  • Good luck Victory - I had a brilliant interview question once when I asked the interviewer (my boss-to-be) to tell me something about himself - how come he was in this job, what does he like/dislike about it etc etc! It threw him initially but he then rabbited on for about 10 minutes without stopping - worked a treat!! :rotfl:I got the job and only left 10 years later after taking voluntary redundancy (the boss had left years before!!)

Well it was our wedding anniversary yesterday so OH & I went out for dinner last nght at our favourite restaurant. They have a new chef & new menu where everything is home made even the sauces so I felt fairly confident I could stick to the diet principles. I had a "fat" dinner with a starter of carrot & orange soup (I ignored the chunky white bread that came with it - very hard!!), grilled salmon fillet with hollandaise sauce, veg & salad (no spuds), then as a treat I had vanilla ice cream. I even had a glass of red wine with it (ooh get me the rebel, red wine with fish!! :rotfl:)in between my glasses of fizzy water.

I was totally stuffed at the end and it was all delicious. Better yet it gave OH & I a chance to really talk, something we dont usually get a chance to do. It just reminded that even after 17 years if marriage and over 20 years together in total he is still the love of my life (aaaawwww!!!:smileyhea )
To offset the sugar hit from the ice cream & wine I'm off to the gym this morning and will be going back to Phase 1 principles for the rest of the weekend. :D

hezza glad you had a fab anniversary:D

thanks for all the help re interview, not even nervous at the mo, thinking it will be monday going to try and treat it as 'a chat' rather than the stern interview, I had one once with three interviewers the good the bad and the ugly:rotfl: I had to sit in a chair while they were infront of me, all three of them firing questions, one lovely, one serious and one scribbling down what I said and looking thoughtfull, it was horrendous but I managed and got the job:D the only thing with me is I feel I have not done much but when you look at the new CV it is worded brilliantly and makes it look like I have and quite good actually:D

Good luck Victory with the interview and the car boot!
Miraculously a STS for me this week. Going to have to refocus a little in order to shift the last few lbs and an inch or two off my waist. Tomorrow's a whole new week.
  • Hello gang,

Good luck tomorrow victory. At my last interview (the one I didn't get, grrrr! which makes me think, what do I know.. lol) I had a couple of prepared questions, and I'm glad I did, because they covered the answers to the first one I'd thought of in their preamble about the role, and the business. I asked pertinent questions about the company (I knew it had recently had a big restructure, and was relocating in the future), and when they asked me how I was going to tackle the role, I told them that I would need to have a list of defined targets, ie. what they wanted, and when they wanted me to do it by, and that I would deliver on that. Interviewers often ask what your best attributes/strengths are, so tailor the answer to that based on what qualities they might be looking for, such as organisational skills, good communication skills, confidentiality, etc. I once totally bombed an interview being caught out with the same question and crassly answering 'I suppose my positive outlook and personality'... how embarrassing!

Hezzawith - I'm glad you had a lovely meal and anniversary. What a wonderful tribute to your DH too. I think when you're with your soulmate there is never a time you don't have something to natter about.

Well I've been a bit AWOL from the thread because the weather has simply been too flipping nice to spend sat on the PC. I've been lifting some bedding plants and potting them up to try to keep them through the winter months in the warm (and hopefully save money for next year). I've also had some success with finding the seed pods on some of the flowerheads already (violas, pansies, lupins and antirihnums) and those seedlings are sprouting well, and on Gardeners World on Friday they showed how you could get the seeds from cylamens too, so I did that yesterday. I've cleared the old lettuce plants that have finally 'bolted' after about 2 months of giving us salad leaves, but I have about 3 still giving us fresh leaves. My cherry tomato plants are still giving an abundance of fruit, so I'm making passata with that, and it was scrummy, and I am still getting strawberries too. I'm a fairweather gardener, so have to get out then while I can.

It was so lovely yesterday evening that BF and I sat outside with a cup of tea until about 8.30pm with a couple of lights on, and the light from my potting shed. We won't be able to do do that for very much longer I guess, the nights will be chilly soon enough.

I'm back off out into the garden again now. I have the eldest at church (he was an athiest until he got a new girlfriend!), the youngest 2 are playing at the park, the other one is off out soon, and BF and stepson are out at a bike show until later. I'm cooking roast beef today, so they always seem to gravitate back home for that.

Have a lovely day all, and I hope the sun is shining on you too.
One day the clocks will stop, and time won't mean a thing

Be nice to your children, they'll choose your care home
  • flying visit as very busy with redecoration etc.
Victory - brilliant idea re popping in - I think this is a very smart move, becasue at th end of the day, they want someone in a place tlike that that they want to work with. Wishing you lots of luck.

Hezza - that sounded a lovely anniversary

Off overnight to parents as taking mum to do her school talk tomorrow.
    Very very muggy here.

Had lovely lunch of baked pot &humous &corn on cob with salad , as dinner will be soup.
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once

I am quite envious of your gardening skills sary :D my strawberries gave out maybe 1lb of fruit all told if that, the cherry toms were just a handfull, the salad leaves a few, courgettes and peppers none at all thrown out since then over watered I reckon, I love being outside just helping things grow but my hands are not green:rotfl: next year it is back to maybe 3 or 4 things not loads like I had this year, the chillis next door look massive, even the bean that the youngest brought home from school from the morrisons grow your own voucher is struggling:D

Car boot sale today a few jumpers for the youngest, brand new football boots nike have to have that tick for the eldest, a few tops for OH and 2 weight watchers cook books for 50p each, not much this time but hey worth getting up at 6.30 am on a sunday for:D just a few more sundays to go and they stop because of the weather, it was mighty chilly today and no I could have done but never took a cardi and suffered:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:when will I ever learn?:D
