Wow, that's a ridiculous amount. If you've still got time on your contract I'm not sure if you have many options, but otherwise yes, phone up & ask for your PAC code & see if they try to offer you a deal to stay. Nothing to lose!

    Good luck :)

  • Surprised! I just went onto the orange website to see what would happen if I tried to upgrade onto this phone online. I was expecting a charge for the handset but they applied a £50 discount so I would get the phone for free, and on the same plan I'm on now. Since it's the online version of the plan you actually get more minutes. My contract ends 26th June, don't know if it's specifically to do with that - but there was a bit on the site that said upgrading online gives you the same as new customers. Not sure whether to push it and phone retentions as well to try and wangle some data on. I'm not good with things like that though.

Forgot to mention - it was the Dolphin30 plan which is £24 odd a month for 400 mins and unlimited texts.

Just tried it on Dolphin25 plan and it works out free as well. 200 mins and unlimited txts for £20. I think the red version of the phone works out more expensive for whatever reason - presumably because it's an exclusive thing. My mum prefers the red one, but I like black better. Wouldn't pay extra just for the colour of it anyway.

Who did you manage to do that through? I phoned up phoned4u and started a new contract.. dunno about it now cos I will loose my number :(
    Tell me your secrets please!!

I thought you could always take your phone number with you - at least I always have done.

Well, I got the first info on Orange's own site. I logged onto my account and clicked on the link to upgrade. Because I'm right at the end of the contract it might have made a difference, but I'm not sure.

After that I phoned retentions - by keying 150 on my phone.

All of that is only relevant if you're with orange, I don't know if you mentioned who your provider was?

You will have a cooling off period if you started the contract over the phone, you can decide to cancel it within 7 days (I think it is 7).

I'm with orange, tried on their site and not there :( I haven't got the new phone yet, I know I have 7 days cooling, so might phone orange up at the weekend too see what they say, as if they could offer me what I have with data included and even if I paid a one off payment so be it but only if it works out cheaper than the offer I've been offered by phones4u.
    Sorry to be really blonde!

How long did you have left on your contract? What package were you on, and what was your average spend? If it was anything similar to mine I don't see why you'd have a problem getting a similar offer.
  • My contract has finished finished last week, spending approx £50 a month, but has been over £100 on occasions. also have data bundle for £7.50 and insurance each month, should I just order here and cancel other one? Would that be ok?

I would cancel the other one first, just to avoid problems. I would phone retentions as well again, with the amount you have been spending you should easily get a better deal than a new customer.
  • JUst tried to call them can't get through to them they are closed :(
The guy did say I'd have a 7 day cooling period
