Well I came back on, as I am bored!
Cannot believe that. I am so bored. Kids are in hiding in thier rooms, wonder if its becuase I am here?
I have come back on to the computer and have been trawling for ideas for the etsy site. I have decided that I will have to make masses of things to even get a look in. If its not added to on a daily basis I may as well forget people looking at it.
So back to the drawing board and start to make a lot of things, to get a wider net cast.
Problem is I really am in the making mood, but I dont have anything here at BF's to make!!
So I have to wait until tomorrow.!!! Then I will be playing catchup all week.!

  • Hi Mooloo,
I'm a very long time lurker... I've got 3 (well I think it's 3) cushion covers that I'm not doing anything with (they've been in a cupboard for nearly 10 years "just in case I need them for something") - I'd be more than happy to donate them to your "fabric stash" if you don't mind pming me an address? At least you'll be able to make something useful out of them (unlike me lol)

Just a thought, but while you are away and need things to do can you see if there is any material/garments around you can 'harvest' and perhaps do some cutting out or planning with? Obviously with owners permission. Or even design a pattern from someone's hand bag .... you need to keep a tape measure and scissors in your handbag, just in case of inspiration.

I like that Idea, Harvesting while at BF's. Funnily enough I brought back half a bag of clothing, (mine) that had been in the drawers at BF's for over a year since last worn. Being a size 12 now, due to the weight gain being on Gabapentin, and less active, I don't think Iwill be a size 8 again!!

BF also gave me a small plastic tool box that was doing nothing, and I plan to kit it out with the basics, pin, scissors, threads, and other odds and sodds. so I can sew by hand at least when I am at his. I always have a tapemeasure in my handbag anyway, as I have done since I was 9 years old!! When I used to make clothes for friends at school. 39 years - Even over the nearly 10 years that I havent sewn I still had a tape measure. Buying clothes in a charity shop, its often a good idea to measure things, incase they have had labels cut out or shrunk in thier previous lives!:D

    Hello, Lolababy,
That would be a marvelous idea. It would be wonderful to have a stock of things to be able to create with. Rather then having to trawl the charity shops and look for things that I can afford to buy, and tie my meagre funds up in.
I have had a couple of offers of things that can be recycled, and I am extremely grateful to all the offers, the help and the encouragement from everyone that has been following me.

Have you thought about pet clothing? Huge market out there for that plus dog/cat beds, bandanas etc. You can often buy rolls of fabric on ebay very cheaply. I bought some faux fur to make throws (lined with fleece) for the sofas and beds and saved a fortune on shop bought ones! ;)

    Hi Chameleon,
I hadnt thought of pet clothing, but funnily enough, I have received my KwikSew patterns book, and there are loads and loads of pet accessories, and the like in them.!
When I have made a few other things, with what I have, and hopefully sold some, I will have a little funds to send off for the patterns to expand the things that I can make.
I havent got to the machine yet today.
It was too late to do anything last night when I got back, exept eat!.
This morning I was on here a bit longer then I meant to be then went early to the coffee morning, as I wantd to get back for the Connextions person.
They have said that I can get a run on on the child benefit, so I have been on to the phone to the childbenefit. Now have to put the request in writing. Although not everyone qualifies apparantly.
If i get that, it runs on for 20 weeks. Thats £400 I would not have if DS had not signed up with connextions.
This will then lead to a run on on Tax credits for DS, another £800 over the time.
This also means that EX should also still be paying Child Maintenance for DS, which, if he does, (and they dont reclaim it,) that will also be another £800.
Thats a lot of money that I was about to loose, and will now not loose until January. This gives me time to get on and see if I can make a living out of sewing.
Now the Child Benefit just have to grant it, and then the others will follow!!:T

  • Fingers and toes crossed for the Child Benefit...

Just been to the post office, package on it's way to you :)
