We are starting to lose faith that we will sell any time soon - after nine weeks, we've only had three viewers and as far as we know none of those three have sold their own property in that time, so even though two of them did say they liked the house, if they can't sell there is no hope of them buying. It all seems really patchy round here - some houses are selling quickly and others just aren't or are coming back on the market after months under offer. It seems that people are paying really safe - they are buying houses to do up, or modern houses that are priced very competitively, or bigger houses that are immaculate - anything that has the slightest question mark against it or is a bit unusual just isn't selling.0

We can sympathise, we're going to back the to shall we rent out our old flat then..We're having to really stretch ourselves to up our rental budget this time and we're jsut wondering if it would be better to rent out our old flat so at least we don't have to worry about those bills...
Can't believe how much rental pirces have shot up since last year here and in the whole of Scotland, we've upped our budget by a fair bit already but some properties seem to be going at least £200 over what they were gong last year pcm...0 -
I agree Tyllwyd, we have been on the market for 7 months
only had around 5 viewers, sold it straight away but fell through, and now nothing. I dont want to rent out our house as need the money (we have already brought out new house and now have 2 mortgages etc) but dont want to give it away either.
the house market just seems to have dried up round here

Have you got used to saying that yet?! (Congratulations on the wedding btw)
I can totally sympathise with the losing heart/losing patience/losing the will to live feeling. I was well and truly bored of the whole selling business when my buyer came along. I'm now too scared to speak to the EA or my solicitor in case either of them delivers bad news. I'm definitely taking the "no news is good news" blinkered approach at the moment - at least until I find somewhere I want to buy. It seemed to work at the finding-a-buyer stage of the process so I hope it works during the keeping-a-buyer-until-they-buy bit!
But at some point I suppose I should start throwing away my junk and packing the stuff I want to keep0 -
It never hurts to start throughing away your junk and packing your not needed stuff early as it always seems we never realise just how much we have. We had carboots etc when we got our buyer and seeing as that was way back in January our house has now managed to get more junk and unused stuff in it, so WHEN i get a new buyer will have to do it all again lol
good luck with it Sonastin, how far is it on? weeks/days?
No not got used to being a wife, no diffrent really, just forget i am one sometimes until someone says it lol. its a month today!

After 16 months of being on the market, 5 offers, proceeding in two chains which have fallen through 4 times between them .... we are at our wits end.
Seriously thinking about coming off the market, it is really affecting our health/relationship and everyday life.
I know that if we did take house off the market I would still want to move - yes we could throw money into it and change a few bits but we cannot change where it is or the size of the garden (2 of the reasons for moving !!).
Had a really awful day today and its the weekend !!! We did not have any viewings and had the whole day to indulge ourselves but the house business took over and ruined it.
If we could do it, we would rent this house out and buy another chain free - but there is no way financially we can. We are making sideways move and would you believe we have got nowhere and already spent £1700.
Hi all, quick update.
We accepted an offer last week to a chap with .... get this ..... NO PROPERTY TO SELL !
Thats all I'm prepared to say at the moment - don't want to jinx it!!
Good luck to all - I'll be popping by every now and then.:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:0 -
Its only been 2 weeks so not time to start fretting just yet. Surveyor came last wednesday so I might wait a couple more days and then get my head back out of the sand to check that the report has been done. The house is only 12 years old so I'm not expecting anything major to come up.
I used to have a box room filled with boxes of junk that moved with me from uni back to my parents and into a house share and back to my parents and then into this house. I know that 99% of it is junk but there's the odd bit of paperwork in there that is important (degree cert and deeds/lease on this house to name but 2 that I've had to dig out again recently!). I spent many years promising that the junk would never make it into the loft and then we decided to put the house on the market...
Out-of-sight-out-of-mind is definitely a bad thing when it comes to the motivation to start sorting it!0 -
