  • Sue that looks great ,i have often wondered how these collections for toys etc for deprived children are administered. I remember being a single mum and not being able to buy any presents at all for my son and wondering if they could have helped us.

Hope you get in touch with them mooloo sounds perfect for you. Hope you have had a peaceful stress free day and that BF made it over.

BF did come, late on Saturday evening, around 7.45 I think it was. We just watched TV and relaxed. Shared my last bottle of wine. But DGD woke at 5.30am so I brought her downstairs, and watched childrens tv. BF came down about 8.45am. We just had toast etc, before going into Northamptn, (In his car), and went around the poundshops. I bought 3 rolls of wrapping paper, ready for christmas, and a table runner, and a some chocolate coins for the grandchildren.
I would have liked to get some other things, but I am being as careful as I can with my money.
DS still didnt come home, and he missed his bus to work, and had to get his father to bail him out. I have spoken on the phone, and told him he is coming home today, and I am picking him up after work. So will be arranging my day so that we pass his place at 4.30.
I have told Twin1 that I am going over later this morning with DGD, and bringing her back here too. That way she can help care for DGD under my supervision,
I was exhausted by 7pm when DGD went to sleep last night. I was in bed before 9.30pm.
It was 6.45am when DGD woke, so we both got a reasonably good nights sleep.
(BF went home at 3pm yesterday).
I believe that the Social Worker has said that TWin1 has been put forward for some toys for DGD and a hamper. So thats something.
I shall see if the Vicars Fund is what they mean.?
Yes you did mention it to us last year, but I didnt have anyone to nominate us last year, and it is not a grant I can apply for.
Twin1 is due to give me £50 out of her money tomorrow. I am hoping that that will cover a lot of the extra costs we have for DGD. However I am not sure exactly what the extra electric is going to be yet.!.
DS is stillnot sorted out his money situation with his firm. Just rang asking for his bank details etc. to give to his new employers!. He is useless at times. At least I had the information to hand.!
I have spent quite a lot of time this morning, while DGD is playing with her toys and my colour pencils (on paper not the walls here)., talking to myself, and turning the situation into as much positive as I can.
I am going to remain calm. I am going to call our allocated SWorker today. I am going to ask her where we stand this week, and if there is a date for the assessment.
Then we will move on, and see what else can be done officially.

The cot doesnt belong to my Daughter. It is a furnished accommodation. So it belongs to Bromford Housing. The cot that DD had was given to her twin sister, as she had broken the cot she had for her son. The other travel cot is with her as her son still sees his other grandparents frequently.
I beleive that the assessment centre also is furnished.
The issue is that when we go and see mum DGD can no longer go to sleep in her room.

I shall work my way through all of the advise given here.I have started to, honestly. Its just difficult to do it all when I am still in the dark as to how long this situation is actually going to be going on.
Its all ifs and buts at the moment.
Now i better go, as DGD is dismantling the sofa cushions.

I shall ask the SW for an email address, and forward her the links to this charity and see if she will write to them, seeing as she is not able to give me funding, but I shall still be asking as it doesnt claim to be be able to give to all claimants.
Thanks again Sue, as I had forgotten about it since the last stressful time.!
Perhaps I ought to re read my old thread and see if I can follow someof the advise all over again!. If only I had the time and energy to read it.!

Mooloo - there should be a community furniture service near you, it would be worth getting in touch with them for the loan of a cot and also a stairgate and fireguard for your place.

Nearest centre is in Corby. Rang, but they dont have anything at the moment.
Social Fund application forms for a Community care grant, are in the post, but was advised that my area are only dealing with claims that came in 5th November at the moment, so may be 5 -6 weeks. Advised to get a budgeting loan, as there claims are only on 27th November. However i will have to pay that back out of my meagre benefits, which will make me worse off then ever later on!.

Both forms are now in the postal system to me, as for somereason my computer will not let me download off of the government website!. (Some girls get all the luck!!).

Message to speak to the social worker still hasnt given me a return call.
Spoken to the worker with twin1, she hadnt been able to get hold of her on the phone (they are in the same building!!). They are due to be meeting at the moment.
So I have managed to get DGD down for a nap, while I did allthese phonecalls etc.
Time to go on Freecycle again and see if anyone had a clearout over the weekend!.

    .

Mooloo, that SW should be pursuing all this for you - don't forget to log your telephone calls onto your list of expenses (including all the ones that she doesn't return!) for repayment.

Have you thought of trying higher up the pecking order, i.e. the Senior SW? then Head of Children's Services? I understand you don't want to be perceived as a nuisance, but sometimes those higher up can get things to happen that a lowly SW cannot be bothered to follow up or even to ask about.

And maybe you could put a "Wanted" onto Freecycle? Or ask at the village coffee morning tomorrow if you could put a notice up? Ooh, just thought, do they have a Mums & Tots group at the hall?

    Take care,

    Floss xx

Just had a reply from the social worker, who is still trying to fill in the referral form and needed my details and the family network! Should have had that ages ago.
Anyway she has said that she will try and get a stairgate and step to Twin1's place tomorrow.! out here is too far to reach apparantly!.
Tried the website that tells you about grants etc, and she said that possibly the Licensing one could help,(that was suggested 2 years ago I think). but it would take at least 8 to 10 weeks to get sorted. My best bet is to get a crisis loan and pay it back out of my benefits. (I dont want to do that as I will have even less then the £89. aweek to live on!
Out here I need a car as the nearest shops etc are 8 miles away!.

DGDhas woken so its time to go and see her Mum.

Re. the SW - it sounds like you need to speak to their manager about matters being dealt with in a timely fashion and also BIG query about DGD being removed from her mum by SW and SS legal responsibilities.

    :mad::confused::mad::confused::mad:

If it wasn't too far to bring your DGD to dump her on you in a crisis, it shouldn't be too far to bring what she needs to get her through that crisis with you. IMO.
