make promises as my body jut can't deliver som days. I just need to take it day at a time.
    Meeting bails in an hour:j.
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once

Great news about the cycling BB! Hope you enjoyed it! Slow is good for general healthy exercise, what counts is getting your heart rate up for 30+ minutes as you will have done, not what speed you are going.

Have a virtual wing-sticker for your top tube ;)(if anyone understands that other than you and me, I'll be mightily impressed...)

Bad day here today, had a cadbury's whole nut, couldn't resist, and then off to buy my DS a birthday cake, chose the biggest chocolate one they had in the shop :D So will probably be naughty with that too..

Oh well, those size 14s won't be big on me for long at this rate.
