Great stuff Beanie! Life is to be enjoyed! :T

Welcome RVK2, you're in the right place for lots of help and support. Just a suggestion but if money is tight, maybe you could not join WW yet and give it a go with us first? Only you know the level of support you need so only a thought.

Why not tell us a little more about yourself? You don't need to share how much you weigh (unless you'd like to) but you could give us a first target you're aiming for, what exercise you can/like doing etc etc so we can help you as much as possible.

    Good luck with it!

  • what bails said rvk - i'm sure someome on here can tell you how to work out what points you can have; then you could pick up a book off ebay or something? I would also say that if you hate exercise, don't join a gym! Having learned from experience, you stil ldon't exercise, you just feel more guily cos it costs you more. Look for a weekly class or something, or just walk to the shop each night for a paper or something.

Sorry to hear about your burglary, Rosie :(

Welcome RVK, I'm fairly new here, too, and I want to lose about 3 stone magically - no rigorous exercise, not diet clubs, no extra costs involved, no calorie counting and no fancy meal plans. I believe it can be done. :D

Day 2 of NO PASTILLES or LIQUORICE ALLSORTS!! :j:j I had to sample a couple of mint creams, though, as I'm making after dinner mints for someone and needed to know they're up to standard. (I know I should have just broken a piece off rather than eat a whole one!) The eat nothing after 9pm rule is going to be fully enforced this week with NO slip-ups involving sweets whilst watching TV in bed at night! :o I have 2 weeks of this month left and then I want to be into my next size down jeans.

Mazza - are you my relief postman when the regular one's on holiday? Shorts? :rotfl:

  • Hi all,

Hello RVK:j, I'm pretty new here too, it's nice to have other newbies!!
I struggle too with not eating convenience food, I live myself at the moment, so cooking a homemade meal for one seems a bit of a waste at times!
I always make a massive pot of homemade soup and divide it up into containers in the freezer, that's one thing I've found useful and easy. Also, your daughter might like healthier foods like chicken fajitas or stir frys, they don't have to be too greasy!
Sorry I don't have any actual recipes, I tend to just throw things in the pot when I'm cooking (when I decide to!);).

Anyhoo, hope everyone has a fine and dandy day, I've got sore legs after my step class last night, ouch!
    Love weesmiler xx

This is an excellent tip from KPC, I'd leave the gym membership until/unless it's something you really want to do :) I'd say start off with small manageable exercise targets, keep a log of what you've done and increase slowly over weeks & months, trying a variety of things if you can, to see what you like and dislike.

What about committing to an extra hour a week of activity, either in one go with a leisurely walk or yoga class, or split up any way you like e.g. 10 mins a day 6x a week - don't count anything that you're already doing as part of your daily routine though :) Choose gentle activities at first, and you can gradually do more as you become stronger and fitter. :D

I am sorry but I didn't post last week as weigh in didn't happen. I have lost 1lb since I last posted to go on the list. Thanks granny for keeping it all up to date.

I have bought a Kaliko outfit in a second hand shop to wear for a wedding next month and it is still a bit tight so I must lose some more weight a bit faster than I have been doing. I was 14stone and am now 12st 4lbs so I do feel I am doing okay but it is taking a long time. That means my total lost is 24lbs since I started with you I think about two years ago. Seeing it written down does help but it does seem realy slow. My practice nurse and GP keep telling me that losing slowly is the best way but I am now getting impatient. The meds, especially the steroids don't help.

Well done KPC on your weight loss!

I am going to try doing some hydrotherapy exercises at the pool later today. I guess every little helps.

"Too cold here for shorts!!!" I second that Beanielou

Hi RVK2:hello: welcome from another newbie. You'll get loads of good advice and encouragement here from everyone. :D

I tried to eat slower last night and it worked :j although i didn't do the pepper thing - OH had made dinner and as he thinks he turns into Marco Pierre White when he enters the kitchen I don't think he would have appreciated me *disrespecting* his dinner even if i had finished:rotfl:You should see the state he gets in if I don't wrap his sandwiches in cling film properly after he has loving sliced and diced . I shouldn't complain he does cook some lovely food .... if he just didn't use every item in the kitchen to do it..:D

Healthy eating could be out the window this weekend - OH just got promoted in his new job :j(is this a record he started 3 weeks ago!!!) so I feel a meal out coming on. Me complain - eat the healthy option .. no chance I'm with Beanielou and Bails on this one. I'll exercise like a maniac at the gym to make up for it.

A warm welcome to all our newbies. For those who don't want to try any of the big clubs. Why not do what I done, cut out all the rubbish and try to eat healthily. Here I am almost 4 stones lighter with this method, and trust me, if u can do it so can u!!! Now need the boost to help me lose some more :D

Oh and stop being such wimps, it's still summer! :p Seriously, try carrying a 20kg bag up n down blocks of flats and then u will see why so many posties wear shorts mid winter. Not been allowed out as yet, as we've had a naughty postie, who's mistakes are being sorted out by u know who. Won't go into too many details in a public forum, but needless to say a prosecution is pending. And that's what I've been doing all week, sorting out the ensuing mess.

Spoke to my friend last night that I was supposed to be going to Portugal with and it "might" be back on, we've had a good chat and came to an understanding. So let's just hope we can find something at such short notice :D

My weight has been weird this 2 weeks but TOTM arrived unexpectedly midshift today. Been a bit irregular since i took those stupid pills to keep them away for a few days while i was away, wouldn't mind but they didn't work :( Hey ho, live and learn.

Good luck for this week everyone
    4 Stones and 0 pounds or 25.4kg lighter :j

Rosie - sorry to hear about your break in, thats really horrible. Must have been a pro to be able to break in without 5 of you hearing it, maybe it was good you didnt. My boyfriend said (who is annoyingly reading over my shoulder) said to check out second hand shops to see if you can see any of your stuff. If you havent already you might wanna get one of those UV pen jobs to mark your items just incase.

Talking of said boyfriend, i am internally annoyed ha. The other night he went to help his friend with a computer, in doing so i was left waiting outside the flat because i forgot my keys (he knew this but decided to make me wait) In the process of parking at this persons house the car has a massive scratch on it because of a van and now today the sodding internet wouldnt work and i dunno how many trojan horses and other stuff i have on here because he was downloading stuff for his friend to fix it. Argh!!!!

    Rant over :)
