Hi Samara,
The point Quentin is making though is covered further down the page you linked to.
How and when do I pay?
All TalkTalk customers must pay by Direct Debit. All call charges and charges for your call plan will be deducted from your account 14 days after the bill date.
So it isn't a CC charge as such - it's charged for any/all non - Direct Debit payments whether that's a cheque, credit or debit card payment, a sort of reverse of the situation applied by energy suppliers who usually give a better rate to monthly DD customers.0 -
Hi Ian W,
Thanks for that - that's really confusing.
Can you help clairify; you must pay by Direct Debit but if you want to pay by any other means than it's £3.50? So I would be able to pay by Credit Card if I wanted to and if I did then I would have to add £3.50 on my bill?
Thank you!
Kind regards,
Samara
Edit: I found another one phrased like this with Telewest : "Prices quoted are for payment by Direct Debit. Payment by any other method will incur a monthly £4 administration fee."Madasafish Customer Care0 -
I just wanted to say : Hooray for MAAF and the ability to monitor my broadband usage online
I got an XBOX 360 for xmas and, as it's the last day of the month, I checked my usage and it was about 2.7gb so I downloaded 2gb of game demos

Hi Samara,
The family have clubbed together and bought me a new PC to replace this almost unchanged one from '98.
I want to start on the right foot and having done my research, it looks like MAAF will be my chosen BB ISP.
Can you run past me the pros & cons of the following options:
GET A BIT OF A DISCOUNT: I can enter CHEAPER or a friend's account number . (He who is singing the praises of MAAF, has a friend in your management so perhaps he is a bit biased?). Do both of these options still work and what does each one give?
WIRELESS v STANDARD ROUTER: The standard router, best connected via an ethernet cable, is "free". But we have ambitions not to be tied to the inconveniently sited master socket and we hope to be able to use two computers at once; how much extra is your recommended wireless router ?
The new box is a DELL and theoretically already wireless enabled. Do you think an amateur, like me, will find the wireless router no more trouble than the wired one, to get up and running ?
Best wishes,

Hi Harryhound,
Congratulations on the new PC! I'll do my best to answer your questions:
DISCOUNT
The referral code will get you £10 credited to your account and £20 credited to your friend's account. Thus I would make an arrangement that if you use his code he'll throw you back a fiver (or at least buy the next round at the pub). If you use the cheaper code you'll get £1 off a month for your first year of service (value £12). So you're better off striking a deal with your friend and getting £15
WIRELESS v STANDARD ROUTER
We currently have the Voyager 2091 on offer for £25 + £5.99 P&P. It's a pretty good deal for that router. Also, we don't network lock so in the future if you do wish to change provider you'll have hardware that you can also take with you. The router comes with complete instructions for how to set it up. I set up a Voyager 2110 and Voyager 2091 on my own just following the instructions on the box and it was really simple and straight forward.
As with using all wireless devices I would also recommend going further in depth and set up some extra features to secure your network. Here is a link to further security instructions for the 2091.
Hope that's helpful!
Kind regards,

Hi Miniemma,
Wheeeyhey - an Xbox 360 for Xmas!
I finally figured out how to get my Macintosh networked wirelessly to the Xbox so that I can sync the music on my Mac to that on my Xbox. It's really cool to have that function!
Now it's just a matter of time until I can get my hands on a copy of Lost Planet. Can't wait!
Enjoy the Xbox!
Kind regards,

I'm not sure how to do it on a PC - but I'd assume that it should be easier than setting it up on a Mac.
I think I've found some instructions that might help here: http://www.xbox.com/en-US/support/systemuse/xbox360/digitalmedia/pc.htm. It looks like you must be running XP.
If any Mac users are reading this, here is the product that I used: http://www.nullriver.com/index/products/connect360

I get a little malware from time to time addressed to the domain associated with my account which I always just delete without opening any attachments.
In the last few days I have been receiving 'Cant Be Delivered' type e-mails which make it obvious that attempts are being made distribute malware which is allegedly coming from my domain. My worry is that these are coming from my computer due to some sort of trojan although (to the best of my limited knowledge) I have good defences, and also scans using Adaware and Spybot do not show anything up.
Can anyone advise what to look for please?0 -
Hi Boxman,
It's quite possible that it's not your machine - it could be somone that you emailed has gotten infected and the trojan/virus is sending out emails using addresses found on the infected machine. There are known viruses who do this.
As far as making sure that it's not your machine - manually go and update your antivirus software and adaware software then perform a full scan of the whole system.
Good luck!
Kind regards,
Samara
