What's even more frustrating is being asked to call technical support as they have been unable to reach me. (since I haven't been out of the house and nobody rang the phone, It's mystifying why they can't reach me). Then when I call back (not a free call) I'm waiting for 15 minutes listening to piped music and a recorded message of how busy they are. I gave up after 15 minutes.
Shame not all of your company aren't as dedicated as you Samara!0 -
Just a quick question that someone may be able to answer?
I'm moving from IC24 dial up to madasafish broadband - will I be able to carry on using the IC24 email addresses (ie sending through madasafish!) and if so will it carry on 'for ever'?
thanks0 -
Samara:
I have also noticed that the Madasafish Phone packages are now up and running. I am very tempted, but the costs to call the USA are 2.5p a minute and I am currently getting 1p a minute on basic Onetel international rates.
The other question: I made the mistake of allowing Onetel to switch my home calls to them so I didn't have to dial the prefix number. If I switch my line rental to Madasafish, will that cancel anything that I have with Onetel, or will I need to contact Onetel myself to make those changes?0 -
Hi Rsvtoddy,
I'm pleased to see that you're making the leap to broadband from dial up - you'll notice the difference!
In response to your query:I'm moving from IC24 dial up to madasafish broadband - will I be able to carry on using the IC24 email addresses (ie sending through madasafish!) and if so will it carry on 'for ever'?
The answer is yes, you are able to keep your IC24 email address even when you sign up for Madasafish broadband. To do this, go through the sign up pages and on the page where it asks if you are an existing user, click that you are and in the field for your existing username enter your full IC24 email address and the password that is associated with that account. What that means is that any existing credit on your dial up account will be carried over onto your broadband account and your email address/domain name will not change.
And don't forget to use the CHEAPER promotional code on the first page of sign up - it will get £1 off a month for the first year.
Kind regards,

I have to chose a new broadband provider as I am moving home next week (to a rural area, no Talktalk or Bethere). However, I might only be in my new home for 4-8 months.
I am planning to buy my own wireless router, independent of the broadband deal.
What is the best option for 8mb Broadband service?
I've looked so far at Madasafish and Plusnet and of those two Plusnet's £47 cancellation charge beats Madasafish's 'pay the remainder of the annual contract' I think.
Am I missing any?
Is Plusnet the best for my circumstances?
Thank you for your time.0 -
Hi Teddyco,
I'll do my best to answer your queries:I have also noticed that the Madasafish Phone packages are now up and running. I am very tempted, but the costs to call the USA are 2.5p a minute and I am currently getting 1p a minute on basic Onetel international rates.
I think it's really hard to compare these two packages like for like, each one has it's own unique benefits and negatives.
Let's start having a look; firstly Onetel are also Talk Talk. Looking at the website it looks like calls to the USA are 2p a minute and ours are 2.5p a minute.
Looking at the Talk Talk website their line rental is £11.99 a month, ours is £9.99.
Our line rental (Talk Free package) comes with 500 free evening and weekend minutes to all numbers starting in 01 and 02. Their line rental (Talk1) comes with inclusive calls to all other TalkTalk customers.
As illustrated you can't really compare the two packages like for like - I think that the best thing to do is look at your requirements and see which one fits the bill best for you!The other question: I made the mistake of allowing Onetel to switch my home calls to them so I didn't have to dial the prefix number. If I switch my line rental to Madasafish, will that cancel anything that I have with Onetel, or will I need to contact Onetel myself to make those changes?
When you say 'dial the prefix' number do you mean call override? This isn't an option on our services either.
If you switch your line rental to Madasafish we'll take care of everything and make the transistion as smooth as possible.

Hi Samara, can we still use carriers such as 1899 with your phone deal?0
-
Hi Deefadog,
With our Talk service, because we offer reduced rate line rental and lots of free calls included, we do not allow for the use of carriers such as 1899.
Kind regards,

Thanks, that looks like a great deal - for me anyway, my 1899 bill comes in at around £11 each month and we only really make evening calls, i have a few questions though! As i can't seem to see these on the website
1) I have been a brand new customer with BT for about 1 month - what is my sticky time with them?
2) What time do the evening calls start and finish?
3) I see there is a Promotion or Referral code for this as well, what is the referal amount to each?
4) What are the mobile rates days and evenings?
5) Is it a standard 1 year contract and if so do you have a price frozen promise for at least that length?
Thanks in advance0 -

No they won't allow it.
See this thread for Madasafish's attempts to assure this money saving website we can save money switching to this service:
http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=242740
The only people who can save are those who don't make any calls at all during the day, and never make any off peak calls over 500 minutes a month.
Otherwise stick with BT and use primus for unlimited free off peak calls and you can continue using the 1899 etc routes for peak calls, calls to mobiles etc.
Note MAAF charge £1.50 for caller display (makes their line rental more expensive than BT, who give you caller display without charge providing you make 2 calls per month).0
