ffm know exactly what you mean about the red ring of death or as ebay likes to call it RROD:D eldest one has already had it and fixed free in Germany by x box, we have cried the tears of RROD in this house already:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: no, not getting one off ebay will get one from game or game station where they give you a guarantee for 6 months, anything is better than nothing or from the eldest vast amount of friends who all have one but come xmas will all be selling in a desperate bid to raise funds for the new ps3 slim line out:D little one wants x box older kids ps3 there will soon be a glug of them:D
Made spare ribs for all of them with a chuck in whatever is about in the cupboards marinade and they all asked for more, getting good at this:D served with rice, they are not asking what else is coming from the book and the answer tomorrow is arroz con pollo which was on last nights show:D
Thanks for all the good wishes about the interview next week, am very adrenalin rushed by it all, thought I was a lost cause, have not got the job but it feels like it to be wanted:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::D0 -
victory, I so hope you get this job. Getting an interview is a real breakthough:j. Loving the culinary sucesses.
welcome elfen & cat queen. Catqueen - congrats on taking the plunge with the forums - warning, they are addictive but I have made some great frinds here over the last 2 years:D
Elfin - I have been on meds that make me hungry all the time and it is so hard isn't it. In my experience it is not a hunger that can be ignored in any way shape or form. The drugs I am on now cause the same problem, but to a much lesser degree than the others. For me, doing sw was a sucess as I could eat a lot of food on that, and easily do extras for OH, like potatoes to keep him full and happy.
I got up to 13.5st too and hated it. I lost a 2.5 stone, though the latter half of that I had come off the worst drugs, so don't know how I would hve fared otherwise. I have put about a stone back on with the new drugs, but have stayed the same on that for some time now.
Quite a few of us here have health/meds issues so you are in good company.
kpc - tyhat must have been really hard for you. I am finding with the loss of my friend, funny things trigger the tears.
I did something I have never done before today: I bought a carpet:D. Well 2 actually:D:D. They are going to be fitted end of next week and I am tragically excited - it feels so grown up. The house is all floorboards but the downstairs room I let is quite cold, due to no foundtions - the floorboars are basically over a chalk pit, so I want to insulate it a bit better.
Lodgers leave on Saturday so I need to decorate and carpet by next friday. Then I decided to do the open plan dining room (come walk in larder, bike store and laundry room - we rarely actually eat in it) too as it is north facing and unattractive and it needs help, and I have never liked the 'room'. So I spotted an of cut of lovely deep orange which will look very nice. I've been squirreling away money all year so I have the funds.
Mazzza - glad to hear dd home and checks still on going.
Good to hear form you too FFM - are the family joiing you in geocaching?I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once0 -
We have laminated downstairs and carpets upstairs, I hate with a passion the laminated because so much as walk on it and every single little piece of dirt shows up, I am forever walking around with the broom so the family tell me in unison 'put the broom down and walk away' :rotfl::rotfl:the rooms all downstairs are too vast financially to carpet , hey gonna' win the euro millions tomorrow and that will be the first thing I will do or would that be a holiday home in Spain first?:D
I am really pleased for you that you managed to squirrel away the money because there is nothing as good a feeling as being able to afford/pay for it and then it is yours, we do that all the time in this house and finally when you hand over the money it feels exciting:D you and your carpets are going to be very happy together:D0 -

Congratulations to everyone on a successful week
Welcome to catqueen and elfin. I too am new on here, but like to keep up to date and everyone is friendly (unlike some forums I've stumbled across!) and as an added bonus it's all free to us money savers.
Victory - good luck with your interview, hope it goes well. I'm sure you already know this / have been told, but during interviews I always try and forget that it's a "big boss" doing the interviewing and that within weeks of getting the job they'll probably just be your friend like any other person. Helps me to relax a little more as I do have a bit of a superior complex. Not explained very well but hope you get the gist!!
Mazza - glad that DD is out of hospital, but it must be frustrating still not getting to the cause of her pain, hopefully the professionals will work it out soon.0 -
Victory, Cazzy has made a very valid point regarding the interviewers. I occasionally have to do interviews myself as the interviewer - I don't particularly enjoy it as I am usually a bit nervous too, I don't think it comes across to the interviewee, but worth you keeping in mind that they might be as nervous as you. It can be really awkward if there are silences whilst you try to think of another question to ask them. We do have a pro-forma to follow, but you can't literally read each question as you go, otherwise it comes over very 'wooden'.
So, if you are friendly and chatty that will help them.

Thanks what I am trying to do is go in with another angle, the shop floor has 4 ladies on it, all older than me and I have been in a fair few times 'chatting them up' making them laugh, trying to make them like me and remember me so when it comes to the interviews and picking they will say ' oh that girl that comes in, the one with the smile that makes us laugh, she will be great to work with, let's have her' a bit of who you know rather than what you know, that is how I got the last job, they saw me and knew that I would 'fit in' these ladies have their tried and tested old routine that they are comfortable with and they are nervous to include another person into their gang so they have a say on who would be best and me popping in will make them see me as just me and be remembered as someone that they can work with and will not threaten their established closeness:D
I have two faults when nervous, I forget to smile and rabbit away for the sake of it at speed, I have to reign that in, if I don't smile I can look harsh and if I talk for the sake of it I make no sense, OH always picking me up on that, I will just have to see them in my mind naked or on the loo :rotfl::rotfl:0 -
I have just been to the shops to get some condensed milk for a recipe I was doing and am not going to do now, I have never used it and did not know that 31% of it is sugar:eek: as a diabetic there is no way I could let my kids have that, I mean I might as well spoon the sugar into their mouths:rotfl:that recipe is off, the arroz con pollo looks and tastes fab, may have gone a bit ott on the spices but I reckon they will like that, tomorrow is coronation chicken from the same book.:D0

How about this for something stupid? I put in a best offer on an item on ebay, I never knew just because you put in a best offer you are committed to buying it, get an email saying my best offer has been accepted and pay now:eek: all the time I spend on ebay never knew that so have apoligized to him, emailed saying he can leave me negative or go through paypal anything that I would be furious if it happened to me etc but I jsut did not know, what a silly thing to do, no funds to buy an x box now three months before xmas that is for sure not that is his problem, I need locking up:rotfl::rolleyes:0
-
He has agreed to me paying £5 for his listing fees and that is the end of it, I am a very lucky person he could have disputed my incredibly stupid act and insisted I pay up so I am relieved to say the least:D am I keeping this thread going today on my own?:rotfl:0
