my purchase went smoothly but still need to find someone to buy my house . but it is possible to have a nice straight forward sale/purchase. It does happen
Thank you to all posters0 -
My BIL and SIL went from putting their house on the market to moving into new house in 3 months, so I suppose it can be done...0

The thing that holds most people up is waiting for their mortgage offer to come through in my experience, especially with HIPS and stuff now most things are done already

Hi MonkeysBunny, you are on here a lot (like me !!!).
We are just in the throws of applying for our mortgage .... again !!! We got it agreed last November but as purchasing another house have to go through it all again !!! Hoping to have it in the next week or so, our Buyers have their's, so too their Buyer and with the house we are buying top of the chain hoping its all going to go through quickly.
Took an amazing 6 weeks last time with Nationwide (and we were already their Customers) .... apparently their turnaround time is 2 weeks !!!:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:0 -

Take it you have 2 mortgages or the money to buy your new property without selling first ??
Does that take the pressure off any?? or I guess you are paying more than you really need to at the moment.
Bonus is you are guaranteed the home that you want without losing it through chain breakdown.:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:0 -
Hello. Have read the first 67 pages of this thread but have decided to leave the rest for a while:rotfl:
Our house went on the market three weeks ago and have had 13 viewings and then an offer yesterday. House is on at £215k, first offer was £190k which we rejected and they upped it to £205k which we accepted. The buyers are both renting separately at the moment and we are going to move into rented as well, so have no chain.
Am convinced it is all going to go wrong - we want to move preferably between end of July and beginning of September due to children's schools (need to organise them). DH's new job is paying for him to stay up there a few nights a week from beginning of May and so if we feel confident the selling will work, we will start renting before completion here.
We have had a damp survey done as we knew there was damp and so the buyers know how much it would cost to sort it out. Am worried about whatever else will turn up in a valuation.
EA said that the buyer's finance people were hopefully going to get back to him this afternoon or tomorrow - will chase tomorrow pm if I haven't heard anything.
Has anyone had a sale go smoothly <gets hopeful:rotfl:>
HI KST101,
All you can do is "go with the flow" - I went on market early last year and now proceeding for the 5th time - I put off so much last year thinking we would be moving and it never happened - now have booked a holiday for June and thinking we will be moving the same week !!!
Sounds like you have been lucky so far and even more so with your chain - stay positive and try not to dwell on what may happen - it can drive you insane !!!! :rotfl:
PS I joined this thread on page 48 - that was only January this year !:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:0 -
Hey Potty, yea i sit at a computer all day at work and have this thread on email alert lol
yes unfortunatly i have 2 mortgages AAGHHH
we did it this way cos we really really wanted our new house and it needs renovating also we had a buyr and a completion date at the time for our house we are selling so hoped we would only have 2 mortgages for a short time. We have no chain now at least so thats a plus point. i think it does take the pressure of as we can move our stuff out of the sale house bt by bit if needed rather than big removal van rush in one day. we are hopeing to sell soon and move in with family till new house is done, we are doing it all ourselves so takes time. but if the current trend continues then we will have finished that house and still have this one
Thank you to all posters0 -
Good luck everyone for viewings for this weekend for those of you looking for buyers. Good luck to to mumof4 and others 'under offer' and going through the labyrinth that is the conveyancing process.
I'm off in the morning. Everything packed, defrosed and cleaned the freezer. Cupboards and drawers all cleaned and nice for new owners tomorrow.
Now the hard work begins for me (in a nice way) new kitchen, bathroom, flooring, windows, re-wiring etc etc.
Once again good luck everyone, don't despair when all seems hopeless. There is a buyer out there for everyone, it's the waiting for them to notice you that's the killer. Have patience (or failing that, Prozac) it will happen.
How fantastic Spirit !!! I am waiting for that day.
Keep going to the shops buying home magazines to get "my fix" of plans and decorating for my new home - OH keeps moaning about the cost of them - "if it makes me happy" is my excuse !!!
My obsession used to be Rightmove now it is "Ideal Home" !!!!!!:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:0 -

Hi again, Its funny to think of this whole business of someone trying to sell their home and buying a new one ..... but everyone has their own personal circumstances, comittments and financial contraints.
If you can do it with the least amount of stress and worry then go for it - I would !!!! How lovely you have your dream home and not at risk of losing it if your sale fell through - obviously you have the stress of the financial side of it all - but you can't have everything I guess !!!!!:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:0 -
EA called and the buyers' financing seems all right (they are with Nationwide so hope it won't take too long:rotfl:)
Survey is hopefully going to be some time next week.
Hope all viewings go well for everyone having them this weekend - I did nearly all of them but the one DH did is the ones who have made the offer - I think he might be better at it than me!0
