Lose weight 27

STS from last Wednesday.
Still 77 kg.
Or should I say, back to 77 kg because that's the lowest I've been, was 77 kg on 1st September when we went on holiday, got back to it a week ago and then up again - back down to it today.

Hi guys, i'm very new to this forum stuff - in fact you're my first. I've read some of your posts and thought i would ask if I could join. I need to lose about 1.5 stones, don't really have a deadline (right NOW would do nicely - if any of you have magic wands...). I'm trying to eat properly and actually stick with my gym visits (Usually stick it out for a week or two and then give up for a month). As much as OH support is appreciated I need the discipline of a weekly weigh in. So if you'll have me...
Of course will have you, stick with us and all the help and support you get on this thread is invaluable, I managed to loose 7 stone so it is all good, keep with us:D0 -

is it harder for someone with an underactive thyroid even though they are on thyroxine.
thanks
I used to 'save' up the cals, foods, snacks for the evening sometimes, if you are great all day, loose some cals during the day by keeping busy, keep moving, don't focus on foods and 'save' some for the evening so when it comes to it and you eat, snack, you are not actually going over your daily cal allowance, you are just eating them when you need them:D0 -
Good morning, this is my first week reporting back after making a conscious effort to LOSE weight rather than just prevent it increasing further. I have tried to cut out snacking between meals, have kept a note of what I eat and have cut out supper. I haven't changed what I cook or eat, though, so progress may be slow down to the fact that I cook & bake a lot, sample everything I make and live with a coffeeholic
Those are all my excuses, now for the results of week 1:

Ugh. I've gained this week. +1.2lb
Yet oddly enough my waist has shrunk 1/2" and I've stayed the same fat % wise. So I can only assume that I've gained more muscle0 -
Sounds about right, bananasplit. I was trying the C25K running programme and didn't lose a single ounce despite body shape starting to alter. Had to drop out through injury but fully intend getting back to it as soon as I can.I reserve the right not to spend.

Welcome Vicki+1 and PepPop to our lovely thread.
Vicki - I do calorie counting too, and I also try to keep my carb levels down, and any I have as complex as possible (so oats, wholegrains/wholemeal, etc), and I keep my sugars down too, because they are carbs also, and get converted to fat so effectively by the body. I use the website foodfocus.co.uk which is great for logging everything you eat, and you can compile entire meal's/menus into your regular foods list to use. It's free too, so even better!
PepPop - I think you've hit on the key to success there. Sticking with regular exercise, and trying to make it just a normal, regular part of your life will be how you'll both lose weight, and keep it off. The usual thing that happens is that we go full pelt with dedication to get the weight off, then we stop, and the weight creeps back on again. To be truly healthy, a bit of exercise has to be a part of it. If you get bored with the gym routine, why not go just a couple of times a week, but then introduce an exercise video at home, or a bike ride, brisk walk with your OH. Stephen Fry has lost lots of weight recently, and attibutes it to both cutting back on simple things such as carbs, and walking while listening to talking books on his ipod. Perhaps it just means finding a form of exercise that you can truly enjoy?
Good luck anyway, and regular posting here is very helpful for all of us. The 'chart' is compiled every Wednesday evening, so post a loss/gain/sts (stay the same) sometime before then, in bright bold text, so it can be found more easily.
BB - I am like you, I just 'know', almost instantly, upon meeting someone whether they are 'right'. I used to work in HR and I was always asked to fetch interviewees from reception, because I would be able to tell my colleagues, prior to them even having their meeting, whether they would get the job (it was a very diverse array of jobs on offer too, and some would have up to 3 interviews + psychometric tests). I had a 100% record after 8 years!
I think Victory's wise words sum it up suitably.
Granny - that p/t role sounds wonderful, and I do hope you get to rub off some of your 'granny magic' onto those new heads, so that we have heads passionate about children, and not budgets.
Missy - I think I did answer your question, although not with much info, because I've yet to find out any further about my friend's new diet/fitness plan. We were meant to chat last weekend, but she didn't call as planned, although it was a very loose plan. I will keep you up to speed as and when I hear though, as I think it will be a very comprehensive programme.
Well, the low carb plan is going OK. This will have been the hardest week really, with 2 celebrations having been in the middle of it. What I have realised is that it is certainly cheaper to fill up on carbs, and I am trying hard to keep my shopping budget to a minimum. I may look at getting some bags of chicken portions in Farmfoods next time I go, and roasting some so that I can have those for lunches. Lunch is definitely where I seem to struggle for ideas, and I don't always feel like a salad, and the soups I used to have are too expensive now. I have got some new recipe books though, so am going to stock up on some cheap veggies, and make some soups, which should be much cheaper. I can then freeze some portions too. As Victory says, planning!
Anyway, pleased to see the scales going in the right direction, so reporting a -2lb loss for me this week.
That could be down to my BF dragging me out for a bike ride last night 'round the block'. 5 miles later....:rotfl: We even went via another village! One day the clocks will stop, and time won't mean a thing
