Thanks for that Samara. All my defences are up to date and various scans do not show anything so hopefully I can be fairly confident that all is OK with my machine.
Each message contains a gif to click on (of course I never do) together with what seems to be irrelevent verbiage. I have received at least 25 'cannot deliver' messages in the last couple of days so heaven knows just how many are actually getting through.
I am damned annoyed that this stuff is going around under MY name though - just what the hell do these people get out of creating and propagating this (insert your own adjective!)?0 -
Hiya
I am going to change my isp as virgin's broadband is terrible atm most of the night I cant use the net as its far too slow and time's out. The customer service is terrible and they keep blaming my computer?!
So my question is if I change to Madasafish will you make sure that my broadband is usable? So I dont have to wait till 1am to get to surfing speed! I am wairy of changing and still haveing terrible speeds......
Thank you
Sarah0 -
Hi Ella2ethan1,
It's hard for me to compare the Virgin service directly with ours because I don't quite know how they manage their traffic from the inside. So I can't make any claims to being better or worse. However what I can say is that on our services if you were getting disconnections this is something that we would investigate - we wouldn't expect for you to be getting disconnections.
There is a good tool on ADSL guide where you can compare two service providers based on customer feedback. Here is a comparision of Madasafish vs Virgin based on customer feedback.
Kind regards,
Samara
Edit: It's worth noting that the most common cause of disconnections are microfilters - either being installed incorrectly or being faulty. Have you checked that you have a microfilter fitted to every phone socket that is in use in your home?
To check your microfilters for a faulty one please unplug everything from all phone sockets in the house, test each filter from the test port from within your master socket by connecting to the Internet. If you get a substantially lower sync using one of the filters you’ve found your faulty one and it will need to be replaced.
Double edit: If you're changing providers make sure you do so using a MAC. You request a MAC from the ISP that you're moving away from and give it to your new ISP. When you switch using a MAC it means that your service can be transferred to your new provider with a minimum disruption to yourself. Sorry if you already knew that - just wanted to double check!Madasafish Customer Care0 -

Are you sure you are not sending out stuff? You may know that you can double click on the connection icon (don't know the proper name) down in the bottom right hand corner of the screen. The amount sent should normally be well below the amont received.
I mention it because I once had a virus which was sending lots of stuff out but did not show up in a checker. I had to take the machine to a shop to put a stop to it.0 -

Not quite sure which icon you are referring to but your post (thanks for replying) inspired me top have a look at my daily usage history on the MAAF account page and thank heavens it is showing that I am not uploading anything more than the usual.
Another 25 or so 'can't deliver' messages received today together with a couple from people containing abuse for my supposedly sending them malware.0 -
Hiya,
We only have 1 phone plugged in as the other phone doesnt need the phone line its plugged into the electric iyswim....So do I onlt need 1 microfilter (that I have and been using for the last 2 yrs)? Or should I have more microfilters on the other sockets even tho the phone isnt plugged into them?
Also that socket has the sky plugged into it as well. When I switch does Madasafish give you a microfilter as well as a router?
Is the router the same as a modem?
Sorry for all the questions...I have actually been able to compare tonight as have a surfing speed of 235kb WOOO better than the 25 last night! So am phoning virgin tomorrow for my mac code and I dont have to sign up untill I get me mac code do I?
Thanx Sarah x0 -
Ah, I know the icon you mean. For whatever reason I don't seem to have that one available (something to do with XP Pro?) although I have had it showing on a previous machine (Windows ME).
As I said before, should I need it I can get this info from my MAAF page.0 -

Don't know. Why have you got Pro - far as I understand it is really not meant for home use?Boxman wrote:As I said before, should I need it I can get this info from my MAAF page.
Hopefully so, though sending emails might not require much usage.0 -
