Mooloo the only reason I knew about that site, was because I am a member of an american scrapbooking site and a lot of people on there love Vera Bradley-they are always posting about whichever bag etc they've just bought,or they found one at the 'goodwill' or whatever! If you are going to make nappies, how about the nappy changing bags that open out with the wipeable plastic inside? I had a really pretty one of those with all 3 of my pregnancies and loved them as they are so handy when out and about. And..I know this is a stretch!- but I have a stoma since having my operation for cancer in May. Lots of ostomists buy covers for their bags. Someone on ebay (but only 1 I know of) is already making them and they sell pretty well-children in particular love to have a selection of covers. Some people even buy waterproof ones to cover their bag in the shower! If you needed a selection of bags to use as patterns I have about 10 different size/makes here I could send you (although you may not want to get into that market lol!)
GP's are increasingly refusing to give prescriptins for this sort of thing so that more and more people are having to buy them.

by the way-I would happily plug your site on my ileostomy forum if you decide to make them!Tomorrow is always fresh, with no mistakes in it!0 -
Hi Mooloo
Sorry I haven't had time to check my stash yet, I've been at work even though I wasn't supposed to be in til Tuesday, I'll try to have a hunt tomorrow, I know I have a load of press studs, but not sure what else. I'll send anything I think you may find useful. The bag looks fantastic.
Hugs Hester

Hello everyone, back from my weekend in Oxford. More and more it seems that I am going to Oxford at the weekend. BF came over on Friday evening, and then we went back to Oxford mid aftenoon on Saturday. I did try to get on line with my dads Dongle, but although I have used it before, it just didnt work.
Only managed to get on to the computer very quickly this morning to check the finances.
I took the spare sewing machine with me, and a box of bits and bobs, with thanks to Mini Laura for some of them! They arrived on Saturday morning before we left.
I made/ well finished 3 pairs of childrens shorts, that I had cut out for years!, and made another handbag. In black. Smaller then the other one, but aiming for an evening bag.
I didnt have the space to cut out anythingelse, or I probably would have.
I made Apple and ginger jam before we left and while in Oxford I made a couple of huge bowls of Stewed fruit, and some apple crumbles from them for BF and his family.
When we came back today, BF helped me to clear the windfalls, and some of the garden. He is going to go to work tomorrow from here.
Twin2 was on the phone at 7am! wanting me to go and collect her BF from town. I didnt have the car, I was in Oxford and I basically told her no.!
Then she was back on the phone this evening, complaining that biggest of Mooloo had brought her BF home, but twin1 had then got him to babysit, and she didnt want him to as she hadnt seen him for 5 days.! I said what on earth an I supposed to do about that???
Tomorrow Biggest of Mooloo's has the day off work, her BF broke it off again on Saturday morning, so she is going to come over and help me to move the two rooms around!.
Busy day tomorrow then. Doctors at 8am. Coffee shop at 10.30.
Think they start the lunch club tomorrow, but am not sure I will be able to do that one!
To answer everyone, I will be looking into the links etc and get back to people.
Hester, dont worry about rushing. It is good of you to even think about helping me out.
I am hoping that once the two rooms are swapped I will be able to sort things out to really makesure I sew at least 4 days a week!. So that I can make enough to sell. I really need to raise about £500 asap to pay for the timeshare maintenance. (Well I need about £850 in total, but I have £366 if the CSA payments are right).
SuziQ, I shall look into the covers, as I am not worried what I make as long as its wanted, and I am able to make a little bit of money to up my income!. I also was thinking of the changing mats and have a pattern or two from way back when!. So I will dig them out.
Just need to get to Mr T and see if they still have the value Shower curtains. Then I can make quite a few things that are lined/waterproofed.
Take care all, catch up with you soon. When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
Hi Mooloo, just thinking about the timeshare. Can you not sell it or trade it? I know i've seen web sites around for that sort of thing. It seems such a shame to work so hard to pay the maintenance on something that isn't going to give you the pleasure.0

Hi Iv been thinking of more things that might sell well. Adult waterproof bibs, clothing for disabled people, ones Iv looked at are really expensive.Dolls clothing ie barbie, dog coats.dog bed cushions, . Waterproof seat pads[could have done with with them after giving birth lol....0

Thanks for all the information and suggestions. Think I will have to make some prototypes and see which I find easiest to source and make. If I settle to make certain things it will no longer be something made from other things.! But hey I need to earn something.
Got to go, doctors appointment at 8am. BAck later. xWhen I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -

I have heard of some companies that will sell things on. Problem with it is I need to get ex ex husband to sign over his share officially. Although I bought him out, it was never done officially, so without his signature, I cant do anything. (Infront of a notary? what ever one of them is). So that will be too late for this year.
Funnily enough they telephoned me from Portugal today, to discuss my problem, after I had emailed them.
They suggested I put an advert on a notice board in a golf club, asking for £500 for the week, four people, (one would need to be a couple of very friendly as its a double bed), he thinks I will get someone snap it up as its near to the golf courses in Vilamoura, and thats the prime time for Golf out there!. So I will have to ask BF if he can put a notice at his old club. Dont think I know anyone in a golf club this end of my life!. Its worth a try, for this year, but if not for his year, it would be possible for another year, while I work out whats best to do. Then the economy might have changed too.
Or I can take the deeds and just give it up.! But I think that they will also want ex ex's signature, and that could be a big problem 15 years on!.When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -

Hi Lolababy, I will look into some of these things, however I really wanted to be making things out of recycling. So I would need to think on how I could do these things. Or I will have to change my view point on things. But thanks for the ideas, they are all good ones, that I had never thought about.:TWhen I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
I havebought a shower curtain from Mr T, and will use that to try the makeup bags, and the new nappies etc.
Will let you all know when I get on to it. But at the moment I will not be sewing tonight.
Have my car back, and my arm knows it!
Got a new magazine also found in Mr T, called "SEW" never seen it before, so I am going to bury my head into the sands so to speak. (Well into its pages).
Made 3 cushioncovers out of the fabric samples picked up from a shop in Towcester, and Biggest of Mooloo has taken them for her flat. The rest of the fabric, 30 odd pieces in one book nd abou 32 in another will be turned into different things, bags, makeup bags, pencil cases that sort of thing, while I practise things to make. See what my repertuour will end up being.
