Thank you for such lovely messages - really heartwarming.

Pickle - I got the 8% acccount at HSBC. I had my business account there, and they were one of the few people willing to offer me a mortgage without 12 months of accounts. Anyway, they offered me a better mortgage rate if I opened a personal current account.

It is an HSBC plus, which is a fee charging account, but I calculated that I was still better off, as I got free annual travel insurance as well as a better mortgage rate.

I think you can get a 4% regular saver if you have a "normal" current account.

  • Hi Juliffe
I can understand the fears that must grip you re your daughters forthcoming reaction. It will be so good once February comes and then you will be dealing with what is, rather than anticipating what might be, which is always much easier.

Hang on to the fact you are doing this to give yourself and them the best chance of keeping a roof over your head as well as the chance (and right)to have a peaceful happy life. The role model of you, rather than being downdrodden, as laughing and hopeful and fulfilled will be a great gift to them. They will still have a dad, just not living with them.
You may also be giving your exH a chance to ultimately make a happier life for himself.

    Hi all,

    Thanks for the replies.

I think that OH is going to tell the girls today. DD2 told me that he is going to meet them after school (they finish at 1pm today), and take them for a pub lunch. So I am assuming that he is going to tell them.

Whilst I completely agree that it will be better when it is done, and we can start dealing with it, but at the same time I am sick with fear, and sadness. I did wonder if DD2 guessed what was coming too,as she seemed really sad. She said it is because she is worried about DD1 and OH getting moody with each other, and spoiling it. She said DD1 didn’t want to go.

Hope it is not as bad as I am imagining.

Hi Juliffe -it is just a horrid time and there is no way round that, so i won't pretend otherwise...
It must be so hard as a parent to see your children sad and feel at least in part responsible. Though I suspect you feel totally responsible.
    This too shall pass.
'Hang on in there' as they say. Big hugs to you.

You know we are here if you need to pop in later to off load.
