I used to have respect for the social services and all the work etc that they are doing, but I am rapidly looking the faith in them. This is the 3rd lot of different ones in the last 12 months and they are not any better from county to county as far as I can see.
Twin1 is here with me, and is trying to help with her Daughter. Its difficult watching her, and telling her what to do. It seems as if in the last 10 days she has forgotten how to do even the most simple tasks.! Help. When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
Oh dear ...............practice makes perfect?!
Hope you have had a more restful day

Well I am a little disappointed, but not surprised that the stairgate and stool didnt appear.
The SW is supposed to be letting me know the results of her refferal, but some how as it took her 10 days to actually fill in the form, I will not be holding my breathe.
Managed to borrow a travelgate. So at least I can put it across the kitchen door when I am cooking.
DS has finally got his moped back. Had to ring my Dad and ask him to lend him some money to put fuel in it. He still didnt come home last night, but is due to come home tonight, as I am cooking dinner for Biggest of Mooloo tonight. Its Wednesday.
Went to the Coffee Shop, in the village project yesterday, and there is a Mums and tots meeting there today between 10.30 and 12 I think it is. So I am going to take a wander down there this morning with DGD. Not sure on the cost of it, but we will manage.
Twin1 gave me £50 of her money, but it turns out that she too is in Overdraft. When I said about being in debt, she didnt see an overdraft as debt. She also had only £46 for a week to live on, and her bills are £31 a week. Apparantly she had a Crisis Loan when she moved into the flat, (dont know what for as I supplied everything including moving her???).and they took it out of her money this week. They assure her that in a fortnight her money will go back up to the £110afortnight. Mean while she will only have £26 to live on next week, if I have £50.
I had to buy Nappies, and the C)(p, only had huggies at £8.99, so I will have to travel further afield for more choice, and some cheaper prices, in home brands.
I sat sorting out the babyclothes that I have in the cupboards into age/sex/sizes, ready to provide them back to twin2 when the new baby is born. She is asking for stuff for the hospital. SHe is going to be sorely surprised that there is not that much here for that age? Wonder what they did with them then.>
Managed to sort out the cupboard under the stairs, to get to them, and the christmas decorations. If I have any energy I will be putting up the tree tonight.
DGD woke at 3am and didnt go back to sleep until nearly 4am.So I had a late night and then an interrupted one. Just as I thought we were getting into the swing of things.
I am still trying to construct my letter to the head of the department at SW, but my first draught was a bit erratic and emotional, instead, I am going to go back to basics with it and have it much more structured if I can. (DBF helped point this out.) Thank goodness I sent it to him to read, as I want to come across as intelligent, and accurate as well as practical and caring.
I will have another go at it tonight. Or later this afternoon. DGD allowing.
She is starting to get into the cupboards so I better go. Another thing I willneed, are catches onthe cupboards etc! (And a playpen? if I could squeeze it into the cottage!).When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
HTH with the letter. How about bullet pointing each fact or group of relevant facts, might help to make it an emotion free zone ?.................
....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)

Hope you get the letter sorted and so pleased Ds has his moped back
Poundland sell socket covers and door catches
I was under the impression that DSS can only take 10% of you income for loan repayments but that may have changed.
Hope the tots group is good you may get chance to buy some secondhand stuff for the new baby and DGD from the other mums

I think the DSS take into account the amount of Childtax credits she receives as well,as at the moment, the amount she is giving me is "voluntary" as technically she still has DGD. Until the assessment thing is sorted out anyway.
The playgroup, well Mums and Tots group was busy, loud! and DGD loved all the toys and all the children. It was £2 for the session with a cup of juice and a biscuit.
Felt very old in the room, luckily the lady that does the teas in the Coffee Stop, day was there so I didnt feel quite so lonely. It was an effort to start to talk to the mums, as they were all "yummy mummy" types and certainly in thier own little clicks. But I did strike up a conversation with a lady towards the end, who had a little baby, 4months old, and a two/three year old girl. (I held the baby for her when she went to the loo!). Next week is the Christmas party, so we went just in time. But boy was it tiring for me! Keeping DGD out of mischief, and up and down the slide and the rocking seat etc etc. !
They consenscious is to ask the lady that normally runs it, about Childminders etc in the area. So may get more luck next week.
Still nothing from theSW.Tried ringing her this morning, but she isnot in.
If I dont get a return callby 12,I shall ask for her superior this time.
Biggest of Mooloo's came to tea last night. Was just in time to put DGD to bed.
She is going to have DGD for the weekend. With a little help from her new chap and my DS. So I am lucky afterall, I will get to go to Oxford to see my chap. And get a bit of a rest!.
We have the Welfare Rights meeting tomorrow morning, so I am going to get Mum just after lunch and bring her back here for the rest of the day/ and she can stop tonight. (Told her more then asked her). Then we can go in together, and after it she can go back home to her flat. I know it means that she can get her weekend off and be able to go out,(if she has the funds, or afriend to help her?), but there is not a lot I can do about that.
Must go and get some housework done. Hope DGD will watch some Children's TV, while I do a few odds and sodds, like empty the bins, and bring in the wood.
DS was supposed to do it, but he was "too tired" after being at work all day!.
And he is just starting work, with what is is, another 50 years or so left to do!!When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
Mooloo my ds2 was very tired the first couple of weeks he started work too. Their body needs to adjust and come to think of it I remember being so shattered when I started work that I almost crawled up our front steps each evening and I was 15.0

It doesnt help that they stay up late on the computers/Xbox etc. But hopefully he will settle into it soon!.
Just received 4 free energy saving lightbulbs from my electric supplier! Yipee anything for free helps!.When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
My ds was working long hours,Illegally so as we found out. He left as soon as we found out they were not going to stick to the law. He was only 16 and too many accidents still happen to under 18s.
Your local council may also give away bulbs. Ours does sometimes.0 -
My ex husband used to work where DS is, and indeed did I when I was a young girl. The safety record there is,luckily quite good. DS is working 8am till 4.30pm, 5 days a week. So I think that that is about normal for a 16year old. Bit longer then school.
Been trying to get some help, via a Charity, I was pointed to, but so far, 5 phone numbers, and no further down
the line. Went in a literal circle and ended up with the exact same telephone operator,so he is going to get someone to get back to me.!
Circles are the story of my life!.
May ask the council about bulbs, but I need some screw in ones not bayonet!.When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0
