I downloaded "Orange County" onto my W995. Really enjoyed watching it on the way to and from work, embarassed myself laughing out loud a few times, certainly broke up the monotony!0

Hi, I am seriously tempted by this phone but last night I read a review that said the camera wasn't that great. Can anyone shed any light on this?
Thanks.0 -
I think the camera is very good.
HOWEVER, had my first problems with this phone last night, and they were quite big!
The phone had a variety of error messages when I switched in on - sim error firstly, switched on and off again, tried to charge, got error about only being able to use SE battery, had no reception so no usage possible. Aside from not being any use as a phone, it was very sluggish and just wasn't working properly at all.
I went onto the SE website and reinstalled the software, which worked, the phone is fine again.
I don't have insurance for the phone so was wondering if I should take out Orange Care ASAP? Since I paid towards the phone, it's only a month old and is in perfect condition I was wondering if the software reinstall hadn't worked, where that would have left me? Is it covered under the sale of goods act/other legislation?
Should I just get insurance anyway in case Orange try to use the old gem "water damaged"? Needless to say the handset's never been near water and is only about a month old.0 -
Does anyone know how this compares with the Nokia N95 8GB? I am looking to change phones as my contract with O2 is due for renewal soon and this one looking quite similar. Have been fairly happy with the N95 8GB as I like the fact it feels quite solid and sturdy and good quality (compared to many flimsy plastic-y phones that are out there) but I find loading music onto it from my iMac not very user-friendly. It originally had the Spiderman 3 film on it, which I watched, but since then I have never loaded other movies onto it as I would not know how and in any case the screen is a bit too small for looking at for 90mins! I do however occasionally stream YouTube stuff.
In short I'd like a phone similar to the N95 8GB in build quality and sturdiness, with a good camera also, easily able to transfer music and videos from an Apple Mac, and to synchronise my iCalendar and Contacts and emails, and easily update my blog. The N95 8GB is a bit thick, so I'd prefer something a bit thinner.
Would love to hear from someone who has used both phones and can therefore give me a comparison.0 -

If you brought it from Orange than you are covered from the sales of goods act but getting Orange to act on it is other matter. But there is other way you can get it fix, and hence why I would not brother with the orange care cause that will have a £25 excess, monthly charge and dont even get a new phone back. If there is a problem with handset like the one you describe, send it back to Sony Ericsson who will fix / replace it for you under warranty.0 -

The phone is covered for the whole length of the contract you bought it with by the provider (in this case Orange) for replace or repair if faulty.
As for insurance you can usually add it as an extra on to a home policy which covers loss/theft/accidental damage for around £50 a year.
The only thing the care package does (apart from the insurance aspect above) really from what I can see is to give you a phone to use whilst yours is being fixed.
SE phones have a 2 year.manufacturers warranty as standard anyway. It's just usually easier to walk into a providers shop on the High St, hand over the phone and get them to deal with it.0 -

no it is not cover by duration of the contract the phone and contract are seperate things. and even if it is, it very hard to get alot of shops (and in particular orange to honour their sales of good act.) just look on here / newsgroup discussion about orange to see after 6 months they say "you need to take out orange care for us to repair it." If someone want to drop it at a shop dont know Sony ericsson have an agreement with CPW but Nokia does hence can drop those handset in a CPW. Might be able to do the same at CPW repair centres.0
