    Hi all,

Thought I would give an update / summary of our house sale - my last post was probably a couple of months ago.

We originally put our house on the market in February 2008 at £139,950 hoping to move before we got married in August 2008 and then before Christmas 2008 and then before the birth of our son - due 10th May 2009.

We dropped the price over a number of months to Fixed Price £99,950 and eventually got an offer of full asking price in Dec 2008. This offer fell through in Jan 2009 due to our buyers buyer not being able to proceed.

We eventually got another offer for £94,500, which was reduced to £92,000 after the survey in April. We had always budgeted for about a £2k drop after the survey. We got an offer accepted on the house we wanted for £179,500 - it was orginally marketed at £215,000.

My wife was taken into hospital on 27th April with high blood pressure and suspected preeclampsia - our son was born on 1st May, weighing 6lb 2oz. Mother and baby are doing well.

On Tuesday 12th of May we got a call from the solicitors asking if we could move on Friday 15th. After waiting so long to move we decided to go for it. Managed to get a van, pack and successfully moved house on the 15th.

It's been a long, drawn out process but we got there in the end. Good luck to everyone on here trying to sell - if we managed to sell I'm sure you will too.

Have been keeping an eye on this board for a bit now. Wondered if I might join you as we are waiting for the notification that the agent has started marketing our property.
Our story (in brief!) - house went on market in Jan 2008 and we got an offer of £220k immediately from the first viewer. We had already moved into rented accomodation. Sale fell through in March 2008 when our buyer's buyer's buyer pulled out. We had decided we didn't like the rented accomodation and were glad to be able to move back to our house, and took it off the market.
Fast forward to Easter this year - due to problems with our son's school we moved to another village, again into rented. We rented out our house short term to some friends who are waiting for their house sale to complete, they will move out end of June.
We are not intending to buy immediately we sell, but to stay in rented for a while, so no chain.
House has been very realistically priced at £187k (by us, agent wanted to put it on at £195k) so hopefully will attract viewers. Similar properties are £200k plus in our village. We are not looking to accept offers much below the asking as we feel it really is priced to sell.
It is a house you can move straight in to - we have had everything 'done' in the 10 years we have lived there. Fingers crossed....

Good luck to everyone trying to sell!

    Em x

Viewing been and gone, not for them I dont think, same reasons as normal, It has to go to someone who loves old houses, some people like them, but not enough to sacrafice certain things, these people being of that ilk, Imagine.
