£89 to get one repaired is expensive considering you could almost replace the product for that cost.
its the same with any machanical product, you always get one that needs looking at time n time again and never fixed, happpens with cars also.
Ive used cda on a few of my kitchens for customers ranging from 1-3.5yrs old and no probs with there products

Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker
I would probably avoid too, baring in mind that I only sell one CDA appliance (a wine cooler) and it seems to give us more problems than any other that we sell!
  • I would avoid CDA, I have a few friends with their products and the look cheap and don't last. They can also be quite expensive. What I do is go to the big stores where I can see things in person, and then google the model that I want to find it cheaper... two websites i've used for my new house are:
    appliancesonline.co.uk
kitchenscience.co.uk (these guys give you a discount the more you buy)

I bought a samsung fridge from John Lewis (which is awesome) But JL really disappointed me, they were last with delivery, and when I bought something from appliancesonline, I got it the next day! (and they were cheaper than JL)

I had a chance to get the CDA stuff at wholesale price, and even then I wouldn't bother!
  • We have a problem with our built in oven, where the enamel has debonded its self, and has started to chip off in quite a large area, the oven is approx.14 months old, just out of 12 warranty for parts and labour.
Have been in touch with customer services and supplied them with photographic evidence as requested. There technical response is that I have placed something in the bottom of the oven activate the element
causing the problem therefore it is not a manufacturing fault, the latter I strongly contest, and is certainly not a case of he protesteth too much .
My last e mail was marked F.A.O. the M.D. but I received a reply allegedly on his behalf from someone lower down the hill where the crap rolls, stating the self same reply as above but now seems to have developed another fault of deep scratches. As you will appreciate I am not a happy user, being pensioners this is certainly not our first fan assisted oven, and also going to cost an estimated 3 weeks pension to replace same.I have not yet given up hope of contacting the M.D personally, as it appears someone is steering the ship, but there is no captain on board. I will keep you posted.
To sum up all my rantings buyer beware, I am not sure if the appliance is fit for purpose, and after reading the terms and conditions of the guarantee it not worth the paper its written on. Hopefully when I replace the oven someone will pick it up, and dump it where belongs at the. scrapyard .I would certainly not recommend buying a CDA oven anyone.

CDA carry a 5yr guarentee on parts 2 yrs labour and have done for a few years, not sure how you have fallen outside of that with 14mnths?
You should speak to the people you purchsed the oven off if they only gave you 12mnths
  • Having read evokits reply, I registered my appliance online approx. July/August 2011., the kitchen and all appliances were fitted to all the relevant legislation at that time.
My registration document does not give me 2 years parts/ labour
only 12 months, unless I wanted to purchase extra cover!
It does have an extended 5 year guarantee, subject to strict conditions.
Any parts supplied and fitted are at CDAs discretion, and must be fitted by one of their engineers as discussed elsewhere.
CDA have said the oven has been misused, and I have no way of proving that this is not the case.
Just as a matter of interest I e mailed the M.D. personally, as yet I have not had a reply. I will keep you all posted.
  • CDA should mean Complete Disaster Awaits. As with another customer I unfortunately have a kitchen full of this inferior stuff. To keep it short, engineer out twice within one year for fridge. Still not right and gave up. Alarm light still flashing and freezes food atthe bottom. Mesh on taps failed. Dishwasher tablet holder melted and had to be replaced. Now been told that parts for dishwasher is two more weeks( had to wait two weeks for first visit). Oh and had the privilege of paying them 89.50 for them NOT to fix it. Fortunately got that back. I think they did that to get rid of me. And the five year guarantee actually means you have four years to BUY anything else of them at a rubbish discount. Customer services don't know the answer to anything. Avoid at any cost or if you hobby is burning money and like being off work waiting for engineers by all means fill your boots.

Really glad I found this thread. Was about to replace my diplomat with a cda as its just stopped working.

Any ideas what brand to buy that has a better reputation. Sub £350 for a electric single oven.
  • Bought a CDA propane insert oven and had it shipped to france where we can't get them. The thermocouple on the grill was faulty and so the grill shuts itself off. Needless to say their guarantee doesn't work here. Their so called customer service dept take an age to reply to anything and have to reminded about everything. H:mad:owever they won't even replace the faulty part if I return it and want £39 to post a 1 ounce little part to get their untested faulty cooker going. What a bunch of bandits.
  • Hi everyone

CDA has asked to provide a response. MSE doesn't endorse anything a company says on the forum.

CDA was established over 20 years ago and has the highest first time fix rate in our industry. We also have one of the highest reliability rates (currently 97%), placing our failure rate at half that of the market leader. I always welcome any comments or criticisms anyone may have of CDA and our products as this genuinely helps us to keep improving.

Reading some of these comments I can see that we seem to have failed a number of people, and in some cases quite badly. For this I apologise. As everyone will know even the most reliable brands (Toyota, Apple, etc) have product failures and component issues, and even poor practices, that result in people being let down. That is not an excuse, merely a call for perspective. We sell over quarter of a million appliances every year and almost all of these work perfectly well.

To anyone who has experienced poor service I do regret this and if I can intervene I do so. Our call centre is based here in Langar and the main reason we do our own service and don't outsource, (as most of our competitors do) is to get instant feedback to our quality and technical managers. However we are only human and mistakes will get made; but I can assure anyone considering a CDA product that our integrity is absolute and we will always try and rectify any issues fully.

I also notice a lot of comments are quite old (most seem to be around 2004 or 2009). We moved premises in 2004 and we had a catastrophic IT failure in early 2009. Both did result in poor service levels temporarily. Plus I notice a few comments about our call centre opening hours, particularly Saturdays and after 5pm. We have since responded by opening later and on Saturdays.

And finally we have recently launched a number of customer satisfaction survey systems to actively respond to what our customers think. Overall satisfaction of CDA service is currently around 90%, The final 10% tends to be deliveries and installation which is often outside of our control. Nevertheless we are working on new training procedures for the network of retailers selling CDA and their installers.

I hope this is helpful and reassuring to all of the people who own a CDA appliance, and also to those considering buying one. For more information or to contact us directly please visit our website https://www.cda.eu.
