From what you're explaining my team told you, it sounds like there must have been a decrease in your sync speed.
If there is a decrease in your sync speed your throughput speeds will drop quickly. When your sync speed increases again it will take at least three days for your throughput speeds to increase.
Kind regards,
Samara
Hi Samara
My speed has now improved after 4 days from 0.8 to 1.3. Will it continue to improve every 3-4 days until it is back to its old self.
Thanks0 -
Hi Donglefan,
I've been trying to respond to a recent PM and your inbox is full.
I'll try sending it again later!

Hi Samara,
I am having trouble with my speeds & would welcome some advice please.
Using an extension socket I only get around 440 - 450 Kbps. I connected everything to the master socket where it enters my house & the speed improved to around 570 - 600 Kbps. I then connected to the test socket behind the master & speeds went up to around 820 - 900 Kbps.
I have decided to go with a wireless connection, but I am wondering whether a filtered master socket is likely to improve the speed rather than using a micro-filter. I have tested the micro-filters on the system & they all give the same sort of figures.
If a filtered socket is the way to go, could you suggest where I can buy one from please.
Many thanks

Hi Izzitme
Based on the variations of speeds that you're getting a filtered faceplate might help. I would recommend looking for an NTE 200 or SSFP faceplate.
I've never personally purchased one, but I can imagine you can find them online at Maplins. There may be some moneysavers on here who might be able to point you in a better direction.
I remember seeing in the microfilter thread that people were buying their gear on eBay. eBay have such effective marketing that now even when I type the word eBay I hear the music from their jingle in my head.

Hi,
I’ve been with MAAF for over a year but have just opted into the 8mb upgrade that is available.
Could anyone tell me roughly how long the waiting period is to be upgraded?
Thanks.0 -
Hi, Samara, when I joined MAAF in Nov 2005 I initially chose a domain name which 48 hours later I wanted to change for one which was a bit more ‘catchy’. Unfortunately I was told I was too late to change it (fair enough, it was my fault) so instead for an extra £20 opted to open a ‘Justmail’ account with the new name.
When the initial 12 month contract had been fulfilled I asked if I could transfer the ‘Justmail’ domain name to be the domain name associated with my main account but was told by your customer service people that this was not possible and to retain the name I would have to keep the ‘Justmail’ account open at an extra £20 pa. However I have just seen your post 506 on this thread that seems to suggest that it is possible for me to transfer the domain name to my main account.
Would you kindly clarify please?0 -
Hi Uncle-Buck,
As most of our customers have upgraded to speeds up to 8MB already - there is currently hardly any waiting period and you should be upgraded within about a week of placing the order.
Please remember about the 10 day testing period that occurs once the regrade has happened.
Kind regards,

I am with Virgin at the moment on their £17.99 up to 8megs, I have been with them for three years now, since I was maxed it has gone from bad to worse, the daytime is not too bad ranges from 1800 - 2900mbps but after 18:00 it drops to between 200 -350mbps. I know this is a busy time but it is worse than dial up.
Your checker shows that I can get up to about 5995
Could I expect to get better speeds during the evening if I migrate to you ?
I have a speedtouch 330 modem, would I get better results if I used the free router that you provide?
Finally how many email addresses could I have and wouod I be something@madasafish or would it be abbreviated ?
TIA
Regards

Hi Boxman,
Sorry that it took me a while to get back to you - I just wanted to triple check that I've got my facts right as I've never personally swapped domain names over.
There is a good result and I'll be more than happy to swap your domain names on your accounts for you.
Could you please PM me the usernames for the two accounts and which domain name you want with which account and I'll get it sorted
Kind regards,

Hi Trisha,
I'll do my best to answer your queries!I am with Virgin at the moment on their £17.99 up to 8megs, I have been with them for three years now, since I was maxed it has gone from bad to worse, the daytime is not too bad ranges from 1800 - 2900mbps but after 18:00 it drops to between 200 -350mbps. We do run a contended service, which means that you're sharing the pipes with other people - so speeds will fluctuate, however I would not expect to see such dramatic fluctuations as what you're describing above. As your speeds are dropping severely at a certain time of day it sounds like overcapacity on the part of your current ISP.
Quite a few of our customers participate on the thinkbroadband forum and I hope that you'll post there asking our customers what kind of fluctuations you can expect in your speeds at peak times. Here is the link to the forum.I have a speedtouch 330 modem, would I get better results if I used the free router that you provide?
I would recommend taking our free router for two reasons:
The Speedtouch is a USB modem only and thus I would recommend taking our free hardware. The Voyager 210 has 1 USB and 1 Ethernet port - I would recommend using the Ethernet port to connect as it takes less resource from your computer. If you use the Ethernet port, you don't have to install any of the software that comes with the router.
The Speedtouch is only connected to the Internet when your computer is on. The Voyager 210 is connected to the Internet as long as it's left on and it's connected to the master socket, independent of the status of the computer. Being connected all the time to the broadband service seems to work out better on 'speeds up to 8Mb' as the more data that the testing system has to work with, the more 'true' your speeds will be.Finally how many email addresses could I have and wouod I be something@madasafish or would it be abbreviated ?
You would have unlimited options for email addresses and each package comes with 3 password protected inboxes. Additional password protected inboxes can be purchased in blocks of 5 for £19.99 a year.
You get one email address that is in this format: yourusername@madasafish.com
Then you get unlimited email addresses ending in @yourusername.madasafish.com
You can also claim a free domain name ending in .co.uk, me.uk. or .org.uk and set up email addresses in conjunction with it. For example if the domain name trishamoneysavingexpert.co.uk was available, you could claim it. Then you could have the email address trisha@trishamoneysavingexpert.co.uk.
