Luckily all the staff who have asked for ID have been really polite about it, although I'm paying with a credit card, clearly have a car and a 3 year old! non of those things are proof that I'm over a certain age - but they're pretty good indicators!
all the times that it has happened, I've bought my shopping, loaded it into the car, gone back into the shop, got my alcohol and paid for it at a different till.
It's a pain in the posterior, but I'd rather that I was inconvenience slightly than the rules being slackened and say my daughter was able to buy booze when she's a teenager.things arent the way they were before, you wouldnt even recognise me anymore- not that you knew me back thenMercilessKiller wrote: »BH is my best mate too, its ok

littlemissfrugal wrote: »Well someone who works for Tesco has now read this - so to recap
you had a problem with ONE member of staff who could have handled to situation better and because of that ALL Tesco workers are retards
and because a manager didn't feel it necessary to attend to one of you issues and trusted a supervisor to handle it and get rid of you
the stores are too crowded with animals??? to give you a pleasant shopping experience
I can only agree that you must vote with your feet because your attitude stinks and I am sure the staff at the store concerned would be more than happy were you never to darken their door again - I will not mention the Think 25 training that was recently done at all stores which has made some staff nervous to serve alcohol full stop - as you already know of these intiatives having trained retards yourself.
Please excuse any spelling mistakes or grammatical errors after all I do work for Tesco
the security staff that are employed there are terrible, the number of times they dont open the little barrier things and people are stood there trying to get in or walk into them isnt even funny.
the manager in question clearly stated that the supervisor did whatever it took to 'get rid of me cos he couldnt be bothered coming to the front of the store' we had managers like that where i used to work, and tbh they are always off with customers on the rare occasions they do speak to them.
i dont like tesco i will hold my hands up and say it, i am normally one of the more pleasant ones, i *shock* talk to the till staff rather than walking round with a frown almost tripping me up like most of the customers, same way they do in asda, morrisons etc.
it is the policy i disagree with, we had a similar thing when i worked at asda, and yes it was an issue and yes soon afterwards i got a job elsewhere and left, and no the staff i trained were not retards, some were a little set in their ways (ok more than a little :rotfl:) but if i go there now and get id'd it is usually met with the person on the next till (someone i have usually known a good 10 years) laughing their head off cos they know how old i am.
i'm not a rude or agressive person, i just got p'd off cos of how the store handled the situation, as anyone would bethings arent the way they were before, you wouldnt even recognise me anymore- not that you knew me back thenMercilessKiller wrote: »BH is my best mate too, its ok

The point is if the cashier gets it wrong JUST ONCE they could loose their job, get fined and a criminal record!! So if you get asked just be HAPPY about it!! Sorry I really cant understand why she is a RETARD for doing exactly what she's paid to do. I dont work at TESCO but I do shop there and the majority of the staff are lovely, apart from one grumpy trolley collector. I do however work in retail and I have to say that you get some people who, when challenged about their agr, become really rude and insulting....... poor cashiers are not paid enough fo that0

I'll go and buy it for you BH, my days of being asked for ID are long gone :rotfl:
But you'd better not come with me, because apparently there are now problems when purchasing alcohol when you're accompanied by a minor, in case you're buying for them ....
How long before they refuse to sell me alcohol (for Marley) because I'm pregnant and might drink it myself?:heartpuls Mrs Marleyboy :heartpuls

Having worked in a supermarket myself, I know how hard it is to tell how old someone is. People don't understand that if we get it wrong, we get a fine and possibly a criminal record, as well as losing our job. We get a few seconds to decide whether or not to ask for ID. You might think you look your age but to someone who has only just met you, it may be hard to tell. I used to hate customers like you - I didn't take any pleasure from asking for ID (hated it in fact). You act like they're just doing it to spite you!0

erm.....can someone read back please I WORKED IN A SUPERMARKET FOR SEVEN YEARS AND I WAS A CHECKOUT TEAM TRAINER
the reason the one time i was not a happy customer was because in front of a large queue of people my transaction was held up about 3 times by someone who could clearly see i was well over the legal drinking age for this country which is 18
she stated herself i look about 25, which surely if common sense prevailed would be enough to say 'no risk of him being under 18' which the policy is there to protect from and as i have stated i trained staff to execute the policy with politeness and discretion, neither of these things were demonstrated by this staff member. i was the one that rather than leave my remaining shopping there to defrost and mess the system up (i know how difficult voided transactions are on self scan machines) i paid and then was met with more confrontation when trying to go about my business, the same business the store staff advised me would not be a problem.
the policy is there and i repeat to stop someone purchasing something when they are under 18, the test purchasers are typically 14-17 for alcohol and typically 12-15 for tobacco/lottery.
can i please ask that you read back my posts on this thread and see owing to my previous employment i know what i am talking aboutthings arent the way they were before, you wouldnt even recognise me anymore- not that you knew me back thenMercilessKiller wrote: »BH is my best mate too, its ok
