Welcome newbies Rosieposie, nm123, mirnish and me4bargains, great to have you on board!
Mirnish, if you don't like weighing in, then quite a few of us have measured ourselves all over (arms, legs, waist, hips, bust), and then every month do a re-measure to see the results. It can be quite dramatic, especially if you're doing some exercise.
Rosieposie, you share the same nickname as my goddaughter. Well done on your initial weightloss, and try not to be too disheartened. It's often the way when changing your eating habits that you have an initial large loss, and then struggle for the next couple of weeks. If you think that the ideal to lose is 1-2lb a week, you're already about 3-4 weeks into your's. Don't be disheartened, and stick with your eating plan (try not to give in while feeling 'it's not working anyway'), and maybe try to fit in a bit of extra exercise, even if it's a few short walks, using the stairs more, etc. Stick with it, and it will work. A STS here is a good thing, so well done! Also, remember that time of the month (TOTM) can add lbs, so take that into account.
Annie - welcome back, of course we remember you.
Victory - I'm loving the vision of your son sat watching the empty tankMy 15 y/o went all round town this morning looking for more work. He's desperate to earn more money. Last week he was doing extra paper rounds to earn more cash, but long-term that's no good, due to school, and he's capitalising on other kids' laziness during the holidays at the mo. He wants to be on the road on his moped come November, so has to save up for that. I bought the Food Doctor books a few years back, but found the diet hard to do. Eating within certain timeframes really doesn't suit me (read on further.... :rotfl:)
Granny - I'm sure you could do with extra time off. Don't get me wrong, I love the holidays. I love not having to set the alarm, no routine, and doing what I want with the day. When I first gave up work to be a SAHM I took my watch off, and I've not worn it since! It was my little act of rebellion, and it stuck. I really dislike having to stick to routines, and like to be able to take the day as it comes. Unfortunately, I have a house full of men who thrive on routine, so I'm the spanner in the works. The boys are missing their friends they don't get to see during the hols, and are missing the routine school brings. The next school year is a biggie for them all; eldest has A levels, 2nd eldest has GCSE's, 3rd eldest starts secondary and will sit the 12+, and my youngest has Y5 to actually start to learn to concentrate and do some work, before he has the 11+ this time next year. It's like spinning plates sometimes, and I wish I could dedicate more of me to each of them. It's my youngest who's the biggest worry though.
BB - my carb craving is still here, but TOTM has just arrived, albeit a few days early, so that explains why. Your day out sounded lovely, and glad the legs are improved.
Dinah - WOW! congratulations, what a wonderful surprise! Had you any idea? Tell us more details... I do love a romantic story. I don't know if my BF will ever propose you know. He talks about us getting married, but that's not quite the same IYKWIM. When my husband proposed it was over dinner in a small restaurant, and he had the ring already, and when I'd said 'yes!' I told him to put the ring on me (thinking it'd be romantic and all), and he put it on top of my head  there was a message for me there surely?
Tonight I am off out for a chinese meal with some friends, to celebrate one of their birthdays. We've not been out for a while, and with £ being so tight at home right now, it'll be a fair while until I get to go out again soon. I'm already dreading Xmas shopping... how sad is that? I've got some bits on ebay, taking advantage of the 10 days free listing at the mo. I'll not lose anything by trying I guess. As it's TOTM I even forgot to weigh this morning, so will try to remember tomorrow, but for now I'll suggest a STS to save myself the heartache. One day the clocks will stop, and time won't mean a thing
Be nice to your children, they'll choose your care home0 -
crumbs sary I am sure you are related to me we think so alike, today, I have been finding all the xmas stuff I have put away and forgotten about along the way, starts in January and whenever I see something then I get it, last night was talking to OH about xmas because I said I was getting stressed about it because of what happened last year stretching ourselves miles too far to get the wii and then having it sold, so we all sat down and discussed it to my eldest nearly howling because he fears he won't get enough and what is the point etc:rolleyes: spoilt brat, so today I have spent a fair wack of it desperately trying to find 'xmas' stuff, the little one apart from a main present including santa treats/sweets/biscuits etc is covered, my OH has baileys and bits and bobs but the eldest has.....nothing:rolleyes:
Eldest is trying to get a job, went to morrisons today but nothing, good luck to yours:D mine so wants a moped also but we told him to put one on the road is too costly for us so he has to find himself a way of paying for it or at least half:D his mate has just been round to 'gloat' about the 5 day school trip to the USA he is going on but mine can't because it is..wait for it....one child....5 days....october...£850:eek:
I am hoping my eldest stays on for 2 years when he finishes school next year and little one stars year 5 very excited same teacher, he is investigating what the probs are with him, he cannot seem to speak/read/write to the year standard and dyslexia has been discounted, intelligence, lack of interest, hearing, eyesight, all the usual def not so they will run some professional tests, I hate that term special needs but a teacher is going to assess him one on one with me there at the start of term, we shall see...

I knew he was thinking about it, but I thought he was thinking about it for some time next year, not last weekend!
After church on Sunday he suggested we go for a walk up Roseberry topping, a hill aout an hour away. So we wheezed our way up that, the top was really busy, but on the way back down we stopped in an oak grove on an old log and he got down on one knee and said I made him happier than he ever thought possible, would I marry him? But there was no ring! He hadn't wanted to get the wrong size, but the lady was keeping the shop open for him, so we finished going down the hill, tore into town... and it was shut!!! So we went for a celibratary Callipo and Flake 99 for him! Worked out for the best though, he showed me the ring quote and I hemoraged inside, £1499 for a white gold 0.23 carat solitaire.... so we went online, and found a ring we both prefered for similar money, but its a lot more ring and in platinum which we wanted as I react to a lot of things and white gold seems to be possibly one of those - pretty ring link - for those interested. It arrives on Friday and I am very excited!

Wow! Finally caught up on two weeks worth of posts.
Went to visit my mum in the highlands for a week and completely ignored my diet and enjoyed it thoroughly. Came home had put on 4lb unsuprisingly, wasn't too bothered as I had enjoyed every mouthful.
Then went for a week in Marrakech. Two meals a day at a half board hotel and because of the heat, walking round the town and swimming. Weighed myslef this morning and had lost all but the last 1/4lb:j
I know Tue isn't my normal weigh in day but Granny a 0.25lb gain for this week's chart and then I'll do my usual weigh in on Sun and see if exercise and normal eating can at least shift the 0.25lb. Had a good shopping trip and stuffed my trolley with fruit and veg to go with fish turkey and venison. Looking forward to my next weigh in.0 -
congrats dinah! what a romantic story. v pretty ring too0

I've tried them - lost 13lb in 4 weeks. I don't think that's sustainable weight loss....i.e. I think that it'll slow down but I'll let you know!
Following the directions, it tells you how much fat and how many calories to eat, and then reduces the amount of fat you absorb. I've had no side effects at all. Also been taking them a bit sporadically, partly as they're expensive and partly as they say not to take them if you're having a low/no fat meal, as they work on fat - so for breakfast, for example, I don't take one. Hopefully that won't mean that I balloon when I stop completely!
Also been exercising more, but I think it's the alli and that it forces you to watch what you're eating that has done the most!0 -
Hi guys, i promise i will catch up soon i've been away from this thread for too long
A quick update, i've been bad no workouts for weeks, but instead i've replaced them with lots of dog walking and long bike rides. Yes after all the messing with the Electric bikes we finally got it sorted out
It's been great to get out and about enjoying the countryside. Weight wise i've maintained the same weight for 2 months now, i think my body has settled at it which is cool :j I'm going to be uploading pictures from our bike rides, here's the link to the album let me know if you have any issues and i'll pop them on photobucket.
Take care guys and lose lose lose :rotfl:Cross Stitch Cafe Member No1WIP: Cross Stitch: - Crochet:0
