If you look in the ownhome thread you'll see lots of people trying to buy!
My search on rightmove is showing less results every day, but they're not appearing in the sold section. I presume this is people just removing them from sale? If so, thats a fair few people. My search is limited to a fairly small town and pretty specific criteria, and I'd say 10% of the houses that were there a week ago just no longer appear. This is also a similar number to those sold, so it doesn't look that promising.
Although TBH, quite a few were right dumps and still trying to get 2007 prices.0 -

That's promising, plus I was seeing posts on this thread mentioning offers and completion dates so some people are getting moved (though it seems with a lot more stress than anyone could tolerate!).
"Trying to buy" might not mean mortgage-approved. Had a few people in 2007 who hadn't discussed how much they could theoretically borrow, but had started viewing houses. I'm not having a dig there, since I suppose you have to get out and see what you'll get for your money.
Also noticed last time that everyone (30 people) already lived in the city. My OH and I have no love for the city and wonder if it's a bit - for want of a better word - 'insular' (I could have just gone for 'backwards'). So what might be happening elsewhere in the country - things picking up - doesn't seem to be happening here.I used to have my Avon turnover (sales) here. They've been removed because it's not appropriate to talk about those kinds of sales as if they're realistic for a new Rep to aim for.I signed up at the right time, right place, and was very lucky.

Yeah, see what you mean. I didn't even try to view a house til I had the funding go ahead and the mortgage agreed in principle, but thats cos I didn't see the point unless I knew I could buy.0

Well the obnoxious EA has done his job properly and our buyers have come up to the price we want, it's a fraction below asking which is remarkable.
Buyers are hoping for a four week exchange, that makes me a bit panicky as there is only 1 place we like and there's no guarantee we'll secure it.:eek:0 -
Well.............. Drumroll please we have EXCHANGED! :T
Bullied about completion dates untill the end, but hey in the end I thought this could go on for days and you know what I would rarther just exchange! Wooohooo, cant believe it, what a year of stress!
That is the second best bit of news I've heard today! (First was me passin my OU exam!) I'm SO pleased for you, hun.
We had a second viewing this evening, they have had 2 offers on their house, so are sort of proceedable. They love our house.
So let's wait and see.

I'm not coping very well today. Phoned the EA at lunch time for my daily set of excuses as to why we haven't exchange yet despite the 2nd deadline having passed.
Today, 'they aren't ready, but want to do exchange and completion on the same day - 21st August'!!!! This, despite them telling us that it is their solicitor who has held everything up, and now they want to trust her to do everything on the same day!!?? I can just see us with our house packed in a van and it all going wrong.
Well, we've gone back and said they can have any d*mned completion date they want (despite it meaning I probably can't use my uncle's firm and thus save myself hundreds and have nice strapping men move instead having to do it myself) but they have to exchange NOW!
Clearly it won't happen today, but our vendors (the bank) are chasing us and we don't know why it is they won't exchange until then as they should be ready. Soooo stressed today!
To be honest, we're reconcilling ourselves now that we're probably going to miss out on this house if we can't exchange until the 21st, as the bank will pull the plug on our offer. So upsetting.
Tomorrow I have to go to my friends wedding and put a brave face on things, when I've already been in tears once today (and I'm not generally a cryer).
I hate this whole process.Hoping to create a beautiful life for DS and I.
