Pleased to report we accepted an offer today (after a little haggling) from the couple who came as 2nd (or 3rd) viewers. We are very pleased with the outcome as they are a lovely couple who will get on well with our neighbours.
So now it's back to looking at houses for us to buy - got a viewing lined up on Monday on a property we saw about 4 weeks ago.0 -
Hope it all goes through smoothly for you.:jPawpurrs x0

not being home i declined and arranged a viewing today instead
and ...... he didn't show up :rolleyes:0 -
Well done Jstallen.
What a pain blue bus - hope you have loads next week.
Well for me, we have had a draft contract through from solicitors so we will have a look at it tomorrow. I forgot to ring our EA today as we still havent heard about a survey so shall do that Tuesday now as they are closed tomorrow and monday.
I suppose the biggest news is that we have withdrawn our offer on the property we liked. So fed up with the vendors. Basically last week we said we would give until 3pm today as we were aware she had a meeting with bank 10am this morning. (Background we offered 147k and house on market 155k, they need 152k to clear mortgage). Anyways spoke to admin person in EA as she was the only one in on a saturday and she was reading the notes out loud and it said that the vendor had gone to the bank with her sister with a view to getting a joint mortgage to buy the property and her sister to live there.
When I said excuse me she sorted of stuttered and said oh I am not a negotiator so it doesnt mean nothing to me. She then tried all afternoon to speak to vendor but she said they were cutting her calls off after 1 or 2 rings. Subsequently we withdrawed offer formally.
We have been to see quite a few new build sites today as we would prefer a new build. The one we like will not be ready until Nov and thats on at 160k. There is another one in a different site but that is on for £189,950 and our max max budget is £160k. The advantage being that it would be ready July. The saleperson did say may be some room for negotiating but not that low she doesnt think. That does come fully carpeted/conservatory and garage.
We are going to have a good think this weekend and go back on Tuesday although if we have to wait until Oct that wont be a problem as my SIL has kindly given us her house to have rent free to stay in
Sorry bit of a long post here. Am off to crack open the wine as I feel I deserve it and I definitely feel house buying/selling is stressful!!0 -
Bad news for us yesterday. Our buyers buyer pulled out. No reason given. So it looks like we're going to loose out on the house we had been trying to buy. :-(
To be honest, I'm so upset. It was so perfect for us. :-(I love giving home made gifts, which one of my children would you like?:A

So sorry Jenny, know that feeling. Don't worry, it might not be the end.
And also sorry pawpurrs, read your bad news also on the other thread.
It sucks, it really does.0 -
So sorry everyone is having bad news. I am now dreading joining you all when my house goes up next week:(
we have viewed 3 properties so far and I am trying not to tell myself we have fallen in love with the second one as want to try and keep my emotions out if it! We are waiting for our new carpet to be laid on thurs before getting ea around to take pics. I know this might sound daft having new carpet but son decided to throw a dish of tomato soup on the floor. Think spending £285 for new flooring in kitchen diner is worth it considering might not sell it for a year!
We have 2 appointments next week for mortagage reviews, one with current provider. Have yet to instruct a solicitor. Planned to send kids to mil on Mon so we can do a bit of tarting up but after the 2 we have viewed I think we might be a bit keen. Bloke today had tidied house but place wanted a damn good clean. Can anyone advise us, are we doing things in right order?
