First of all please make sure you read this web site

I also got a book today at first, i thought i had won a prize, But noooo it was a book I hade never requested from 'Mango' after reading all the reply's on this thread, I sent this email (see below). So thankyou everyone for their advice and thank youuuuu MANGO for my nice new FREE book.:T:T
Hi,
Membership # *********
I've just received a book and a box of junk mail from you.
I did not request this book and have at no time registered or entered
into any contract with your company. (so do not say I have, or that anyone else may have on my behalf/with ut my consent. I have heard every line of bull!!!! you can come up with).
I will class any more letters demanding money you are NOT owed as bulling and harassment.
I would be pleased if you could inform me how you came to have my
address on your system. Please do not insult me by saying "I must have clicked on a pop up" I have a very good pop up blocker that doesn't let any through. Also you could not have got my name and address by just clicking on a 'pop up'.
I gather I'm not the only person who has had these problem with you.
I insist that you remove all my information from your database and cancel my membership immediately (and
any backups).
"Under the Unsolicited Goods and Services Act 1971, (as amended) it is an offence to demand payment for goods known to be unsolicited, in other words, they were sent to a person without any prior request made by them or on their behalf.
Someone who receives goods in these circumstances may retain them as an unconditional gift, and does not have to pay for or return any unwanted goods. Anyone who receives a demand for payment for unsolicited goods should report the matter to their local Trading Standards Department."
The above statement was taken from the dti website.
IF YOU OR YOUR ASSOCIATES EVER CONTACT ME AGAIN WITH ANYTHING OTHER THAN AN ABJECT APOLOGY, THEN I WILL TAKE LEGAL ACTION AGAINST YOU.
Thanks
Mrs Thomas

has everyone else noticed every e-mail they send has "I hope that carifys things for you" at the bottom, when the contents does the exact opposite - they're so bad i find it really funny!Don’t ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive, and go do it.
Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.0 -
Got a reply from them, saying
"Our introductory parcels are only sent when we receive a specific request for them. An application for membership was received bearing your address, but apparently without your permission. Please would you return them with the free pre paid label being sent to you in the post."
First of all I signed the email Mrs Thomas, and the email they sent was addressed Sir/Madam.
And I stated in the email as Under the Unsolicited Goods and Services Act 1971 I was aloud to keep the book as a "as an unconditional gift" they still asked for me to return the book.
Anyone that receives a book from them just send them a email saying "you did'nt ask for the book, your keeping it anyway and you want your account closing":j Nuts about christmas since 1981:j

Hello again,
After my first post (over 3 months ago) And after attempting to get through the automated c**p which is the 'customer service line' I gave up and forgot about it, leaving the box, book and all junkmail untouched. It is today three months later I recieved a final demand and a bill for £14.99 which is the full price of the book, not only that but a threat to refer me to a debt collection agency!
Any way i noted in the small print a number that I hadnt rang before and eventually got through to a gentleman who didnt speak very good english, I basically told him I was ringing to Refuse to make payment and to dispute ever opening this account and could he please remove my details as I don't appreciate threatening letters. He responded 'no problem miss ****** We will delete your account today and I will fill in the relevent forms.
That seemed way too easy and I want to know if there is a 'blip' on my credit file now, and if so how the hell did they get the rights to do searches and add details onto my file??
For anyone who is interested the number I rang was 0870 165 0276 press 0, enter your membership number and press 0 to speak to agent.0 -
I recieved a parcel from them this morning with a book I didn't want and a bill for 99p, so I found this thread on google. Someone in this thread mentioned Mutual Points, I signed up with them a few week ago so I'm going to assume it's their fault.0

Thank heavens for this thread.
My daughter received an unsolicited book from mango Book club, she sent emails requesting info on when and how she allegedly joined this club and phoned them ( I pay the phone bill needless to say), got the run around and she is worried sick as she is a student and poor, and doesn't have time to read these sorts of books anyway.
Armed with all the info on this thread, I will be emailing them and hopefully that will be an end to it.
Many Thanks again to you allIn giving

Thank You to viccig for the telephone number to call regarding this farce.
I have literally in the past hour taken delivery of one of 'their' books. The man left it by the front door and I saw him getting back into his car with no intention of waiting for me to accept or refuse the box.
I am not in a position to order books in this manner both from a financial point of view but also because I read so slowly and then it's books which have been given to me by mum or sister.
Anyway I called the number For anyone who is interested the number I rang was 0870 165 0276 press 0, enter your membership number and press 0 to speak to agent. and got through to an agent. I explained the book had been delivered without my say so and that I understood several people had had the same problem. I think they're getting used to calls like this as the lady apologised and when instructed told me my details had been removed from the website. I told her if she wished to send me a prepaid returns label I would gladly send the book back but she was happy for me to keep it as a gesture of good will etc.
Don't let people like this bully or intimidate you. It gave me a fright and so thanks to all who have posted feedback and advice regarding these chancers.0 -
Hi,
I just joined this forum, specifically because of this topic!
Does anyone have a contact address to e-mail Mango on? I too have received a book from them I have never ordered! I have never been on the Mango site before today, after receiving the book, and I haven't been on myclubonline.com or whatever it is before today either.
Another thing, I don't have a membership number, unless it's on one of the forms in the box. Did people get theirs on their forms?0 -
Apologies for the double post, but just had this resolved by myclubonline.co.uk. I'm allowed to keep the book free of charge; not that I'll read it.0

May be unrelated, but I had a call tonight from someone from 'The Book Club'. As I give my telephone number to NO-ONE, I asked how he got my phone number. He said had I ever bought a book from Amazon or BOL?. I replied that I had but that they would not have my phone number as these are on-line retailers who'd use email details instead. I asked him if he was using an auto-dialler.
He then just offered me a 'free' book. I told him to not call me ever again and to remove my details from their system. A quick 1471, showed the number he called on was 08081 560058 - which I think means it was from overseas.
Anyway, just to let people know that this company may be trying other means of signing people up.Anger ruins joy, it steals the goodness of my mind. Forces me to say terrible things. Overcoming anger brings peace of mind, a mind without regret. If I overcome anger, I will be delightful and loved by everyone.0
