My EA's have been useless too, only still with them as we had to get the money to pay off the HIP,which will be this month then its bye to them.
What do you mean money to pay off the HIP - did they have some deal going? My ea said if we took the HIP with them and the property sold in 9 months then we would get the money back. I didn't take it with them as it was a big con. There was clearly no way it would sell in that time and they upped the percentage if you took that option anyway. At least you had a viewing eh? So how are you going to determine who you go with next time?Smile though your bank is breaking:)0 -
my advice is ask around your friends and neighbours in the area. find out who has horror stories to tell and then avoid them like the plague.
also go in and talk to prospective agents rather than just phone them up, see how keen they are to help you before they know what you want. perhaps enquire about a house they have on their books and see how helpful they are to the prospective buyer? they all fall over backwards to market you in my opinion.Credit Card debt £10247.17 1/1/20200 -
We deferred payment on the HIP as we have 6 kids and hubby had to work away so money was tight. It gave us time to get the money together to pay it off but also meant we were tied in with the EA. As we are new to the area we dont have anyone we can ask about EA's but before we decided to move back south my in-laws were going to move up here so we based our original opinion of EA's on who sent out info etc when the in-laws were looking. There were only 2 companies that we felt actually tried to sell houses,so we went with one,and will probably go to the other next.0

Hi Kymie,
Looks a lovely house - am quite tempted myself!Couldn't get the floor plan to open though, you might want to check you have the URL for that right? I tried in both Chrome and Firefox.
Your garden really looks fantastic! Though possible a bit big for a couple of old fogies like me and OH. But a lovely size for kids to run around in, and plenty of space for a veg patch and stuff like that.
Can you tell I only really look at the gardens of property? The bungalow we've offered on I've really fallen in love with the garden, hardly noticed the inside, other than it felt right and both of us could imagine living there.
If I was looking in your area, I'd want to see photos of the kitchen and at least the master bedroom. Hope you don't mind me saying. I tend to be suspicious when there aren't internal views - makes me wonder if a place needs a lot of work. The sort of property we've been looking at that's usually the case!
Good luck with it all!

Thanks so much Maggie! The main reason we went for this house was the garden! I will get round to putting more pictures on, but as our last viewing was Feb and hubby been away mostly since April so just me + 5 kids = not very 'photogenic' lol. Am having a major tidy up this weekend though!!0

The continuing saga of our house sale - first buyers pulled out after 10 weeks with just one week to go, second buyers offered within one day, so far so good.
With just 2weeks to go our property hit by lightning and the roof set on fire - luckily damage not too bad but of course now waiting on insurance assessors, quotes etc.
Big problem is - it appears that even though he knew about the fire, our buyers' solicitor advised them that if they didn't exchange and complete with their buyersthey would lose their sale so now they are in limbo with nowhere to live.
The stress on all of us is enormous but I don't know what we can do other than to keep hassling the insurance company. Ofcourse, our purchase of our next place is also in jeopardy - beginning to wish we had never started the process.0 -
