Just phoned EA and offered to meet in the middle for price. Viewers have a first time buyer who is keen to move quickly so they do not have a chain.
Feel quite nervous now as there is nothing on the market we like just now and hardly anything to rent."This site is addictive!"

Are you happy with the price and dont want to loose the sale? could you not move in with family or friends? or even make do with a rent place that isnt really up to the standard you want just to sell? think you should really not panic straight away as you have at least a month but still dont want to let whole chain down at the end, so you may have to comprimise and rent something that you dont really want. but what ever you do dont comprimise on the purchase of a new house otherwise you will just end up selling it again in a couple of years and starting the whole cycle again haha.
hope you fgure something out

You are right about not losing a sale- we will be £50,000 down if we met in the middle which seems fair to me.
Don't want to look like a pushover - or inflexible either.
Have suggested to DH we think seriously about renting for a few months and also write a letter to a few houses which we know we like the location of, asking if they are considering selling in the near future and explaining our position.
As there are five of us we have less of a choice of rentals that would suit."This site is addictive!"

Elona, 5 of you wow haha.
Good luck with it all. the only problem with putting letters through peoples doors is they think they can then 'rule the price' so to speak. but to be honest we stuck a note through the door of the house we wanted, and got it! so there is a little light at the end of the tunnel.
can the estate agents not help you find somewhere to rent? you will have Hunters in York they rent out as well and normally once they get the bone they dont let go until they have found something
anyways good luck

Hehe I have negotiated a lower fee with them than original agent, plus I'll only pay the one fee to whoever gets the buyer, so it's not all bad. To sell the house, I will try/do anything possible to help so I don't mind steering the EAs in the right direction if need be0 -
Ha ha, know how you feel Azkaban i would 'almost' do anything too haha
good luck lets hope we can be in the same boat as mumof4 soon with the sound of offers ringing in our ears

Good grief!!! From July 2007 to August 2009. Obviously I don't know your circumstances, but surely there was a huge swing in property values between 2007 & 2009. Are you saying you had to keep dropping the price to get a sale?
@ NEH. What's cash & solicitors got to do with anything, if you are still at the selling stage?
Our first agreed sales was for £205k in July 2007, but they lost their buyer. We eventually sold for £170k, and had bought for £190k in 2006! I know its a lose, but its a paper one (if that makes sense) and we really wanted to move so were prepared to make that loss a real one.0 -
Congrats to mumof4 and elona.
Just had a viewing. Lady was very positive about the house (they always are) -but was surprised to learn we have 3 floors !
.....She has 12more houses to see.....
How do you compete with that0
