Don't tell me they've packed the toilet as well! :rotfl:
sounds like its going well so far... is it too early to say Happy New Home  ?
No but i prefer the bath and i don't want to particualry put my laptop down on the toilet, it would be like people who use their phone on the toilet...
Not that well, not impressed at the lost of food ...Mum was quite suprised they haven't finished as well....They've had to keep taking their fag breaks so it's taken a bit longer...
Thanks, bit early wish it tomorrow when we're safely there (we hope)0 -
Sorry to hear about the freezer issue NEH, hopefully they'll reimburse you for the contents. An excuse to take advantage of the "any pizza for £10" at Dominos methinks ?!"Science is a wonderful thing if one does not have to earn one's living at it" Einstein 19510

I am starting to lose belief that we will ever sell - it was a lovely day yesterday, and I was sat in the garden having a cup of tea with my DD's friend's dad before he took her home, and he was saying what a lovely garden it was and why on earth were we thinking of moving. We know what a lovely home this is and what we would be giving up if we moved, but we need someone to come along who will appreciate it - because as time is moving on we are becoming more and more definite that there is no way we are giving it away at a bargain basement price. Oh well, sit and wait it out a bit longer I guess.0

Because the property I bought had had 7 viewings in the first week with 2 other interested people. It had a fair few other views lined up on it for the following week and this was in a slow August. I therefore had to decide whether to take the gamble and hope no one offered on it going into Sept which seemed unlikely based on its viewings at the end of Aug or accept it was probably worth more than I thought.
Totally agree.
Ive just had an offer accepted on a property and from pervious sold figures, im paying about 15k more than theoretically it should cost. However, as a buyer I feel as its a long term purchase for me, that im okay with that, rather than risk loosing the house.
However, im about to put my own house on the market and have just had 3 estate agents around and from the valuations they have given me, it looks like the buyer will get a right bargain. Estate agents have valued my house at only 10k more than ones needing total renovation in the dodgy areas of the town, even though im in a good area with good local shops/schools/facilitys and ive just spent 30k on the house renovating the house. Renovations include building a new double garage, landscaped gardens, new kitchen, bathroom, new carpets throughout. Every room has been replastered & painted neautral colours. I thought things like that were supposed to add value to it! Id have been better off keeping the house as it was as it looks like ive just thrown money away!0 -
Just wondered about the reasons sellers have for moving and thought this thread would be as good a place to ask as any.
We live in a big 4 bed terraced house, have accepted an offer and expect to exchange contracts very soon. We are moving to a 4 bed detached house which will be smaller size-wise and I constantly get asked why on earth we want to give up such a lovely big home and told we must be mad!
Our main reasons are we currently live on a main road and have only a small garden. The house we are buying is on a small estate with a bigger garden and we feel it will suit our family better.
Hope some others will share their reasons for moving.0 -
Currently selling 3 bed semi, decent sized back garden, edge of an estate, approx 1.5 miles from DS school.
Buying a 4 bed detached, huge back garden, not on an estate, 0.4miles from DS school. This is the same school I want DD and new baby to go to in the future.
Reasons for moving.....would like another bedroom for baby, bigger garden suits 3 children plus numerous bunnies and we can walk to school and pre-school saving petrol money."Put the kettle on Turkish, lets have a nice cup of tea.....no sugars for me.....I'm sweet enough"0 -
I had a 3-bed semi in a very urban / city location. My OH lives in a semi-suburban village about 250 miles away. The only way he will consider moving to this part of the world is if our house is what he would consider "better" than his current home. He feels he lacks street-smarts (as evidenced by his complete inability to lock car doors!) so city living is not for him. So I'm not necessarily looking for a bigger house, but a trade up on location to something more rural. But he'll still have to learn how to lock the car!
There is a village that I always thought I wanted to live in "eventually" but now eventually has arrived and I've started looking, it turns out that I don't actually like much of the housing stock in that village - en masse its great but the individual properties are almost universally unappealing. Luckily the surrounding villages have something to offer but I'm still struggling to find a place that suits us both.0 -

That sounds a lot like us when we made our last move - we had a lovely edwardian 4 bed terraced house which had loads of space inside but not much outside, and issues with parking & a main road, and moved to a 3 bed house but with a huge garden.
Seven years later on, we've built a two storey extension so the house is a good size, but my OHs health is up and down, so the plan is to downsize to a smaller house, move closer to school and work so we can have one car, and give him the option to reduce his working hours. The jury is still out on whether the figures will add up though, so if we can't reduce the mortgage enough by moving, we'll have to give up on the idea.0 -

Thank you! We've actually barely organised anything so far, but have got reception venue booked and seeing registrar next week, so hopefully things will come together a bit more soon. I wonder if we might have moved house by then?!why on earth were we thinking of moving. Lots of people have said how lovely our house is too, but we have a simple reason for wanting to move - it's too small. We have a 2 bed mid terrace with a yard and we desperately want more space (both downstairs and up), plus I really want a garden and OH wants off road parking. The place we've seen fits the bill really well but trying not to think about that atm! I completely know what you mean though - everytime someone compliments our house I think again that I won't give it away. But he'll still have to learn how to lock the car!
This made me laugh as my OH is pretty much the opposite, probably because we live on the not-so-great outskirts of a city. Last week when we were staying with my folks in rural Wales I had to keep telling him he didn't have to lock the car everytime we went inside for 30 seconds whilst packing the car up as everytime I came out with stuff I had to get him to unlock it! I proved to him how safe it is there though by (unintentionally!) leaving the car window half open while we spent hours on the beach - the sat nav and CD's were in the glove conpartment and my handbag with my purse and engagement ring and watch and his wallet and watch in were in the boot, but everything was as we left it when we got back (luckily for me or would never have heard the end of it!!:D)2011: [STRIKE]Houses[/STRIKE], [STRIKE]weddings[/STRIKE], [STRIKE]cats[/STRIKE]
