Hi Samara and thanks for this info. I am currently on a "up to 8mb" however never get anywhere near it as plusnet have had severe delays on upgrading their customers. I would be going for the max monthly payment as you recommend although all this current stuff about the parent company does make me a wee bit wary!
    cheers

a 96% fall in share value! mega ouch!
  • Hi Keefrto,

All new sign ups are provisioned at the 'up to 8Mb' speed. However please note that the speed that you get will depend on the length and quality of your line.

    Kind regards,
    Samara

    Hi,
ok. currently I am on 2mb (never get it) and am on waiting list for upgrade to 8mb. I am 150 metres from exchange box so should stand a good chance of getting a decent speed then? I need to go and find out if plusnet charge me for mac etc. I think not as I am not in a fixed contract

  • Hi Keefrto,

If you go to the first page of sign up and enter your phone number and tick the box that says that your line is a BT line - on the the next screen there is a box in the upper right corner which will estimate the speed that we believe that we can bring you provided that there are no problems with your line.

If you don't complete the sign up - there are some ISPs that will call you if you enter your telephone number into the box on the sign up pages to try and strong arm you into completing sign up - don't worry, we don't do that.

    Kind regards,
    Samara

all looking good so far, speed test states 8mb or greater. heres a quickie though, do you think plusnet will give me the mac code using the number on maaf website to request it or do you think they will email me?

reason i ask is the current cs is awful at plusnet and they take ages to get back via email. really prefer to spk to someone.

you'll never get 8mb - even if your in the exchange.... let alone greater!

your'll be more likely to get around 7Mb, than 8 even if next door
