Am i allowed to join you?
My hubby is driving me mad he has illusions a grandure (sp?)
I keep telling him we wont get what he wants and its only temporary until we are back on our feet.
He is completely burying his head in the sand and im doing everything by myself.
I cant seem to shake him out of it and get him to help me to prepare the house for evaluations i cannot imagine how he is going to be come actually selling and exchanging etc. :mad:0 -

I’d have thought a 1-bed starter home stands a good chance of gathering plenty of viewings. As you move on up (presumably) you’ll certainly be welcomed too, by sellers looking for the crucial link in their chain.
My recommendations: be straight with people about your situation, and expect the same standards from them in return.
Are you on with a High Street EA or an online one?
ThanksWe're with a High Street EA. Not too sure how we feel about their service so far, no-one from the office has called me today to either a) enquire about how the arranged-viewing-that-never-happened on our house went yesterday or b) let me know that said viewer had somehow cancelled/said they couldn't attend etc.
I'll call them tomorrow, but I kind of feel that's not the point, if you know what I mean? Maybe I'm being impatient?
Congrats to those who have exhanged or completed :j0 -
I can hardly believe it after over 13 weeks and massive amounts of aggro, finally it is done, :j :j :j
Best of luck to everyone else who is desperately trying to sell. It does work in the end, but it takes FOREVER and you age about 10 years in the process.
Yay, so pleased for you! :jDo you know when you are completing?Well guys after the worst 10 weeks of my life we are exchanging tomorrow and moving Sat though completion Fri I can't bloody believe it.:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j

we complete today and it seems an absolute lifetime since they viewed 10 weeks ago. They have phoned us umpteen times with simplistic queries but I have politely bitten my tongue when speaking to them even though I wanted to tell them to look things up, like I did We even had a letter to them at our address but it was re-directed to our new house so we have sat on it until today when we will post it back.
We lowered our selling price by a huge amount from when next door sold and that wasn`t a loved house. Yes we have lost loads since we bought it but at least the stress is just about over now.
An identical house but not in as good a position and without the brilliant view that we had, is still up for sale at 50k more than we sold for. It has been up for sale for a year and yesterday we find that a dear neighbour, also in a house like ours, is up for sale at a good price too. No doubt though that he will have to drop to our price in order to secure a sale as he has seen a house they want
The hard reality is that we had to drop the price to attract a good buyer
Now to finally settle in our new eco house, which should be trouble free but is full of building snags. Doh!!! something else to pursue. No wonder people stay put these days0 -
wow big congrats to everyone who has exchanged or completed :j
i have posted previously that i have exchanged on my sale but that we are having a nightmare on our purchase. I cannot believe that the solicitors for the property we are buying are so slow. they are countrywide solicitors and their standard turnaround for any paperwork is three days before anything is done with it  So my solicitor asked some questions last week, they were answered by the sellers and sent to their solicitors on Friday and my solicitor still doesn't have them. It is so frustrating, all because the people we are buying from went cheap with their solicitor :mad::mad::mad::mad: I seem to spend so much time chasing the Estate Agents, thank goodness my solicitors are so on the ball and efficient.0 -

Countrywide is notorious I believe...
Sorry Bakerp congratulations to you to
Kittie I hear where you're coming from, i replied on another thread and they're advising that all our properties in our road are too high....Thing is we can't afford to drop too far as we wouldn't get back on the property ladder for another 20 odd years as we would lose all our deposit etc for the next house.....
The advice on this forum seems to be sell it at a huge loss 50% if need be and then rent from there on in, but we would still like to own my own home....:(0 -
No word back from people who were "very interested" in FIL's bungalow, but they still have to sell their house - sigh.
It will be seven weeks on Saturday that our offer to buy was accepted for a quick sale- no draft contracts- no word on exchange date or completion. Our solicitor is on holiday for another week and I made it very clear to her replacement we needed to move in August because of DD's school and starting sixth form.
It's a cash sale and no chain so can't think why it is taking so long. We sold our house in five weeks and moved out four days early so house could be cleared out completely and found somewhere to stay that was not even on the market so we did not lose our sale.
Nice to hear some of us are getting sold :j:j Good luck to everyone else still in the "joys" of the process."This site is addictive!"
Wooligan 2 squares for smoky - 3 squares for HTA
Preemie hats - 2.0 -
Right then, officially changed EA's today. Some optimism has returned!
Hope new EA gets us a viewing or 2, maybe even an offer, as 9 weeks with the last EA and NO viewings or offers wasnt fun!
Fingers crossed!
Did you have any trouble disinstructing your EA? I was thinking of going multiple agency but think I might just dump the ones I'm with altogether.0 -

I would be absolutely devasted if our children had to do what we did in order to sell and we could only do it because we are fortunate baby boomers. It is such an unfair property game in this country and no wonder that people have to rent for a lifetime.
I really do feel for the ones struggling on the ladder or struggling to get on the ladder0 -
I saw my EA walking along the High Street yesterday, so at least I know he is still alive.0
