Hi Deefadog,
PM sent - just in the nick of time!
Cheers,
SamaraMadasafish Customer Care0 -
I've just joined this website forum as I have been with Madasafish for 6 weeks and am totally dissatisfied with their service. They set me up on September 2nd with the Madasafish MAX Broadband (8mb) option. For the first week I got 3mb on average which I was very happy with, considering the location I live in. However after 1 week it begain to slow down and within a fortnight it had dropped to 0.12mb where it has remained apart from friday and saturday just gone where it averaged 0.8mb.(coinciding with me just having complained!)
I've made over 20 calls to them now and each time I speak to what sounds like the same person, who each time seems to have to start from zero again and try to get me to unplug my router/change my router/change my filter and on each occasions states he is going to raise the issue with a supervisor who will raise it with BT.Then 3 days later we go through the same rigmorole again. I got beyond the original excuse of it being a busy time, by proving it doesn't matter what time I go online. It's always the same speed.
Here are the most recent test results:
0.12Mbps 16/10/2006 16:13:48
0.12Mbps 16/10/2006 11:55:29
0.12Mbps 16/10/2006 11:34:32
0.11Mbps 16/10/2006 06:45:10
0.11Mbps 15/10/2006 23:52:49
0.12Mbps 15/10/2006 22:31:19
0.12Mbps 15/10/2006 22:09:35
0.10Mbps 15/10/2006 21:59:13
0.84Mbps 15/10/2006 18:07:44
0.89Mbps 15/10/2006 14:42:02
I have called BT myself who state I have to ask my ISP to contact "BT Wholesale" but they can arrange an engineer to come out to my house, however if the engineer finds nothing wrong with the BT equipment I will be charged £140 by BT.
Is this a common problem?0 -
I am in the same boat.
During the 10 day stabilisation period, the speed was acceptable - varying up to 5mb/s.
As soon as that ended I seem to be on just 1.4, and my requests for help are in an e-mail loop of "go through the troubleshooting" (which Samara has already put up to try before contacting them).
I was advised by tech. department to get a short connection from the wall socket to the modem, then by Samara to get an ethernet cable, but when I try to get this clarified, I get the 8 step troubleshoot routine again!
Maybe going public here might help?? (I have e-mailed FAO Samara, who asked for my user name, sent it last Thursday, but nothing except the 8 steps again)0 -

1. What router are you using, and do you know what its syncing at?
2. How are you set up, is your router next to your master socket, or is it on an extension, etc?
3. Have you done the BT test, to see what BRAS Profile your on, and copy and paste the results here or on the techie board.

Hi
1) I use a speedtouch 330 modem.
Since the 10 day set up ended (during which syncing at 3168000 to 5696000) it is usually 2784000/3296000.
2) Connected direct to the master socket.
3) I've tried to do that test, but there seems a fault at the BT end - it never completes.
Many thanks for your help. (Where is the techie board?)0 -

Hi
You do know that usb modems are not really recommended for broadband, a router is always better,
Thats a pretty low synch 2784-3296 for MAX, thats about a download speed of 2.-2.5mbs.
As for the BT test, you have to keep trying, it does it eventually

No I didn't!
(I did query the modem before starting with MAAF but they said it's fine)
If I get one now, will it make any difference (bearing in mind I am out of the 10 day set up period)
I'll persevere with the bt test.
Do you think I will have to cut my losses and get a MAC and try elsewhere (the MAAF line indicator which you see when you first enquire said it expected "Estimated line speed 6Mb or greater")?
Thank you for your help.0 -

Hi
I would personally buy an adsl router/modem.
Since MAX is a rate adaptive connection, this means it will adapt at all times to try and give you the best possible stable speed it can, even after the 10 day period.
This forum is very helpful and you can ask/post anything you want, and very friendly
Have a look
