Hi,
Just a quick question. I was just wondering how long usually after sign up with MAAF I will be able to get online and start surfing. I am seriously considering joining, but time is a factor.
Plus, will this amount of time be the same for other providers?
Many thanks.never knowingly underwhelmed.0 -
if it's a new connection - typically 7-10 working days - true of any ISP... though more likely to be closer to 70

Hi StephenHartley,
I've had a review of your post and I think that I can help shed some light on the matter.
As you've pointed out, it's the mail forwarding on your domain name which is causing the issue. What happens is that Apache throws its hands up and says "whoa, these mail server details don't match the SPF records. This looks like Spam".
We use SPF as an antispam tool. The majority of email where records don't match does turn out to be spam, and we want to keep this away from our customers inboxes.
The general feeling is that putting the details of a hosting company's server into the SPF white list would defeat the point of having SPF as a spam reduction tool.
I hope that spreads more light on the issue.
Kind regards,

Hi Samara (or anyone else who may want to offer any help),
Realise I might not get an immediate response given it's Easter but thought I'd post this before I log off for the day!
My Madasafish bb connection went live yesterday, a day ahead of schedule. Tried connecting today and all went well up to the "connect to broadband" stage (step 6 in the quick start guide with my Voyager 2091 wireless router).
My laptop is a toshiba with vista and I'm using the 90 day trial of Norton internet security.
I've followed the instructions in the quick start guide and tried all of the troubleshooting ideas but while I can connect to the router I can't connect to the internet, so I can't get to the Voyager 2091 Configuration manager screen to enter my maaf broadband username and password.
Only tried connecting wirelessly as nothing will open on the drivers, manuals and utilities disk (keep getting "error opening..." messages) but assume I shouldn't need to use the cd for a wireless connection.
Happy to clarify/expand on any of the above, thanks in anticipation of any help. Have pm'd you with my maaf username Samara.0 -

The address that you enter into your browser i.e. http://192.168.1.1 is the IP address of your router. You say that you "can connect to the router" but can't "can't get to the Voyager 2091 Configuration manager screen to enter my maaf broadband username and password" which makes no sense!
You need to connect the Ethernet cable between your PC and router first and then enter the address to get to the routers configuration screens. Follow the information in the user manual. No drivers need to be installed. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
Thanks espresso. Just done what you said and it would appear to have worked! To be honest, I expected to have to do that from speaking to someone who had recently gone wireless.
What threw me was that this is step 5 in the quick start guide and it says "optional if using a wireless connection", which is what I thought I was doing!
Thanks again, let's see how fast this thing can go now!0 -

Remember if you are using wireless to set up strong security using WPA-PSK with a long random key from here.
You will have to be patient regarding the speed, as it can take 10 days to set your lines max speed. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
Cheers espresso. Plenty fast for me after years of dial-up but I'm aware of the 10 day period. Off out for the day but will take a look at the security issue. Something to do tomorrow!
Have enjoyed the sheer novelty of fast surfing, downloading a track on i-tunes and been on the phone at the same time as being online!
Thanks again.0 -
Hope someone could help me here.
I have set up WEP for the security purpose a while ago. My main PC and Wii access internet wirelessly fine. But when I tried to access internet on my Mac mini today, I can't. I put in the same and correct WEP password, but just can't. The Mac is just beside the Wii.
Can someone tell me why?0
