Hi Deefadog,
For the usage question I'd like to point you towards the My Account section on our website. You're able to check your usage there at any time.
Because we want to make sure that you know when you're about to go over your usage allowance we will email you to let you know. We'll also email you again for every GB exceeded.
The hardware is sent on the day that we get the 'go live date' thus provided that there are no problems with the postal service it should arrive a day or two prior to your service going live.
Setting up is actually really simple! All the instructions come with the router and if you're using the USB connection you'll need to install the drivers (which come on a CD ROM enclosed in the package).
Here are a few basic things to keep in mind:
1. If you're using a Macintosh only connect using the Ethernet port.
2. During the first 10 days you're going through a 'testing' period where we're trying to figure out the best speed for your line. You may get slower/more erratic speeds than expected however this should resolve itself by day 11. If you can, leave your router on (your computer doesn't have to be on) for those 10 days.
3. You'll get better results if you connect from your master socket.
4. Make sure that all the phone sockets that are in use in your home are fitted with a microfilter.
It's all pretty simple stuff and it's easy to set up.
Keep posting or PM me should you have any more questions!
Kind regards,
Samara

Hi Guys,
Good news: we've updated My Account - it should now be a lot easier to use, not to mention easier on the eye!
Bad news: It's come to our attention since launching it yesterday that for some customers the speed test is not reporting accurately. We'd like to apologise in advance for this and I'd like to let you know that we're working hard on getting this corrected.
Kind regards,

In what way does it read incorrect ? over or under ?
I checked my speed today and is said 4.5 instead of the normal 3.5'ish.
Does this mean that my speed has NOT increased ?0 -
Hi GaryS,
For some customers the speed tests were working as normal (ie. they were getting speeds in the region that we expected them to). However we also had customers who were getting speed tests of 10Mb, which is pretty impressive (and not possible) on an up to 8Mb service.
I've be very wary to say whether the speed that you got was correct or not, however there are other speed testers out there that you can use to check!

Hi got my router today! I'll connect this up when i get home from work, should i do this today or wait 2 day until i do this - how will i know when the connection ready to use?
Thanks0 -
Hi Deefadog,
You can set up your router now if you like - you'll know when your connection is live because you'll actually be able to connect.
Generally speaking you can usually connect one day prior to the date that we tell you - so your connection may go live a little earlier than you anticipate!

Thanks for the speedy response, last question honest
- i used another MSE'ers referal to join up with yourself, The £10 off i get, will that be deducted from the first bill?
Thanks0 -
Hi Deefadog,
The referral credit will appear as 'pending' in both of your accounts until payment of the first invoice (we need to ensure that your service goes live prior to applying the credit). Then the credit will be validated and applied towards your second invoice.
I was reviewing the Referral program today and I was amazed as one of our customers has done 20 (£280) referrals since the program launched in May 2006 - which is essentially 1.5 years of broadband paid for! Wow!
Kind regards,

Thanks Samara.
