I can't seem to get wifi working, and I'm in range, - right beside my router!!!
    Anyone able to help???

If it is from Orange - wifi is probably locked to Unique manager, Unique allows calls/text via wifi where you have no/poor Orange signal. Orange prefer you pay the network internet usage.

Only BlackBerry's seem to escape the wifi lock down on Orange Unique handsets.

That's probably because BB phones has a specific wifi browser.

My Unique HTC Touch 3G is the same, I just unlocked it with HTC specialist unlock-now.com within ten mins of paying.....just need to load generic firmware now to get wifi, use my old BB 8120 when I need to use Unique ;)

I was fascinated by its spec but when i looked at its spec i had to step back. its battery is pants....just 900mah....nokia 5800 has 1320mah.......you got all the functionalities like wifi, camera etc...but had it been a good amount of charge in the battery i would have definitely voted for this.
  • I have had my phone for over a week and really like it but I've got a wee question so wondering if anyone is able to help me!

My screen saver doesn't work, even when I go in an manually set it - it seems to work for one time then doesn't work. And my camera pics, I can only view them by going into media (not file manager)
Anyone else having these wee hicupps? I don't really want to phone up Orange and pester them cos its not a major thing

    Thanks

Hi - You should be able to see your camera pics in File Manager ok, so there might be a problem there. I've been able to set up & screen saver to work ok too.

The only problem I've found so far is the delay between choosing items & the phone actually going to them, and that's not all the time.

I got my w995 upgrade from Orange last week, and i have to say im quite impressed. I have used the Wi-fi and can confirm that Youtube and BBC iplayer work great! You also have the option to set the wi-fi to priority, i.e. it will connect to any availible wi-fi signal BEFORE connecting to GPRS.

I originally wanted the Samsung Tocco Ultra but the guy at Orange retentions convinced my that this phone is better. After threatening to leave to Vodafone (who originally offered me a better deal), I managed to get an even better deal too- 800 anytime min, 1300 texts, unlimited land line calls, 80mb internet data, magic numbers carried over and the phone for free for £20 a month!!! And i get to keep Orange Wednesdays!

Well that's me had my w995 for 2 weeks now on Orange, an upgrade, but today it gave up the ghost with the message "Battery cannot be charged. You must use a Sony Ericson battery"

Faulty phone - replacement on way - please let this not be a common bug. Phone is great apart from that.
