Ooooh congrats PottyHouse, so pleased for you, fingers crossed the chain-free buyer sticks!! :j

Kittie, congrats on you new home - enjoy it :)

Mark, congrats on accepting a good offer, good luck :)

On my end, our buyer's FTB has now finally booked a survey on our buyer's property, and my buyer then is going to call around to book a valuation survey on ours, but I guess they may wait till the survey on their house is done first. Probably looking at next week before survey is done on ours but things are slowly (ever-so-painfully) moving forward, dare I say!

Its only been 2 weeks so not time to start fretting just yet. Surveyor came last wednesday so I might wait a couple more days and then get my head back out of the sand to check that the report has been done. The house is only 12 years old so I'm not expecting anything major to come up.

I used to have a box room filled with boxes of junk that moved with me from uni back to my parents and into a house share and back to my parents and then into this house. I know that 99% of it is junk but there's the odd bit of paperwork in there that is important (degree cert and deeds/lease on this house to name but 2 that I've had to dig out again recently!). I spent many years promising that the junk would never make it into the loft and then we decided to put the house on the market...

Out-of-sight-out-of-mind is definitely a bad thing when it comes to the motivation to start sorting it!

a lot can happen in 2 weeks, i assume you have filled in all your paper work etc, if survey been done already then thats a good sign that they want to move quickly. maybe worth just a quick up date email to the Solicitors so they dont forget about you
    :p
    Thank you to all posters

Got a call from the EA this afternoon. The French couple who came to view last Saturday and are jetting off abroad tomorrow for 3 weeks loved the place... and get this, they put in an offer for the full asking price, no chain, mortgage in place and they want completion by 20th August. Yippee put the flags out :j DH will finally get some nookie the night:D as no more stress. Have already cracked open a beer (don't like bubbly).

Congrats to Pottyhouse by the way for your sale. I hope everything goes smoothly for you.

And congrats to anyone else who has gotten a sale recently. Fingers crossed for those still waiting for their elusive buyer. Sending lots of positive vibes your way

Turns out our vendor, instead of being on holiday for one week, with keys at EA so survey could be done as we were told the other day - is now on holiday till the 17th of this month.

No survey can be done till after the 17th - but they are really keen for a quick sale

To top it all the bank that I asked to close my savings account last Monday still has not done it and DH got a phone call asking for my security details today while I was out so will have to call in tomorrow trying to get things sorted out - again!!!!!!

Strange how they fall over themselves themselves to take your hard earned money but put every obstacle possible in your way to get own money back out!!!

My bank account was exactly the same. I asked for the account to be closed after I reclaimed bank charges, and I was still receiving bank statements from them six months later and they sent me a new card  Each time I received a statement I was on the phone to them saying that this account was now closed. Finally got it sorted after 9 months.

Another here who has received and accepted an offer so just wanted to to say to those losing faith not to give up.

We've been on the market just over 3 months, had only 9 viewings, 2 of whom returned for 2nd viewings but the people who are buying only viewed once and offered within 2 hours of leaving which was a bit of a shock though a great one.

Good luck to all who are still waiting and those who have offers.

    Well done everyone!!!
It seems from a quick read through that quite a few of the regulars on here have had offers in the last week, so maybe the market is picking up a bit (fingers crossed)

There seems to be a lot of posts on this board at the moment from confused FTBs wanting to know more about how the whole process works - is this a sign that they are starting to venture back into the market despite what the naysayers in the media are predicting, or just a sign that this website is gaining in popularity?!

Whichever it is, here's hoping that the market is starting to un-jam for everybody and we can all get going soon...

Fingers crossed here too. Been on the market 14 months, a few viewings but no offers. Don't think it helps one of the other flats in my building has been on the market since Oct 07 . Unfortunately they're both one beds, two beds in our building go quickly for a good price.
