I'm like that too, but my husband initially thought he should buy gifts and book a meal, the theatre etc. but now he's realised what I prefer.

It's not the lack of money spent etc, it's a lack of thought. I am sure that if he had bought a cheap card from tesco and let his little girl scribble in it, and perhaps stuck a candle into a mr kiplings cherry bakewell then the OP would be happy and wouldn't have started this thread.

    Absolutely, that would've been perfect!

It's not about big presents - we can't afford them anyway, it's the little things that matter.

I write my birthday in Mr P's diary before I give it to him at the beginning of the year. More than that I write in the previous four weeks as well - Mrs P P's birthday four weeks today, three weeks today etc.We don't bother as much as we used to, but at least he's never forgotten...yet.

However, it's our fifth wedding anniversary next week and he's not mentioned this at all...but hey, there's only so much you can do.

My husband gets emails, I don't know where from but I think they're commonly available on the web - you put people's birthdates in, or if you're really lazy you just send them mail asking them to put their dates in for you, and then you tell the program how many reminders you want and when to start reminding you.
