Well I've now had the automated reply from them after I originally used the wrong e-mail address, so now I'm just waiting.

I don't believe this.

I've just answered the door to a courier who handed me a box - exactly the same box as this Mango book came in (and had "Live to read" on the side) and I told her about how this company keep sending me stuff that I've not even asked for.

Thankfully she said that she would send it back. So I gave it back to her!!

That's the second book delivery I've had this weeek. Blimey, it's worse than having my creditors chasing me sometimes.

    Report them to trading standards

If you guys spent as much time and energy reporting them to trading standards & BBC watchdog, as you do trying to phone them asking for returns labels and posting it back.....Which you don't have to do under the unsolicited goods and Services Act 1971. You would be making a far better use of your time.

The Unsolicited Goods and Services Act 1971 makes it an offence for a company to send you goods you have not ordered. The legislation is intended to discourage companies from sending customers unordered goods in the hope that they will be induced by lethargy or ignorance to pay for them. Companies who send out unordered goods in this way do so at great risk since once you receive the goods you do not have to pay for them and they are yours to keep.

I was just about to add (but was beaten to it) that a happy ending for anyone who has been "Mango'ed" (You know when you've been Mango'ed) is that the crappy book is selling on Ebay - I think I saw one copy of "Making your mind up " go for a fiver (or thereabouts)

Well folks quick update. I have actually received a return label along with a letter apologising for the parcel being sent.

"Our introductory parcels are only sent when we receive a specific request for them. An application for membership bearing you address, but obviously without your permission. Perhaps you would be kind enough to return the parcel using the enclosed postpaid label.

In the meantime, we have removed this account from our records, although a further statement may already be on its way to you, in which case please disregard it.

Please accept our most sincere apologies for any inconvenience this matter has caused you."

    Yours Sincerely

    Customer service.

    The number I had called was 0870 165 0165
and the address on the label is

    The Distribution Centre
    Groundwell Industrial Estate
    Swindon
    SN99 9YY

Hope this may be of some help folks

    Oh I do love MSE.
19th May, I found card on the mat from Parcelnet saying they had delivered a book - which was left outside.
Have been racking my brains as to how I have managed to get myself signed up for a book club - so I did a search on here, and hey presto you all have "Making your mind up" as well !!!!.:D
Blame myself to some extent, as I have 'gone mad' a few weeks ago getting freebies etc - and one comp I do remember entering was to Win tickets at Wimbledon, so it could have been that. But I do try to be careful to read all the tick boxes about do/do not want to receive......etc. But then THEY are tricky on purpose arn't they ?!!:o
I will now send an e-mail to the address someone posted above, and invite them to come and collect. At the same time stressing I have no desire to EVER join a book club - my local library is the only one I need, and that is totally free.:T
Thanks for all the advice and help. Any problems and I will be back.
BTW, has anyone actually read the book ? Is it any good ??

I guess I should be thanking Mango now - I have just sold the "Making your mind up" book on ebay for £5.50 plus postage. I got it for nothing - after a little concern emailled them and was told the account was cancelled and no payment necessary - also to keep the book. So in the end I am £5.50 up!

I just received these and called the company - the way to get through to a person is not not press 1 at the very begining it thinks you don't have a touch tone phone and puts you through to a person straight away.
the person i got couldn't tell me how the accounts was opened/set up beyond 'i must have clicked something online' apparently they have so many offers linked to so many sites there was no way of narrowing it down!

I also notice the paperwork they send says ' to register for the first time online go to....' and to ' activate your membership' pay for this book etc...so if i've not registered online and i've not activated a membership why are they sending me stuff

I've sent a 'sod off' e-mail to every version of this company i can trace and e-mail for - mango are part of -
    e-support@ myclubonline.co.uk
    privacypolicy@ bca.co.uk
    e-support@ booksdirect.co.uk
    welcome@ new-member.co.uk
    BCAclubExtra@ galleon.co.uk

Also there is nothing in their paperwork telling you how to return or cancell membership and no cooling of period - a legal must for any contract.
I've also found some sites offering to pay you £5 for joining mango via them, possibly how so many of us have been dupped

their stupidity knows no bounds, i received and e-mail response from each, varying from keep the book, through we're sending a postage paid label for you to return it, to parcelnet will be collecting the book!
i didn't even BC each address, they all knew each address had recevied my original!
