Here's a laugh - I've received another bill for 9.99 - I haven't been with MAAF for 2 months yet they still insist on sending me bills (even after I received reassurance that my account has been closed and all my details deleted)0

Hi Frugallass,
Could you possibly PM me your username and I'll look into this for you?“Official Company Representative
I am the official company representative of Plusnet. MSE has given permission for me to post in response to queries about the company, so that I can help solve issues. You can see my name on the companies with permission to post list. I am not allowed to tout for business at all. I don't have one, I am no longer a customer of MAAF apparently.
I emailed Shanelle who informed me that the invoice and the account has been cancelled but she hasn't yet answered my request for reassurance that no money will be taken from my bank or via my bank card.0 -
I think there is no need for some of the attitudes towards Madasafish here, especially name calling. James is helping many of us here but he can only do this is we PM him.
I have found him reasonable and helpful regarding my migration. Just give him a chance to sort things out.0 -
It's okay, I understand Mondaymorningitis
Frugallass - Shanelle has a callcentre to run. I imagine that she just doesn't have the time to deal with single customer issues (as much as I'm sure she'd love to!). I'm happy to help out if you'll give me the chance.“Official Company Representative

I posted on here to share my experience, I didn't ask for advice or help from James on this occasion.
James, no offence but I'd rather deal directly with Shanelle in an official capacity via email
Are you saying that we can only post positive comments about MAAF from now on? This forum is to share everyone's experiences, whether they be negative or positive !0 -
Following on from my recent mega-problems with my MAAF connection, I have dug out a previous speed test and compared it to a recent one.
Makes interesting reading, I have lost a bit somewhere !
Before any problem:
And the most recent one

Hi Gary,
The below picture (if I've actually managed to get this to work!)
It shows that you are currently syncing at 5056Kbps, hence the slower throughput speeds. this is probably being caused by the relatively high noise margin of 14dB. I don't suppose you know what it used to be? I can, if you would like me to, raise a fault to BT asking them to reduce it as long as you are aware that it may cause some instability. But if your line was stable at a lower level before your fault was fixed, then this shouldn't present an issue.“Official Company Representative

James, the readings from my router match yours almost exactly, but why the high noise margin.
Prior to the recent problems, the connection was stable and quite fast, only a few issues in a couple of years.
Since the BT Openreach chap came round the connection has been stable again, but the speed has dropped.
It does not really affect general browsing etc, so I am a little reluctant to have BT fiddle with it too much in case they stuff it completely again.
A little tweak would be ok if they do it carefully !!0 -
Hi Gary,
It actually makes a fair bit of sense. Because of the fault that you were seeing, BT would have increased the target noise margin on your line. Now that the fault is fixed, we need to ask them to drop it back down to what it used to be. You generally gain about 600-800Kbps per 3dB noise margin decrease.
Any idea what it used to be?“Official Company Representative
