I was in a large retailer Norfolk based and they said they get more returns from bosch than CDA.
why are people not using soga and dealing with the retailers?0 -
gas hobs - not much point paying through your nose for them. British gas safety standards dictate a pretty high minimum standard of craftsmenship. Basically if they're crap - they're a safety problem. There are no fancy gizmos with them - they're just gas burners.
So there's very little to go wrong in a hob.
Extractors - not so stringent, fans can be noisy, extraction rate could be poor and fan can get clogged by grease and break down.
Oven, can vary a lot because getting even heat in the oven and consistent heat is an issue.0 -
I had my kitchen refitted last September (2013) and the installer recommended CDA.
I wish I had read this site at that time as if I had, I would not have had a CDA appliance past my front door.
I had 3 appliances fitted. A stainless steel overhead extractor; a stainless steel hob & a single gas oven - all built in.
The stainless steel extractor went rusty in the first 3 months and CDA replaced. They declined to pay fitting costs though but my installer did the "swop over".
The hob has also gone rusty and we have been waiting since 12/9 for a new hob top to come in. We have to keep chasing CDA "Customer Service" (a joke of a name) as they will not call us.
The oven is the worst however. It was very difficult to light, taking an average of 5 times to light and cutting out when used at high temperatures.
After several engineer visits CDA finally agreed to replace it on 4/8. however, they would not pay the cost of having it swopped over (like the extractor above). The installer also declined to pay and could not do it himself as he is not gas safe registered. It was only when I threatened legal action that he arranged for a gas safe engineer to do the "swop". The engineer told me he was being paid by the local CDA wholesaler - not my installer.
However the new oven is not much better than the first one - it still takes numberous attempts before it will light.
We have found that if we remove the bottom (inside) cover that fits over the burner the oven will light first time - but with the cover on it takes up to 10 attempts before it will light. This is not satisfactory and is dangerous as it means putting our hands near to the flame!
When the engineer last came (26/9) we registered our dis-satisfaction - he told us that we would get a call to discuss it - we are still waiting.
In a nutshell - only buy a CDA appliance if you want to spend hours on the phone and enjoy waiting in for their engineer. Otherwise look elsewhere...0 -
Bought an American style fridge freezer and dishwasher July 2013 upon recommendation from the kitchen company. What a mistake! On the first day of use it spat screws and nuts into my sons drinking glass (which he hadn't found until at the end of his drink and could have choked and he also has severe autism and may not have been able to communicate this properly!) Found the ice crusher to be broken and eventually got through to customer services who sent out an engineer which took quite some time. He "fixed" the ice crusher by shoving it back into place and upon telling him about the loose screws he seemed to have no concern whatsoever. Anyway, the ice crusher broke again and again I reported this. Customer Service stated that the whole ice machine unit would need replacing and would be sent to the engineer who would then contact me. After three despairing months later I had to contact them again as no contact from the engineer. He eventually came out and ordered the unit. Another 2 weeks later it arrived, 1 week after this the engineer arrived and could not fix the problem still. Back on the phone again! Another 2 parts ordered after engineers report put in! 2 weeks later, parts turn up. 2 weeks later, engineer turns up and still cannot fix it!! I am now still waiting for them to contact me as the engineer said that he cannot fix it and has changed every part in the freezer! Have been on hold again for 10 minutes today and have given up until tomorrow! Not happy at all!
Dishwasher leaks out of the side but I dare not start on this one yet!!!
Definitely would not recommend this company at all!:mad:0 -
Oh dear. 3 weeks ago I purchased a CDA gas hob and a CDA double oven and had it fitted by the people who fitted the kitchen. 3 days ago I boiled something over on the hob and ended up with a drawer full of water underneath! The kitchen installer didn't believe me! I then put a torch in the drawer underneath the hob and turned the lights out. 4 of the 5 rings had light seeping through indicating ineffective seals. Today my kitchen installer contacted CDA and have organised for a CDA engineer to call on Friday 19th to assess the problem - and there will be no call out charge. Watch this space and we'll see if CDA can improve on their customer service. Whilst writing this, my Husband has just brought in the glass cover from one of the bulbs in one of the oven. It looks like it has sheared off! We're waiting for the oven to cool down so that we can investigate further!0

Bought a CDA oven just over a year ago. Thermostat gave in on it after a few months upon phoning customer services at CDA I was told it would be nearly a fortnight before an engineer could be sent. Thankfully the company that I bought it from came to my rescue and replaced the oven for another CDA one. Now a few months later on the 27 December the replacement oven has problems for the clock won't set and the oven won't work unless the clock is set. Upon phoning CDA today they advise me that an engineer cannot call until 5 January 2015.This is an appalling service how can they expect that anyone can cope without an oven for 10 days. I will be requesting my money back for this oven and will never purchase CDA appliances again.0

Crikey, I've just ordered a kitchen that has been specced with a CDA cooker hood because the shop didn't sell the one we wanted. Glad I read this - I'm going to cancel the hood and just buy the one we wanted separately.0

We bought a cda cooker 2 years ago, its so rubbish I am surprised they can actually get away with selling them.
It takes ages to light and because the flame is positioned at the bottom of the oven it burns everything underneath, we have to put a grill pan on the bottom rack to stop some of the heat [this was the repair mans idear the first time he came out] which of course means you can't use half the oven so we only have 2 shelves quite close together to cook on.
I was going to scrap it but have decided to keep calling them out just to be a general pain. I tend to use the slow cooker and the wok quite a lot but the times I do use it its a complete pain. I would never buy anything of theirs again.0 -
Please do not buy any appliances from CDA, they have the worst Customer Service, infact the Customer Service is non existant. We had a new kitchen installed in November 2013 and all appliances from CDA, so far we have replaced the dishwasher, had the warming drawer repaired and replaced our fridge freezer. I have taken numerous days off work waiting in for non existant repair men, taken 3 days off work while waiting for collection companies sent by CDA to collect my useless goods etc etc. I could go on and on and fill the page with the details of this debacle but suffice to say DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY IF YOU WANT TO RETAIN YOUR SANITY, please buy goods from a decent company that care about their customers0
