Hi Christina - well I spent last night playing around with the phone & getting all the stuff from my old one onto it. I think I've got it more or less sorted & so now I'm enjoying getting used to it.
It's a little bit different from my last phone (K800i) but it all seems logical enough if you've had a Sony before. I actually ordered the silver one but they sent the black one by mistake - looks good tho & so I decided to stick with it.
I dont know how Orange works (I defected from Orange a few years ago, before they started the animal packages). The deal I've got on O2 through Carphone is 600 minutes & unlimited texts for £25 month. I dont think there's any danger of me going over my limits on that bundle.
Btw, if you pay for your bank account you might be able to include insurance for your phone that way. I'm with Barclays & I have all my small gadgets insured with them & pay £6.50 month for the account. It's one of the reasons I've kept my current account with them recently.
If you have any questions, just give me a yell. Will be happy to answer them.0 -

Cool its the silver one I want love anything silver!!
I dont' have a bank account that I pay for used to but wasn't worthwhile! I have insurance thru orange and are happy with their service had to use them twice and both times excellent service! I have emailed CPW detailing what i get at the moment to see what happens, I also get £5 discount from orange for loyalty so not sure if this will affect my deal or not. Orange is releasing the phone but not yet and only in red or black.....
Thanks for your help though!0 -

Hey moonflowers, can you tell me if the phone can stream youtube or play flash files over wifi?
I am having trouble with the W705 not being able to stream over wifi, even though it had pre-installed youtube application0 -
Well got a reply from Carphone Warehouse
"Thank you for your email.
I have looked into your account and we are not able to upgrade it for you at the Carphone Warehouse as this is an orange direct account.
I trust this is fully resolved for you. If there's anything else we can do to help you please reply to this email"
Why is this anyone know? Anyone know when it'll be out on Vodafone as I may change as although I love orange and save £5 a month, the reception seems to be gammy at my house

Potato - I've not sussed out all the features yet but it does say it can use wifi and Youtube is also mentioned. I need to look in to the advanced features now.
Christina - I dont understand that. You could just take out a new contract with Orange through CPW. If you're looking at changing providers I'd recommend O2. I've been with them a few years & have never looked back. No reception probs either, but you might just live in a blackspot tho.0 -

Hi Christina
I also want this phone as an Orange upgrade. I phoned today and they said I'd have to pay £127 one-off fee! I'm a Dolphin 35 person with 600 xnetwork minutes, unlimited texts, free broadband and 3 magic numbers.
I think £127 is awful. What did they quote you?
PS I just thanked you as I was going to start a similar thread! lol0 -

WHAT!!! I haven't phoned up yet, I'm on the same as you, my bills have been £50 a month for the last 4 years often up to £100 - £200 once!!!
If thats the case I'm considering leaving transfering my number to payg and then taking out a new deal with carphonewarehouse or phones 4 u they are offering what I'm on with the phone for free with for new customers
Phone and threaten to leave I will as soon as the phone is out0 -
Surprised! I just went onto the orange website to see what would happen if I tried to upgrade onto this phone online. I was expecting a charge for the handset but they applied a £50 discount so I would get the phone for free, and on the same plan I'm on now. Since it's the online version of the plan you actually get more minutes. My contract ends 26th June, don't know if it's specifically to do with that - but there was a bit on the site that said upgrading online gives you the same as new customers. Not sure whether to push it and phone retentions as well to try and wangle some data on. I'm not good with things like that though.
Forgot to mention - it was the Dolphin30 plan which is £24 odd a month for 400 mins and unlimited texts.
Just tried it on Dolphin25 plan and it works out free as well. 200 mins and unlimited txts for £20. I think the red version of the phone works out more expensive for whatever reason - presumably because it's an exclusive thing. My mum prefers the red one, but I like black better. Wouldn't pay extra just for the colour of it anyway.0 -

Edit - Phew I'm glad I tried retentions. Paid a one off £50 for the phone, but got 400 mins, unlimited texts and unlimited data for £14.63 (£14.6o something anyway) on 18 month contract with the black w995. Chuffed with that!0
