Hi, I've been with MAAF for about 19months now with no problems, but recently i'm having trouble with the Voyager 210 ADSL router - it keeps cutting out (internet light goes out) and I have to switch it off and on again to get reconnected to the internet. It's getting very annoying now as I'm sometimes having to do this every 10 minutes!
Do you think MAAF would send me a new router? I am thinking of leaving as I could get a beter deal (and a new router for free!) from elsewhere, but I'm a bit reluctant as I've not had any problems so far apart from this.0 -

Probably James PN will answer your post but why not PM him about the possible router defect.
I'm sure if it is faulty MAAF will provide a replacement if they have any Voyager210s still available.0 -
Gambler,
If you are moving broadband from one line to another, then this can be done in two ways. There's the usual option of doing what is called a case and reprovide. We place the cease order, which takes 5 working days and then we'll place the reprovide order, which also takes 5 working days. This will normally result in downtime of about a week.
The other option, as has been mentioned above is to do what is called a Simultaneous Provide. This involves getting a Simultaneous reference (often referred to as a Fast Peter) from BT or your telephone supplier. We can then place an order to move your Broadband service on the same day as the telephone transfer. We need at least 8 working days notice for this.
Let me know if you have any further queries.
Hi James,
As I really need continous broadband access I've decided to go for the Sumultaneous Provide and will be calling BT tonight to initiate. Apart from the reference number what other information do you require? I have the telephone number for the new property along with the current ISP and account number etc. I don't have internet access tomorrow so will pm the details to you later tonight as we move in 2 weeks

As I've not had the courtesy of a response I think I'm too late for this procedure now so will be phoning to cancel tomorrow and signing up with a new ISP when I move. I posted the message above as soon as I had exchanged contracts on the new house.
Quentin, please could you confirm what I will have to pay MAAF? I am out of contract and have already paid for the month of May as I am billed on a calendar month basis.
Many thanks0 -
You will have to give 28 days notice (or payment in lieu).
If you give notice tomorrow, it should complete on 17/6/08, (or thereabouts), so they should bill you on 1/6/08 for just the 17 days (pro rata).0 -
Just to let you know that I'm now free from MAAF - my transfer to the Post Office has gone extremely smoothly and no problems so far......
I keep getting the odd random email from MAAF stating I owe 87p or £5.99 but I'm just ignoring them....... I was reassured that the account is closed and clear, so I'm not going to worry about it anymore.0 -
Is there anew rep on here form MAAF as i have found out Samara no longer works for them? Just querying all the ridiculous emails i have been getting from them the last 2 days, account closed, account reactivated, wrong amounts going to be taken out of my account etc0

I'm no longer with them yet I get emails on a daily basis :rotfl:

Hi,
has anyone noticed any degredation in download speeds over the last few days?
During the weekend just gone, I noticed that our Internet connection speed seemed "sluggish".
I ran the MAAF speedtest several times (and again tonight) and the reported speed is about 440 kbps.
Although we live quite a way from the exchange, we've always been able to get between 1500 and 2000 kbps.
I've logged a fault with MAAF and they're running some tests at the moment of which I will be able to see the results in a couple of hours (apparently!)
Nothing has changed with our setup, either hardware or software.
I just wondered whether anyone else was experiencing any speed problems.
