In addition to the fact that the child minder smacked the child, which as others have pointed out, is totally against the rules, why on earth was the child minder in M&S doing her shopping ? She was being paid to do a job and personal shopping trips should surely be done in her own time not when she's being paid to care for your child and provide his early years education !!!!!
  • i take my kids shopping all the time learning is not just being sat at home doing stuff we go out count talk about colours etc etc alot can be learnt while out and about including while shopping

Which the childminder in question was OBVIOUSLY doing....whilst the child hid under clothing rails (EVERY TIME.....how often do they go to m&s lol) and then has the time to run off and go on the rides. Hmmm...lots of EYFS goals being met there i do NOT think!

*Does not watch the child sufficiently to ensure that he is safe at ALL times in a public place.
*Admits to physically punishing a child in her care
*Child has mentioned on prior occasions that childminder has used physical force (which is a distinct possibility as the CM admits to using physical force as a behaviour management strategy and evidently believes there is no issue with this fact)
*Child seems Worried or Scared about returning to the CM's care.

    FIND ANOTHER CHILDMINDER!!!!!

(Seriously, is this childminder meeting the needs of your child and fulfilling your ideal person specification for someone who you pay to care for him?)
Baldrick, does it have to be this way? Our valued friendship ending with me cutting you up into strips and telling the prince that you walked over a very sharp cattle grid in an extremely heavy hat?

"There are times when a slap on the bottom (of one's own child, not someone elses) is a quick, painless answer to a difficult or dangerous situation that has arisen. I think screaming at or threatening a child is far more harmful, long term. "

Have to take issue with this comment if smacking is painless WHY do people do it?? Of course it inflicts pain that is the point. Sounds to me like a bit of defensiveness to justify smacking. If you are going to smack stand by your actions. When people (I include some of my friends in this) justify it by calling it a little tap they are not comfortable with what they are doing, it is a smack and it HURTS!!!!!

It is much less painful than many alternatives - quickly done, and quickly over with. I hear Mums screaming at their child within 6 inches of their faces and to me, that is far worse than a smack on the bum (incidentally, how painful can that be through layers of clothes). It's not the pain that brings a child up short, it's the shock, especially if it's not done on a regular basis.
I let my mind wander and it never came back!
