Well I hope it's not malware. Just done a scan and the machine is apparently clean.
Settings were changed as recommended by technical guy so in a strange way, I am hopeful it is a MAAF problem.
ha! tru, easier if it's MAAF's problem, what program did you use to scan?
    i'm sure you'v tried the following programs before and have tried your best to check you dont have malware, but just incase, try;
    SpybotS&D http://fileforum.betanews.com/sendfile/1043809773/1/spybotsd14.exe
    CWShredder http://www.trendmicro.com/ftp/products/online-tools/cwshredder.exe
do a online virus scan http://www.trendmicro.com/hc_intro/default.asp
do a online spyware scan http://www.trendmicro.com/spyware-scan/

hopefully its MAASA's fault, but doing the above steps will speed up the process because you'l have eliminated the possibility of your malware causing the problem. may also find additional viruses spyware which you wernt aware of... nothing to loose!
    good luck!
  • Hi Sloughflint,

I've added the notes to the escalation that you're still experiencing the problems and I've asked for my tech team to contact you again for further troubleshooting.

    Kind regards,

  • Just an update re my problems with my connection.

I received a call from Madasa customer care on Sunday and arranged to be at my computer last night to see if the problem could be fixed. After about 10 minutes of going through preferences were selected in various option tabs I then connected my Router via ethernet connection (not usb as I had it first time round) and touch wood since then have had no problems.

My machine had problems installing the router via usb for some weird reason (and after attempting a reinstall of the new router myself yesterday afternoon my machine didn't recognise the router was plugged in) I couldn't even get the old speedtouch modem installed via usb which had been working fine before the attempt at reinstalling the router.

Had no problems last night with connections at all so touch wood my problems are solved. I'll give it a few days to make sure its all okay then I will opt in to the line speed upgrade which they reckon will give me 6Mbps.

Thanks for the help Samara and the guy from Madasafish who called to talk me through the set up. (forgot his name already, oops)

I'm at work now but just before I left, Tech guy called me up and will call again later. Good that things are ok with you Crichierules. I wonder how regvardy is getting on?
S/he ( probably he) had similar problems to mine. As I left, the problem kicked off again. What can it be? It's totally intermittent and only lasts 5 to 40 mins. I had no trouble before signing up to the long queue for faster speed. Can it be anything to do with that? But if so why can I get onto some random sites? I hope it gets fixed tonight. Am still full of praises for the support offered.

Dont know if I should have started a new thread but will tack it on to the bottom of this.
Had an email from MAAF a few weeks ago asking me if I wanted to upgrade my 2mg BB to the newly available 8mg BB. I replied yes please and was told that I would receive an email when I had been 'sorted'. Havnt heard anything yet. Was just wondering how long it will take.
  • Hello Patgc,

We're currently submitting the requests as quickly as BT will allow us! We're processing them in the order which they were received.

    Kind regards,

Many thanks Samara, This is so much better than having to phone CS. Its a pity some of the other ISP's dont learn from MAAF.

If I want to leave Madasafish at the end of your twelve month period. Since I pay in advance will I get a refund of the remaining unused part of the month from when I transfer out?
  • Hi EdCov,

I'm afraid that we don't offer refunds on unused portions of the month. My best advice would be to use timing to your advantage.

If you wish to leave Madasafish at the end of your 12 month contract, call us when you commence the last month of contract and request a MAC code. Submit the MAC code to your new provider 7/8 days prior to your next billing date with us (check with your new provider how long it will take for them to migrate you in). This way the billing period for Madasafish and for your new provider will hardly overlap and you'll be migrated away prior to your next invoice from us.

If you are at the end of your 12 month contract, and you're happy with our services, why not get in touch with us and see what we can offer you in exchange for a new 12 month contract?

    Kind regards,
    Samara
