tesco- rude and abusive staff and not the first time

Options
i have had it with tesco now

apparently if you like me are 28 years old you have to take i.d to buy alcohol- !!!!!!?

21 sure but 28? i dont look like an underage drinker, infact i look like i could father half the underage drinkers (and round here that wouldnt be out of place) and then when the self scan till messed up they left it messed up so i couldnt pay for the rest of the stuff

thats it, those retards have had it with me, their stores are crowded animal pits, 95% of their staff (i know the other 5% at my local store) have the brainpower of the a normal person's toenail and i am sure customer service is swearing to them (managers are either worse than the staff or cant be bothered being visible- once i had a complaint about something that went on and the manager refused to see me and told the checkout supervisor to give me whatever i wanted to get rid of me )

my days as a tesco customer are over well and truly- and i hope someone at tesco reads this
things arent the way they were before, you wouldnt even recognise me anymore- not that you knew me back then ;)
BH is my best mate too, its ok :)

I trust BH even if he's from Manchester.. ;)

I'd have said more is true of Sainsbury's stores.

They certainly are full of idiots. Customers and staff.

Don't get me wrong. There will be a few excellent people in every store, but they get lost with all the ones that are useless and don't give a damn about anything.

    Nice.

Not only have you !!!!ed-off 95% of Tesco workers reading this, you haven't given any specifics, and you use offensive words such as "retards".

You should be grateful that you obviously look young for your age and try and not alienate your audience.
i know some of the staff and they are very nice people, some of the ones i know are total idiots i will be honest.

i am 28 years old and was humiliated by an ageist self scan till worker (i used to train staff on them for a rival store) and once she had removed the alcohol from my shopping (and made a scene doing so) this then messed the till up (which would be visible on her terminal) she then held the queue up just standing around doing nothing and preventing me from paying or letting anyone else use the terminal and someone else had already started putting their stuff on the first bit.

i used to work in a supermarket and staff like this wouldnt have lasted the first week

In what way was the till worker ageist? How were you humiliated? You don't make it clear in your first post.

I can understand your frustration at not being able to get your shopping done in the shortest amonut of time, but it's quite common to ID anyone who looks under 35, so I can't really see how that would be a problem. The rest of your post seems to be about the conditions in Tesco in general, so I reckon voting with your feet is the only option if you are that upset by the staff and other customers.

I would be delighted if they sked my age!
  • I think this new law(?) that all staff have to ask id's for under 25's is going
to start causing alot of problems. The staff in the shops have to judge
who is under 25 and who is not, so on the safe side they ask people
there unsure about. Therfore causing this rant which i find personally
    out of order.

it being quite common doesnt make it right.

ageist in that anyone young took ages to be seen to and anyone old like her had their machines sorted straight away, she made a big scene of the fact despite being 28 and the only things i had on me were my bank card (a visa debit card which no bank will issue to under 18's) and car keys (for the car i drove there in) and the fact that she clearly stated i looked in my mid 20s but not over 25 (sorry but legal drinking age in this country is 18)

i was told there would be no problem trying to buy alcohol if someone there knew i was how old i said i was (i know a few of the staff) and when i got there she had called security to prevent me from purchasing.

i should have got her name and phoned into the store manager to lodge an official complaint really but voting with my feet is next best thing i suppose

asda were doing it 3 years ago, i trained their staff in it, they were taught back then that discretion and politeness were the key, but how much has filtered down since i went working elsewhere god only knows

as far as i know the law is the same, retailers have tightened up but this is ott
