  • Sadly that number doesn't work! it only takes you to reception who will just give you 0845 373 1376 to call.:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

  • Received e-mail confirmation this morning that my MAAF b/b was ready to use. It is - a day earlier than the last estimate. Easy set up and no problems whatsoever (so far). We got there in the end. If I were to be brutally honest I haven't noticed much difference to my previous dial up!?
However, a big thank you to Samara for her help and time with this.
  • Hi Oldagetraveller,

I'm pleased to see that you're online :j

When you first connected to our broadband service you commenced the 10 day testing period. During these 10 days BT is testing your line to figure out what the maximum speed is that your line can carry. Your speed may fluctuate a bit or be slower than expected - don't worry this is completely normal and things should leverage out by day 11.

It looks like right now your averaging between 2.3Mb and 2.8Mb speeds - if you could please make sure that you're connected to the master socket and that you've got 1 microfilter fitted to every phone socket that is in use. Also please make sure that your using the phone cable that arrived with the router and not a longer one.

Please keep me (us) posted on how things go for you.

    Kind regards,
    Samara

I have been a customer of Madasafish for the last 12 months and have NEVER had a download speed of more than 1.95mb, even though I should have and was promised upto 8mb.
Also I am constantly plagued with the broadband line disconnecting.
I have complained and get told to contact the hel[pline, at MY COST!!, ansd also get told that it is to do with the lines inside my house, or the filters. I can disconnect all the phones , filters sky boxes and still have the same problem and inferior download speed. So you can imagine my frustration.

I am now on the looking to change my ISP to a more reliable service than what I am geting at the moment from Madasafish.

Just switched to Sky. So far so good, up to 8mb speed (getting 5mb which is max speed on my line), 40gb/month, wireless router and all at just £5/month...a bargain.

No regrets at leaving maaf. Overpriced if you ask me...Don't really know what's so great about them?

Reubo, I respectfully suggest that the reasons you are getting unexpectedly slower speeds just may not be down to MAAF.

During the summer of last year I too was getting dreadfully slow download speeds with lots of disconnections. Once past the first set of contacts at MAAF and got to people who didn't just work from a script before shrugging their shoulders and tell me that all was OK although it clearly wasn't, and actually gave some thought to the problems, MAAF were very good. It took four visits from BT engineers but eventually (after 4 months of testing) the problem was traced to an obscure fault in a short stretch of wiring between outside my house and the master socket, and once this was replaced consistent speeds of around 3.5mb were obtained. Given the distance I live is from the exchange I do not think that is too unreasonable. By the way, it would seem that the variable speeds I posted a couple of weeks ago that I was getting were down to congestion at the exchange which extra capacity just installed seems to have fixed - thanks to Samara for investigating on my behalf.

If you do switch ISP's I would be very interested to see if you get an improvement, do please report back one way or the other.

PS I am with you on being told to contact the helpline at your expense - when a problem is clearly nothing to do with your kit that is a bit cheeky - Samara, suggest you take note.

    Hi Madasafish Customer care

I notice these days that in the morning when I try to dial in to MAAF, the dial in stops at verifying username and password and times out with an error which says remote computer not found. This happens on almost all mornings. Very frustrating. In the evenings when I am back home it is all back to normal.
Have you any cluse why this might be happening. I am guessing it is because of peak loads but really your hardware should be able to handle that ?
  • Hi Gherkin,

Could you please PM me your Madasafish username, your Operating System, the make and model of your router (Ati3/Ati4), the number that you're dialling and the exact error message that you get.

I'll see what I can do to help you out!

    Kind regards,
    Samara
